Banes are annoying and not challenging.

Healing is way to strong and will turn enemies immortal pretty much. Shielded does almost the same as healing. Slow, a moving Dusk field nade, just what i needed. Front facing shield has a terrible hitbox and it can be annoying to get around them to kill them. Gravity, yeah real fun to have a Vortex grenade spawn on you. Real challenging. Shield drone, hitting those drones is tedious as the enemy keeps on moving around. Rage, Like Banes didn't already have more health than normal. Hypernova, Why is the blast radius, radius random in size ? also why is the damage that too ? can be on the other side of the room and can see the blast radius and i will just drop down dead. Even though the blast never reached me. Other times it will just deal around half when i am near it ?? Ok. Why do Bungie think that tedium = challenge ? Well it does not.

      Banes are better than Champions as far as "difficult enemy" design goes. Some of them are obnoxious though, especially Caltrops. Both them and Duskfield enemies are programmed to charge you constantly and that's what makes them a pain. The only problem with Hypernova is that on harder difficulties the damage resistance/health bonus they get when detonating can make killing them before the explosion unlikely. Not to mention all the other enemies blasting you the whole time you're trying to keep them from exploding can just kill you outright at those difficulties. I think you can hide behind objects to avoid the explosion but I haven't been able to get that to work 100% of the time so maybe not. Shield Drone and Front Shield are both countered by the same thing: Anti-Barrier. You can basically ignore these effects if you have an Anti-Barrier weapon though the shielded enemy does have more EHP when dealing with them this way than the base enemy. I never found Healing or Shielded to be a problem. Maybe you're using Primary weapons and that's why they're a pain for you? That says more about how weak Primaries are though than anything else and Primary weapons have been known to be terrible at even moderately increased difficulty.

      Couldn't agree more, banes and modifiers and all this new forced "challenge" is not enjoyable, nor does it add anything to the game, it's all just insanely annoying and anti-fun. Edit: Changed a word to placate the nitpicking trolls who are more interested in attacking people's imperfect word choice than acknowledging the issues with this dying game.

      • The modifiers are freaking annoying man. Chill Touch is probably my most hated one. Once a thrall hits you and the gang behind him goes all over you and then BOOM the thrall explodes 👎

          I enjoyed the introduction of banes back in the final shape days. But since eof is like coming up with any and every possible way to negate an enjoyable experience and slow us down significantly. If GMs were like the old pre portal GMs, I would run them for the sake of the challenge and sometimes painful failure without needing the rewards. It was just fun to me. Now it feels artificially difficult for no reason. It feels like they gave the reigns to fanfiction type player/devs and stopped caring.

          • No one these days can do difficulty right any more. Every time now it's: * As Tom Christie/ He-Man said, over complicated mechanics and bullet sponge bosses * Negating our progress without equal rewards * No cover to work with against infinite hordes of enemies * Timers * Inconsistent scalings * "Surprise" attacks like an enemy teleporting where they're not supposed to * Removing parts of our HUD * Or in other games, death won't be because YOU screwed up but because you literally couldn't see what killed you thanks to the 80+ enemies and 40+ particle effects and such on screen or near if not impossible to react to attacks What happened to actual difficulty where it was just more plentiful and/ or aggressive enemies that were harder hitting and more durable, but still allowed you to match or exceed them when the game had a leveling system? There's a HUGE difference between difficulty and complete bs, and that's probably all most games have these days.

            Those void bombs/ spheres, are a new annoyance too, instant death from full health, if you get caught inside it It's like they have an R&D department, specializing in tedious, annoying, petty, miserly things, which they can add into the game, to try and make it harder Unlike certain other games, this one does not have a combat system, it's a shooter, supposedly! So they resort to this, but man do they need to stop Hire someone else, for crying out loud Edit: the enemies are tanky as hell too, more so than some of the hardest parts of the game by a huge margin, and the ammo is a real problem, if this sandbox is about ability spam, how come I don't feel like I got any on most hunter subclasses, beside strand for instance? Warlocks and titans feel far more powerful next to me in mission, they slay out, and spring me out of trouble a lot of the time

            • That's one of the challenges of balancing a game.... An individuals idea of challenge and fun is subjective... That's why having a selection of activities and challenge levels is important... The patchwork nature of the games engine is heavily responsible for many of destiny's problems and slows down every and all processes to update balance and fix the game as a whole... And so many inconsistencies exist because the code is not compartmentilised for easy modifications...

              Your builds/gear are not good, of course you're struggling. But let me guess... That's not your normal gear and you were messing around or experimenting with something before you logged off? Banes are fine. And don't @ me about my Getaway Artists or meta builds.

              • If i run solo content i don't use any. Just 2 modifiers like hot step and invisible enemies or blasts + pressure cooker and if i want A+ avant guarde. The only one that i really hate are the drones on content you can't change. 🤔 Not hard to deal with just annoying. Every other one is pretty simple to deal with. Healing, just target the ad with the healing buff not the ones around it, rage pretty easy to dispatch with any special, front shielded one any gun that has anti barrier does the job.

              • They're just overused. Unlike Champions which are placed sparingly throughout an activity.
