Just the beginning....

Extra charge for dungeons. Next, they will charge for exotic quests and other in-game content. Aztecross mentioned this. It's coming. Greed.

  • They're charging Silver for Masks of the Lost that were obtainable for free, last season. That for me is a big red light

  • I don't mind any company making extra money using paywalls, a shop, etc... If that profit is being invested into the game. My issue is how this company is not really investing in this game. Destiny turned into a business, the worst thing that can ever happen to any game that dropped the idea of making a game for the player base as well. So, all the players that accept this model are why more gaming companies are following Bungie's path that is destroying what games are created for that most games are not even worth playing. Why make a new game as they "claimed they were doing", when we can put minimal effort into the game just contently reusing assets. I stopped buying the seasons because it's content being produced that is copy and paste work, that is uncreative work that is a waste of resources. I won't buy the paywall because it's more copy and paste work for $30 and using "it's their anniversary" to sell it. That's actually comical 😂🤦‍♂️ The lack of effort updating the existing content like creating maps for PvP, Gambit, or any inspiration to actually create ( new content that has fresh ideas.) The only time Bungie does anything and even then its content that is mediocre is an expansion that adds another destination that will instantly become a wasteland because this company majorly lacks the willingness to allow the devs that actually do the work to be creative. As I said, I don't mind them making money, but this treating your player base as some companies do with employees that have a high turnover is just wrong.

  • I just wish they give us the reason behind it instead of letting us gaslight ourselves trying to figure it out If a change is happening kinda want a reason for why instead letting me guess and go down a rabbit hole of theories

What is most shady is that Bungie is using FOMO as a marketing strategy. You don't have to buy access to everything now. You will have the option to upgrade later. You will just pay more for that upgrade than you would if you just buy it all now. It's like a sleezy salesman trying to pressure you into making an impulsive purchase by giving you a discount, but saying it is only good until the end of the day. And if you buy it all now, you have no idea if you will be getting Season of The Hunt or Season of Opulence for your money.

      • The minute they charge me extra for content outside of the season pass model is when I'm quitting for good. I've stuck through so much bullshit with this game, as well as bullshit from the community, but I stayed because I realized that I still enjoy the game. But if I can't access content without having to buy it separately, I'm simply not going to get it. I've been ok with the seasonal model up until recently, anything further is the wrong move

        • At first all you needed was to buy the game and that was enough. But then the base game wasn't enough, you also needed the expansions. Then the expansions weren't enough, you also needed the season pass. Now the season pass isn't enough, you also need to get the deluxe edition. When will enough be enough? Will everyone just roll over when it becomes exotic quests? Raids? Seasonal events? At one point does everyone figure out that they're being manipulated into paying more and more for less and less?

          • Yeah but the way it is now is that the first thing to remember is that if we don't have to wait for the best part about the same thing then what's the point in doing this again tonight or tomorrow

          • Supporting them by buying didn't help the game get better in the past. Nothing has improved in a couple of years. Now this? It will not get better. It's gotten worse. It's like the next step to pay-to-win. What's next, OP loot only accessible via extra paid content? I won't be surprised if they'll do this next to those extra paid content. They are testing the waters if community will bite this. Then they'll probably drop the bomb next. Don't forget stasis, a carrot they dangled on paid content. If supporting them didn't make the game better then, why keep doing it? Maybe leaving will help. It's time to go. Pack up and close up shop. Its time to take our business elsewhere. This is the time to make serious change. It didn't help or change the game before supporting them, it will not change now. Time to go. See you on the other side.

          • "I'm only buying the season pass because of the dungeon and raid"... well then why not pay for what you want without the extra stuff you DONT want? They aren't charging extra.. they are basically giving you the option of what content you wanna have without bundling it with stuff you don't wanna play.. People who buy the Deluxe Edition (80 bucks) get these dungeons for FREE.. people who pay for the standalone edition (40) can pay for the dungeons separately. With Bungie doing this, I'd have to assume that the Dungeons are not apart of any seasonal story.. At the moment, the deciding factor is the pricing.. nobody knows yet.. Right now we are all just speculating on what effect this idea has.. Man. People really don't want to think outside the box these days... they see "sold separately" and immediately think "greed"

            • They technically do charge for exotic quests. I can't do the quest for Dead Man's Tale because it requires season 13 (I'm a returning player), and the only way I can get season 13 is by buying the deluxe edition of Beyond Light. I already have Beyond Light through gamepass...

