Aren’t the profits from these supposed to go towards things like events in the game? So why are all the events just more money grab grind fests like the Yawning?
So what are micro transactions funding other than your wallets and pockets?

Ironically, you could actually get all eververse items for free a year from now. The gear and most ornaments from this season will be distributed in the eververse engram eventually after a year, so nothing is really needed to buy from eververse, except finishers and universal armor ornaments of course.

7 RepliesI don't know why i'm still surprised and amazed by the insolent greed and selfishness that can be found in this community... There's always people like you and those who support your posting here, just look... There's a lot of them. A lot of ignorant, self absorbed children who think everything in Destiny should be free. "WHERES OUR MONEY GOING?! I THOUGHT IT WAS SUPPOSED TO MAKE EVENTS BETTER!" This... isn't how business works, this isn't how the world works, hell this isn't even how humanity works. It's simple... People. Must. Be. Paid. For. Their. Work. If you had anything other than greed and self interest kicking around that head and heart of yours, you'd have bothered to simply "Google" Bungie's financial reports, as with most large companies, these are made available to the public. UNSURPRISINGLY - Majority of earned income for their business goes into... take a wild guess. 1.) DEVELOPMENT AND PRODUCTION 2.) EMPLOYEE SALARIES AND HOURLY PAY There are always people in this community that think Destiny 2 should be a 100% free full access game. Guess what... That lil' Sparrow you're flying around on? That new planet you've been flopping about on, The new ship you're flying, the New raid you're trying to run, The new dungeons, textures, lore, audio files, voice overs, quests, NPC's, currencies, weapons, armor, exotics... Guess what... IT DOESN'T COME OUT OF THIN AIR! It takes PEOPLE to develop these! It's not something you just buy for $20 on a website, you have to pay employees and hires to have these created, voiced, made. "Where's all my money from buying silver going - I should have more to do - You should be spending my money on making the event more interesting!" The money is going towards making sure you have a game to play to begin with. You have plenty to do, just because you rush through content as fast as humanly possible doesn't mean there's a lack of content, it means you're a glutton and need to practice self-control or alternative means of entertaining yourself in game. If they spent as much money on developing events as most people with your opinion suggest, the game would NEVER get new Seasons, Expansions or Content. They likely wouldn't even be able to afford signing the paychecks for many of the employees on Destiny's team. Grow up. Stop your Whining. If you aren't having fun, go try something else for a bit.

Welp....you got payroll, electric bills, water bills, gotta pay that building lease. That asphalt parking lot needs repair and re-striped and Julio and his crew keeping the landscape trimmed proper... Uncle Sam is about to put his hand out... Shall I continue?

1 Replyit would have been nice to have like how blizz does wow with mini events, with new bosses with cool gear. like having armor that has a constant snow effect would have been cool. they could have made it only for paying players and then some new legendaries for everyone. put srl back into the game. new winter themed maps for crucible and gambit....but nope grind and grind for nothing anyone really wants

8 Repliesit's astounding that people expect a company to not try and make money. it's astounding that useless cosmetic items get people so worked up over an optional buy. it's astounding that after seeing a several year pattern people still have the gall to act as if it's the first time they've tried to sell things and post about it.

2 RepliesEdited by deadly-cause: 12/29/2020 10:06:58 AMI remember awhile back they said it also goes towards development for exotic quests (back in the days of whisper and outbreak) we haven’t had anything to that scale since. Recently it was said to support them since the split from activision. Though I don’t see how or why because they’re making the same if not more from DLCs (which have been half arsed in my opinion). Difference is they don’t have to share in the profits anymore. It’s just down to greed now. I get they’re a business and need to make money, but when they don’t care about their player base, it’s getting hard to stick by them. People can use the whole “the game is free to play, blah blah blah” all they want, fact is, we still pay upwards of $50 ( for me in Australia it’s $105 with the season passes, $60 without) for the DLC yearly, plus season passes. it’s not “free to play”, giving that 40% of the free to play aspect was removed (vanilla campaign, Osiris, warmind, raids etc) it’s a bare bones shell now for those who opt not to pay. Look at the crappy events they do. The dawning and Halloween events in particular have not changed at all over the last 3-4 years of their existence in D2) we’ve had 2 “new” events introduced which were guardian games and revelry which both sucked.

1 ReplyRemember when Luke Sunset Smith said, "Money from the Whisper ornament paid for the mission for Outbreak." Yeah, Pepperidge Farms remembers too!

