Honestly, I've skipped a lot of TWIDs lately because it's just one nerf after the next until you just wish that Flanders was dead.
(That's a Simpsons reference, edgelords, calm down)
But really, when reading the TWIDs these days, it's mostly just watching which weapons have to go back to the vault with nothing really to take its place.
Yes, some pedantic people may point out the buff that heavy GLs got, but honestly, it's not replacing rockets and the ammo economy isn't good enough to replace formerly good B&S weapons like linear fusions, which took yet another hit this week.
Just saying, Bungie, you post on Twitter "oh yes, it's a MEATY TWID THIS WEEK" but the bad news wildly outweighs the good news. Weapons are getting more obnoxious to use, abilities are getting less good again, and what few buffs there are don't make up for the nerfs.
A couple of suggestions.
Heavy GLs won't be "the meta" until you make them better than rockets
OR
until you tweak the ammo economy to make them better on longer damage phases like LFRs.
Nerfing B&S doesn't make GLs the "go to", and everybody knows it. We fell for that trick before Lightfall came out and we all grinded Wendigos that virtually none of us use because the buff wasn't enough.
But, without digressing too much more, how much would it hurt the nerf-happy developers to give us a TWID that is "just all buffs" for once? Something to get excited about. Nothing in your MEATY TWID this week (your words, not mine, Bungie) made me excited for anything. It just made my existing loadouts slightly less good, which is depressing, not exciting. I'm not digging Wendigo out of my vault because it's now 80% as good as rockets instead of 70% as good as rockets.
Please, we want MORE good things and LESS bad things. Not the other way around.

1 ReplyWeakness creep is real. Power creep a myth. Simply compare the d1 sandbox to now. Lethal grenades were on a 23 second cooldown.

Never , because there are too many individual snowflakes trying to -blam!- there way to a custom tailored sandbox The only time you will see buffs instead of nerfs is if people would try to clear the bar instead of wanting it lowered, good luck with that -
Id love some reworks to certain guns in general. for example: i firmly believe machine guns should all just have a faster reload when crouched. why? cause it just makes the gun more interesting to use. grenade launchers: should be a great aoe heavy weapon meant for crowd control rockets: single target damage, with some exceptions. swords: please let us stagger(parry) enemies if we block just before a attack. thatd be neat. to answer the topic question more directly: no we will not. Because the player base refuses to use the boring guns bungie wants to be the meta and way the game is played.

I’d settle for them leaving us the hell alone for five minutes at this point

1 ReplyOnly bad players not wanting to let go of there critches cry about nerfs!!!!!

I hate nerfs like most other people, but I couldn't care less about the meta. I'm sure it makes the game like .5% harder for me at some points, but at least I can just pick whatever weapon I want and go play the game.

2 RepliesEdited by BeerMeYouWill: 2/16/2024 5:37:20 PMNope. Been playing since D1 D1 and this is the status quo. They let a meta stay on top for a while then shake things up to encourage different play styles. Whether we wanted it or not,
" we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold."
Because it's easier to tweak a few strong items or abilities than it is to buff dozens of underperforming gear. If everything is weak then everything is strong in their eyes.

When the game become harder and harder. The ones that left are those who can solo grand grand grand master king cobra super raid in just 3 seconds with just using No Land Beyond only without ever reloading. Of course Bungie have to nerf the Sniper and make the raid has more champions. The will continue doing this until no one able to finish the Raid. For Bungie, Awesome game is the game that no one can play it. Bungie no need money, players always throwing money.

It would be a 1st

1 ReplyPersonally I feel like gls should be meta for things like burst damage

1 ReplyAt this point I’ve just accepted it. Well to be frank, I did like 50 ish balance patches ago, but still the point remains the same. No matter how badly we cry/plead against it it’s an inevitability. After all, this is their game, not our game even though we end up paying their bills.

Will we ever get a TWID where there are more buffs than nerfs?
quality>quantity You have no idea what the GL buff means. They already are meta in certain scenarios and both the reserves and the overall damage increase will push them to see use more often.
Nerfing B&S doesn't make GLs the "go to", and everybody knows it.
They never said it did and besides, B&S is what makes the best heavy GL the best. ----------------------- Having an everywhere-best is terrible, but you seem to universally want that by saying
Heavy GLs won't be "the meta" until you make them better than rockets
It is much more interesting when usecases define what's best.
until you tweak the ammo economy to make them better on longer damage phases like LFRs
Let's see what a ~30% (+) increase in ammo means for them. Besides, I'd rather see them buff/nerf in smaller steps to better adjust where to go instead of heavily swinging all the time. I like this one.
how much would it hurt the nerf-happy developers to give us a TWID that is "just all buffs" for once?
Why is this a thing? The quality of changes is the important part, no matter if buffs or nerfs. Some nerfs may even be healthy for the game.
Nothing in your MEATY TWID this week (your words, not mine, Bungie) made me excited for anything.
Maybe not for you but man, that GL buff is a thing I want to play out before judging. And the change to HE rockets ammo is great. These can now be at 9 rockets while keeping triple resist mods in locked loadout or if one is simply not interested in switching chestpieces all the time.
I'm not digging Wendigo out of my vault
Someone with your amount of playtime and experience should do better than that.

No. The drain will continue to be circled.

Typical bungie mo this. Done it for years, get the bad news out the way first then the good nearer paid content drops.

May be if sony take over ...

A whole lot of individual things got buffed in PvP. They just didn't list them individually but weapons should feel more interesting.
-
Yeah, that’s not going to happen. If they were even remotely competent, they would have buffed nearly everything until the end of the season. “Everything is crazy and broken in PvE. Go nuts! We’ll bring it back to normal at the start of The Final Shape.” But nope. It’s “here’s a laundry list of nerfs and mediocre changes to get you excited.” Like, WTF are y’all doing!?!? lol.

Best part of the Twab no smg nerf and no Dmt buff.
