Question for People Who have Gone Flawless
When you are playing normal crucible, why do you still insist on using the same Thorn/ Last Word + Shotgun load out?
Apparently you guys are the "best of the best" so to speak, so why do you still rely on your overpowered weapons while facing off against scrubs in normal Crucible.
If you truly were good enough to go flawless in the most challenging PvP Playlist in the game, how come you can't succeed with weapons other than Thorn/TLW/ Shotgun?
Maybe it's cuz you are only good because of those weapons......
Edit: Yeah. Lot of replies. Can't get to them all.
Edit: Haha! Just made some flawless nerd quit a Skirmish match by using an uncommon pulse rifle and an uncommon sniper from the Gunsmith.

I just changed with the times. I used to use suros, vision of confluence, oversoul, and now I use thorn. I want to go back to auto rifles though. But until then thorn for days.

I have currently been using the jewel for a few matches, just got another thorn bounty. I was still doing just fine. And why I use the thorn, it's about that W. Yeah I play for fun sometimes. But I'm competitive. I don't like losing. I'm sure you don't either? So guess what. I'm gonna use the best weapons at my disposal.

2 RepliesI've went flawless 4 times w/o TLW, Thorn, Red Death, or Vex (except for half one the first one). I am guilty of using shotguns, but usually at least one of us is sniping.

Because why not? I should also mention that I went flawless the first time I entered ToO and haven't played Destiny since, because I realize what a horrible game it is from what it was advertised in the beginning. I get on the forums from time to time when I'm in the shitter.

1 ReplyI can't speak as to the high level crucible players, but from a former athlete and someone with years experience as a military operator and law enforcement officer you always want to "practice how you're going to play." Granted the stakes are a little lower playing destiny but same principle applies I guess.

Depends, I occasionally use TLW in normal crucible because it is fun but my normal build is usually mythoclast/messenger/Random legendary

Don't relay on thorn, its just the best, so I use it.

I haven't used thorn since it used to "suck". I won't use it again until it receives a nerf. It's such a crutch and so blatantly overpowered.

Mostly I don't, but I do use it sometimes just to get "more in tune" with my guns.

2 Repliesonly time I use thorn in regular crucible is when more than half the other team has them equip and gets on my nerves. Other than that I like to use what ever gun I am trying to upgrade.

Yesterday on the anomaly I lost a 1v1 using vex against TLW at a good range. It just wasn't doing enough damage while TLW didn't seem to lose anything at range. So to answer your question -- regardless of game type, if you're not using a top tier weapon you're putting yourself at a disadvantage. Also, most people use regular crucible to practice for ToO. Oh, and Thorn has enough range to be used effectively on almost any map - it does take some practice to snipe headshots at scout/sniper range but it's certainly a useful skill/tactic for ToO.
