Now you've probably come in here thinking "Here we go. Another player who goes to bed after kissing each of their shotguns goodnight."
Well you are wrong. I despise shotguns. I would rather stop playing Destiny than to run around with a Shotgun in the Crucible.
So why do I think that shotguns should be left alone? They do what they are suppose to do at close range. It's aggravating, at the time, to be wrecking balled in Trials with one guy shotgun rushing but kudos to you if you do this a lot.
The main issue is the fact that when you look at subclass abilities, try and spot how many support sniping? maybe one or two? How about fusion rifles? Or maybe sidearms? Now think of how many support Shotgunning?
Juggernaut Shield. As funny as it is to see a Juggernaut Sidearm combo, you will see a shotgun out and ready for you as soon as you see the sprint shield drop. Amplitude is just crazy range. Smoke grenades slow you down and cover my screen with a black bin liner/bag filter. Tether makes mopping up groups of enemies with a shotgun child's play. Fast Twitch and a Shotgun pretty much guarantee a shotgun melee kill every time. Blink shotgunning will always be a thing. Closing the gap with Shadestep or Twilight Garrison. I could go on forever.
So either change abilities to support other special weapon types or change some of the abilities to support the shotgunning playstyle less. This will encourage using other special weapons more.
Also buffing primaries is not the answer. People will be making youtube videos shouting "Use your special weapon dude!" I think a couple of archetypes need a nerf *cough* pulse rifles *cough*. However I would like to see the lowest RoF archetypes kill the fastest but penalise you heavily when you miss a shot/burst. However that's just me.

3 RepliesI've been shot numerous times by shotguns at scout rifle distances. That's an issue. For the record, I never use a shotgun or juggernaut with my titan. Its too easy to get kills (and I suck at PvP).