2 RepliesIts a free to play game. Bungie has to bring in money year round. I have no issues with eververse sinces its all useless cosmetics. Now the rehashed content has nothing to do woth any of that. The issue is bungie. They are not nearly as creative as many believe (or they believe). Now the reason for this is unknown to us. Could be just a general lack of direction, lack of inspiration, lack of actually listening to the player base, or the fact they took china money for a new ip. Whatever the reason. Its on Bungie to figure it out and fix it. And if the past two years have taught us anything its they either dont know how to fix it or dont care.

30 RepliesI knew somone would come on this post and post the BS that Destiny is "free to play". it's not, it's free to explore some of the content. Free to play games don't sell expansions and lock players out of content. As far as the OP post. Bungie is most likely using it for their other projects like Matter because it's clear as day that that money made from expansions and the shop barely even go into the game that they are reusing old content to and calling it "new content". Even the new destination was paid for when D1 released. Think about that one for a moment when D1 had over 25 million registers.
-
Having seasons, expansions, AND eververse feels pretty ridiculous. It's also really funny how players will heavily criticize eververse, while others get mad that there isn't an Anarchy ornament.
-
Yeah, like three years ago that went to making Rise of Iron free. I think they cancelled that policy when D2 came out. I'm pretty sure 95% of your microtransaction purchase goes straight to the shareholders' pockets these days.

105 RepliesEdited by Jvp WReNCh: 12/29/2020 4:29:16 PMThey literally made D2 free to play, but okay lol Edit: for all you people that don't have dictionary access & want to shout your feelings at me, preface your ridiculous comments by telling me how much your respective online console stores charge you to download & play D2.
-
Because it was a flat out lie and bungo is also not innovated.
-
Can we not call them "Micro Transactions". $0.32 is a Micro Transaction. $7 for a weapon skin is extortion.
-
I wanna know who in bungie marketing thinks 'micro' equates to 3 sets of ornaments that cost as much as the base game
-
Keep the game alive
-
Except that they're not micro at all anymore. $.99 - $5.00 is a micro-transaction... $10.00 - $20.00 and up??? We're getting into full blown DLC pricing now...

Aren’t the profits from these supposed to go towards things like events in the game? So why are all the events just more money grab grind fests like the Yawning? So what are micro transactions funding other than your wallets and pockets?
Please don't tell me anyone actually ever believed this. I thought it was the most obvious work-around to getting direct revenue from customers without going through publishers to pay (Activision). Bungie's revenue margin is CRAZY high compared to game development. It is easily the biggest reason Bungie keeps pushing it. It makes complete sense from a business profit standpoint. If customers are satisfied *just enough* to keep buying the base game, then there will be the whales that turn so much profit. Anyone could just ask themselves - why would Bungie switch to a Free-to-Play model? They are still rolling in Silver profits. And the players ALL receive less of a game from it. Want to know why sunsetting was so poorly implemented?

1 ReplyHoly shit the amount of corporate bootlicking in these replies is just incredible. The lack of dignity and standards the Bungie apologists have is truly something to behold. -blam!- all the core playlists, who needs variety. -blam!- new content when you can copy-paste content from D1. -blam!- new events when you can copy-paste events 3 years in a row now. -blam!- you for expecting anything decent for the amount of money you pay year after year. Bungie is a small indie-company that is so, SO generous for offering you a complete shell of a """Free""" to Play experience! Shut up you entitled little shit and stop playing if you don't like it! Now come back here Luke, your boots are starting to look dry again!

What would be exciting for you?

2 RepliesEdited by lCertifiedl: 12/29/2020 9:17:30 PMAll that money and it's basically the same event, the fan boys love it though, that's what matters. You get content filled expansion passes though...ow wait wrong game.
-
1 Replylining the pockets of the people that own Bungie. come on people buying all that silver do you really think this goes back into the game or the Devs who work hard on the game. there's no reason for the lack of content. just bosses wanting more money and not willing to put it back into the game
-
They aren't even micro. 20 DOLLARS for ONE SET OF ARMOUR ORNAMENT?
-
As a alpha tier/pinnacle level/high ranking/professional gamer I fervently disagree with the premise of your post.
PS I’m a wayfarer and D1 pre alpha vet.
-
Why are the event's a copy and paste every year?
-
Basically. It's "Free-to-play" with virtually no content if you haven't bought something, whether it's the $40 Beyond Light, the $10 season pass that you have to keep paying for, or the previous two expacs that have no content that hasn't been "sunset" but Bungie is making damn sure you've still gotta pay for if you want to play it.
