Editing for clarification of my issue...
I simply don't understand why marks are capped at 200, when we could have 400 per character prior. Bungie has made it a point to let us do things without going to the tower so much by letting us turn in bounties and quests from wherever we are in the game. GREAT. Yet, they turn around and add another means to force us back to the tower often by making us clean out our wallet, or get penalized by not allowing us to accrue more marks. With TTK, we even get LMarks for dismantling unwanted legendaries. YAY! Except, if your wallet is full, then what you would have been rewarded with goes down the toilet. Thanks Bungie!
Making marks account wide is a great thing. But limiting them is pointless (I know there's no weekly limit). It takes the same amount of time to earn X number of marks. If I spend X hours accruing 400, I'm going to spend the same hours grinding 200, buying an item or two, then grinding another 200 to buy more. Except now I'm forced to buy stuff (even if I don't want it) when I don't want it otherwise I'm penalized. It's unnecessary aggravation to the player base. Just let us play (and bank) and be happy and spend our earnings how and when we want!
One step forward, two steps back. The Bungie motto. "We've learned our lesson". "When players quit, we want them to be happy". <---HAH, right!
What if they did this with Xur and strange coins? Or weapon parts for reforging? One attempt for each, then grind away for one more attempt? Just let us splurge! We save to use and buy things when we need or want them.
Yes I get it. This seems like a minor complaint. In the grand scheme it may not be a problem at all. I just don't understand the unnecessary limitations imposed on players. It's 2015. Move forward. If you want people to be happy, don't limit them. It's pretty simple. You're going to get my 600-1000 hours of playtime anyway! Just let me be happy doing it!

1 ReplyI have max marks on all characters
-
So u can't just spam shit u have to spend then earn it again makes it always feel like u need more but you also never think of wasting them.

Shouldn't be to bad just shop often it's not like vault space is an issue anymore .

It takes hours to grind out 200 marks. Chances are if you played the game for 4-5 hours straight you'll have been to the tower 2 or 3 times or more for various reasons. They're removing the limit on how many marks you can earn per week. How is that not satisfying? "Oh no I have to go back to the tower every 2 or 3 hours, woe is me." I'm not trying to be combative here but for -blam!- sakes it's like some of you run out of shit to bitch about for the day so you actively seek out the tiniest minor inconveniences you can find and complain about that instead.
-
You don't HAVE to spend them you know...
-
Obvious one is to keep you working for more. That's all I can think of, unless the Ps4 and Xbone don't have enough processing power to hold 400
-
2 RepliesBecause this cap ensures you can't farm 12 000 000 and turn them into a gazillion Commendations whenever a new system comes up.
-
200 may be less overall, but you won't have to worry so much about hitting the weekly cap. That is one of the biggest limiters to acquiring gear that doesn't involve luck. So likely we will see quite a few people hit 40 and have a set of new gear in the first day. Without too much no lifeing the game.
-
3 RepliesIt's still a HUGE contradiction. What they are doing is removing the cap but increasing the amount of times you have to visit the tower forcing a purchase making it a huge inconvenience. Think of how many times you are going to have to stop what you are doing just to be efficient at increasing marks.
-
Because its unlimited, after you spend them you can just start again there is no weekly reset.
-
1 Replyto encourage you to buy stuff
-
Capped at 200 but you can earn as many as you like in a week, where before you could only earn 200
-
To slow progression! Same reason glimmer is capped, you needed commendations, ascendant materials dropped from nightfalls, no match making for end game, bounty slots were limited, ect, ect, ect. Anything to slow progression so their 2 hours of content can last as long as possible.

Edited by arcadecrash: 8/23/2015 12:31:54 AMWon't be an issue. Once you see the new gear you will be throwing your marks at the tower.
They don't care about player unhappiness. They care about keeping you playing. Unfortunately, the two are not mutually exclusive.
3 RepliesYou do know you cap at 200 but if you spend them you can just keep getting them. It's not a full cap. Think of it like glimmer. You have a mx, spend some, then earn more.
-
They have to try to keep their precious tower relevant. Coming back every few games to buy legendaries isn't so bad though. Now that we can buy as many as we can grind the marks for.
-
2 RepliesSorry but how can you currently have 400 per character? You stop earning them at 200 don't you?
-
Probably 200 since you can get them from both pvp and pve. Idk how i feel about them being shared across all characters but I'm maxing out my titan before playing either of my other characters so once he's max I'll just buy them gear before i level them
-
If you have 200, and really want that stuff, you would probably spend it before losing more than 5
-
200 is not a weekly cap. Just as many you can hold until being full. After being full you can spend some and then earn more that same week. No big deal
-
With how Rift looks I'll probably get a lot from that.
