Being a girl on destiny
Have you guys ever been around females before ? Now if it doesn't apply let it fly but to those boys/men who always wanna ask our age & where we're from I mean seriously I had men that don't even speak english try their best to flirt with me. Us females dont have time for that or want to even engage in that , you just make us very uncomfortable & to be pretty honesty its pathetic. I'm on the game for the same reasons you guys are to get good loot & to get good period !
Edit 1 : I do realize that speaking for all females was wrong. 2 like I said to those who do flirt with females everyone else it doesn't apply too. Number 3 there's always a right & wrong way to go about having conversations everyone can tell when they're being flirted with. & lastly number 4 I'm not full of myself but I guess since you can flirt with people you've never seen before you can definitely judge people you've never seen before

14 RepliesI think the issue that many are missing is that females shouldn't have to go the extra step to get males to back off. They should be able to play video games without worry of any harassment due to their sex, just like males. Peoples sex, gender, sexual orientation, and personal traits should not be the topic of conversation when meeting strangers for the first time. At the most you can ask what their gender is, but it's really pointless. Let people game in peace and have fun.

13 RepliesI am a female gamer, and while I have had a few bad experiences (random blueberries in crucible on my team spending their time meleeing me or tbagging me instead of killing the other team) most of my experiences have been good. The only time I bring my gender up is if someone confuses me for a squeaker. Most people can distinguish female voices from male voices, so why make it an issue? And if someone does flirt with you so what? It's not like they are going to hunt you down and stalk you IRL, it's usually just curiosity. I get flirted with IRL much more often than online, and deal with it the same way, accept compliments and move on. Yes, there are times that it can get out of hand online because the anonymity gives socially inept people the confidence to say things they wouldn't say face to face, but one day those people will venture out of their parent's basement and realize how inappropriate they are. These posts don't help anything and only make female gamers sound like whiners. I'm not trying to be insensitive, but if you develop a thicker skin you will probably have a lot more fun in the game.

As a girl I'd like to say you're probably playing with the wrong people then. I frequent destinylfg.com and almost every team I've been in has treated me with respect. The most disrespect I've gotten was from a kid who called me a b*ch and not because I was a woman either, just out of habit. People ask where I'm from because I have an accent, not because I'm a girl. If you're down to earth and in the right mindset people will usually follow that with how they treat you. If you're disrespected make it known you won't tolerate it (I personally just go "don't -blam!-ing talk to me like that" and they treat me better afterwords) Apologies for the long post. A lot of older people play this game versus COD or Halo in my experience so I actually enjoy this community more.

2 RepliesSeriously what is wrong with some "girl gamers!!" The top two questions I will ask gamers is 1.Where they live/time zone. I am in live on the west coast of North America and want to be mindful of the time of others when I am playing at night. It also helps when setting up pvp games to avoid lag or matching other teams. 2. How old they are. Honestly this is just a curiosity for me that can reveal a lot about a gamer and opens up a real conversation. Destiny is a social game and I don't want to play with bots who can only spout out facts about the game. Why can't I treat everybody equally? Instead I am forced to avoid asking these questions to females so I don't get misunderstood. I will not deny you actually have been hit on in perverted and creepy ways, but why do I have to change to accomedate? (Thought/rant vomit complete)

I've not had anyone ask my age or try to "hook up", but then I rarely get on mic with strangers. The group I run with is mostly male and at least three of them I know in person - and those are the people that make jokes, mostly about me dying a shitload. It's all in good fun. If you get butthurt by people making comments, then get off mic. It's not hard. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Asking someone where there from is a normal question, as can be age, but you seem to think you're above these questions because you're a girl? I think in this instance you need to stop being so sensitive, and lower that ego, just because someone asks you where you're from, it doesn't mean they're hitting on you. Hell, I'm gay and have asked these questions to women before. Would you be cool with a gay female asking you? Tldr - asking someone their age isn't flirting.

Actually I have a question, as I assume you aren't the only woman playing this game with this problem. Do women find overt misogyny, the kind that results in comments about kitchens and sandwiches and catcalls, or the more passive misogyny, where a guy who discovers you're a woman feels the need to "chat you up" by asking the age and location questions, more disturbing?
