Iron Banner is basically unplayable.
I've avoided getting into the "nerf this" "nerf that" debate...but Thorn has made the Iron Banner unplayable.
I just tried to play a handful of games and almost every single game 3/4 of the people were using Thorn.
Was looking forward to this IB, really wanted a Jolder's Hammer...but probably not going to even bother at this point.

*Edit 2: In response to a bunch of posts; I've tried changing up my load outs a bit, depending on the maps.
My main load out is on my Hunter atm. Red Death, Felwinter's Lie (HoW version), and Deviant Gravity-A.
The other three weapons I have been switching in and out are equipped on my Titan; Ill Will, Low Grade Humility and Ash Factory. All of the Legendary weapons, imo, have extremely good rolls and have been very helpful in leveling the playing field. This worked pretty well for me this morning when I got into a game of randoms (no full fire teams) or a game where half the team didn't leave before the game was half way over. The main reason I have been using the Deviant Gravity-A over the Ash Factory is to complete the Machine Lord bounty. I need to finish leveling the Ash Factory as I just got that a couple of days ago.

I've been using red death or multi tool to combat thorn. Every once in awhile I will pull out a trusty old suros and an efrideets spear

Funny to me how polarizing Iron Banner is. It's my favorite PvP event - even when I'm getting my ass handed to me. The other funny thing is that yeah - there are thorns a'plenty - including mine - but I die less from it than I do from others. There are a lot of guys who just can't use the big T effectively.

It's not unplayable it is frustrating as -blam!- though and as my friends have said the rage machine (that's me) has been in full flow!!!

9 Replies9 of 10 times my Last Word wins vs Thorns. It takes 3 hits with Thorn for a kill, 2 for Last Word. Thorn isn't OP.

All I would like to see is a delay after you slide with a shotgun. Like maybe a half second to a whole second delay. I'm cool with shotguns but the only time it really pisses me off is in iron banner and toO

It isn't an issue at all, I'm running around with the messenger and beating most thorns I run into. I don't see the issue.

Still not half as bad as the backfills. But back to Thorn, it's all Thorn, with the occasional messenger, Red Death or TLW. There's IMO a problem when 10 out of 12 players in each match are using the same primary. I'd like a scout rifles only playlist but that's probably never going to happen, due to programming issues.

As a mainly Thorn user I'd just like to thank you for your contribution to our collect Thorn K/D ratio. Finished all my Iron Banner bounties in 3 rounds this morning.

That makes no sense.....i get killed with other guns equally.....yea i get killed by thorn but if EVERY person using thorn is killing you repeatedly and ruining the game for you then maybe you are doing something wrong?

My advice, join a clan... It makes all the difference in the world to make Crucible fun when your on a talkative fire team of people you play with regularly... doesn't help the Thorn problem... but makes it much more fun... If your on Xone and 30years or older come check out our clan, we have 2 or more teams running every night, all adults, all goofing off collecting kills and rep...

If anyone tries to say they're good at PvP using Thorn, those people should start using No Land Beyond, that's the only way someone can be good at PvP
