I have played quite a bit of it. The only other extraction shooter type game I have played, was the division dark zone thing. Extraction shooters wouldn't be 'my thing', but I wanted to give it a fair shot. I dunno man, it's got a hook, a special sauce, even when you lose all your kit. It play differently depending on what you want to do. I sometimes solo and be all sneaky like. Other times I load in with randoms (infils) and it can go downhill quickly, or you manage to tame the lobby. I don't even think there's an actual 'grind'. You can scavenge and steal a lot of stuff for your vault. Rook (Scavenger class) loads in with basic load-out, 18-10 minutes before then end of a run, with trio teams. Is it a grind to sneak into Pinwheel (best loot) and loot the bodies of dead teams, who fought so hard to get there? Nah, its fun, and tense, and filled with dread, all in one go. I'm a below mid PvP player; You don't have to be the best, tactics and getting the drop on someone will often win. Sound design is fantastic and if you don't play with a headset on, you're doing it wrong. Gear I have in my vault I have mostly stolen from other players. Loot is fairly abundant at low-mid game. You stop caring when you lose everything to an enemy team, or rook. Find a top tier weapon on a downed runner? Grab it, exfil, and leave in your vault. Those are the things you stash for end game builds. Overall it's tense, fun, and there that feeling of 'just one more run' when you either lose, or exfil successfully. Is it the next big thing for Bungie? No. Is it going to die a death; Also No. They may just carve out a niche in the market with Marathon. It does things other extraction shooters don't do. The different shells, build crafting, endgame stuff. It like a hero shooter, rpg, looter extraction shooter, or something. It has kinda reignited my 'love' of gaming to be honest. It's addictive and very fun. I'm bad at pvp so I like playing in a pre-made squad of other people who ARE good at PVP or when I am solo: Rook runs are super fun being a vulture and scooping up all the body bag loot.
