https://www.sciencealert.com/scientists-have-finally-achieved-direct-counterfactual-quantum-communication
Scientists have discovered a means of communication that doesn't send any particles of any kind from one point to another and it doesn't use quantum entanglement (the spooky particles)! This could be the answer to instantaneous communications on at least an interstellar scale. Pretty amazing stuff, guys!

4 RepliesCan you dumb this down to something that my peanut sized brain would understand? If you don't mind

4 RepliesSo we can have instantaneous communication on a monumental scale... ...BUT MY TOASTER STILL SHOOTS MY TOAST AT A MILLION MILES PER SECOND

5 RepliesEdited by o r c a: 5/5/2019 10:58:15 AMHmmm.. off topic really is off topic. Mind if I take shelter from the salt rains of the main forums? And this is such a cool concept. One step closer to interstellar communication I guess :)) By interstellar communication I mean rapid communication to using radiowaves

2 RepliesYou lost me at quantum cuz I’m an idiot but sounds pretty cool

1 ReplyI bet the first message they sent was an Endgame spoiler.

How ironic that it's during the release of Endgame.

1 ReplySo like.... Anyone wanna pull a time heist?

I always liked to think stuff like this was always Sci-Fi. Stuff that would happen only in moves/comics like Ant-Man. But holy -blam!- man. It’s actually -blam!-ing possible... You can’t see it but I am shitting myself over this. I need a full printout to show my old science teacher this.

6 RepliesSo let me get this straight. We have the potential to develop faster than light communication... But not commercially available space flight? ... WHAT IN THE EVER LIVING -blam!-, HUMANITY?

Old news, I was using QE comms back in ME3.

1 ReplyI just read that article and it made no sense whatsoever. That’s some pretty cool stuff tho

I have no idea what that is but it sounds cool

7 RepliesHell yea!

That's some pretty awesome shit right there. I don't know much about science, but I still find stuff like this fascinating.
-
2 RepliesAren’t they using light to transmit the message tho? So like how does it work from California to NY?

1 ReplyEdited by Uncanny_Vale: 5/4/2019 10:43:50 PMQuantum physics is one of those weird things where the more I read about it the less I understand. I’m fascinated by it, but it seriously hurts my brain.

6 RepliesYou humans are finally starting to recapture the fundamentals of magic. Except this time, it wasn’t handed to you on a silver platter like giving a sword to a 5 year old child. You’re discovering it, slow and steady. Maybe this time you’ll respect it and it won’t corrupt your entire race rampantly.

2 RepliesWhy's the first thing to come to mind "Oooooh better ping!" When I'm pretty sure that's not the intended use.