            • Too many people will pay for it. Then it will be heralded as a big success. That's why the cash shop is around, and similar in many different games; because it works.

            • It would be fine if the stuff was FUN. I bought all the Borderlands DLCs, the Control (Remedy) DLCs, etc, 'cause they were a lot of FUN and kept me entertained. I pay for movies that I only watch once too... I know, weird! But honestly, everything Bungie's been cranking out after Forsaken has been sooooooo boring! Most people don't really have an issue with paying for good game content, but man, the amount of sheer boring rng grind, reskins and same "stand on a plate" or "put the orb in the thing" is just ridiculous. "Return to vendor" are actually quest steps! It's the same crap each time just reskinned. That's not value, and it sure isn't FUN or entertaining. At this point they're getting by on "oh, look at me, I got Gallyhorn, see me flex!" The goal of the game is strictly to collect stuff to show off that you have it to other guardians. If you don't care what other people think, then this game is pretty shallow.

            • Coming? The past year saw Hawkmoon, Dead Man's Tale and Agir's Scepter locked behind the Season Pass. Also, not to beat a dead horse, but Bungie is a business. It's just a matter how people value the content that they make. Some want $10(ish) bucks to go a long way with fulfuling content over the course of several months, others know they're getting drip-fed. It's up to you and you alone if you think it's worth the money being asked for.

              • "the brightest days of destiny are ahead" - every Bungie ad slogan for the next fall expansion. (Meanwhile deleting more content from an MMO (MASSIVE multiplayer online game, than adding content), yea sure buddy, very bright days where an mmo shrinks rather than growing LOL.

                • We still have yet to see a Taken King sized expansion in D2. Forsaken is the closest TTK was only $40 and gave us 3 new subclasses, 4 strikes, 12 exotics, a new 9 person public activity (Court of Oryx), 8 new story missions, 8 new pvp maps, 2 new pvp modes (mayhem and rift). We've already gotten more content for less money in previous seasons. D1 isn't exactly a live service game anymore, no more events like FoTL or Dawning but everything I paid for is still in the game. (All raids, strikes, campaign and story missions, armor, weapons, ornaments ect.) I've preordered every Expansion since TTK including the $100 Witch Queen anniversary bundle and the $100 Vanilla D2 Deluxe and I'm fine with everything except the constant content vaulting and sunsetting. Not having access to roughly $170 of the $340 I've spent on content so far doesn't feel that terrific to me.

                  •
Next, they will charge for exotic quests and other in-game content.
You mean, like buying a Seasonal DLC? Oh no, the humanity... Everyone complaining about this announcement clearly haven't thought it through: - If you like playing seasonal AND endgame content, get the Deluxe Edition and you are paying the same as past years. - If you only like playing endgame content, get the base version of Witch Queen for $40 and just the dungeons and save money on content you don't want to play. - If you only like playing seasonal content, this doesn't affect you. And on top of that, you were probably getting the Deluxe Edition anyway, or if not, even if you only purchased individual seasons, you can later upgrade to the Deluxe Edition which will cost the same as it does now. Please provide a single situation where a player plays throughout D2Y5 of the game and has to pay more for content they want to play.

                    • I'm interested to see how good this new content is. If it's better than Taken King, fine. I'm willing to pay that amount of money for that. $100 bucks for a grown adult is chump change for what's likely to be 100+ hours of "content". I say content in quotes cause I'm not entirely sure as to how good this expansion is gonna be. It's impossible to trust trailer videos anyways. "This will be Destiny's definitive campaign!". Like seriously? We can only be fed the same -blam!- over and over and still believe it. What I hate. Is that Destiny's content is at it's best when it first comes out. While secrets are fresh and everyone is at a level playing field. Bungie of course knows this, and that's why they are pushing the deluxe edition with the anniversary bundle. I'd say vote with your wallets and see if we can hold the wall. But no one is going to do that. Because who the hell actually cares? Thousands of grown adults who don't keep up to date on info and have $100 to blow are gonna buy it anyways. Bungie WILL make their money here. This complaining is pointless. Just like it always has been.

                      • You already pay for dungeons. When Shadowkeep and Foresaken first dropped it wasn't free. Exotic quests? Hawkmoon and Dead man's tale ring a bell? Extra cash was handed out for both. I think you and ross should get together and figure this out.

Lmao you don't have to spend the $$.. I don't understand how people can be so cheap If you don't like the game or don't want to support it there's a simple solution. Delete your characters and uninstall the game.
