The dark ages, were a time of enlightenment, a time of philosophy and broader thinking, a time for art and architectural beauty. It was a time of of most importance, the expansion of the human mind! If it were not for the middle ages we would never have had the intelligence to even think up something such as harnessing electricity let alone a computer.
