This is How You Will Get More Players Into Crucible

What annoys every average player the most? Getting pooped on by a slide shotgunner, a guy that doesn’t miss his snipes, and a person clutching on Arbelest. If you want people to feel like they have a fighting chance inside the crucible, and even keep sweats like myself happy within crucible, then you have to force players to rely on primary gun skill, not their shotgun, fusion rifle, or sniper. Without going back to double primaries (which I believe was the most balanced sandbox Destiny has ever had... SCOUT RIFLES were even good), you will have to do something like you did in D1, which was start every player off with no special ammo, forcing them to use their primaries for at least the first 30-45 seconds of the match/round. I could honestly care less about quickplay because that’s meant to be chaotic, but a system like this has to be implemented into Trials and Comp. Ultimately, you guys nailed it back in D1 with the special ammo change. I remember actually having fun in Trials back then. Now in comp and Trials, I just get burnt out so fast after facing players that never switch off their shotguns or snipers. I think a change like this would really healthy for Destiny and a welcome change by 95% of the destiny community. Give it some thought.

  • Here's how you actually help crucible: Revert back to 4v4 like how 80% of the maps were designed to play, or make maps that are actually designed for 6v6. Right now maps are designed for 4 fewer people than lobbies hold and so no matter how many shotgun or special ammo nerfs you do, shotguns will always be dominant.

    • I am pretty average or even worse, and I am doing fine with scouts especially Mida. On other side I also use felwinter - you have to, meta kinda force you. Idk how they adapted snipes, havent played when this twab was released, but I got my issues with hitting some shots now. Flinch and weaker aim assist are noticeble, atleast at legendary snipes. I got a feeling that exotic snipers still got a strong aimassist/bulletmagnetism. Usually I am running my Mida, but if I meet some decent MnK player he will just delete me with 3 tabs on AoS or Thorn.

      • I'd been usinbg default controls for six years. I set up a custom map now and actually enjoy crucible.

        If youre actually wanting this, then the player-base will plummet rapidly. Removing special ammo is what made Y1 of D2 the worse time of PvP and Y3 of D1 reduced to an Icebreaker fest. A reduction in special is something I truly want as it incentivizes people to use a primary and as player who sweats in every game and plays sweats and scrims like a total no life that I am, I truly wanna be in a sandbox like that, but straight up removing is straight up an awful idea that will slow the game down considering primaries are just weak in comparison. A good idea is to remove scavengers and make it so kills with a primary drop special.

          • No. And the end of d1 saw numbers decline due to the special nerf as well as other things. A game that is made of space magic... primary fights is not your target audience. You want skill gap closers. The prime of destiny was about this very approach. Take hawkmoon... luck in the chamber was a skill gap closer. The try hards and Sherpas did not like this rng “luck” .... but they do not like anything that kills them. So who are these “skilled” players to say how the game should be? The customizable skill tree, crutch grenades, wide ranging exotics that boosted aspects(some cheesy, some skill based), and weapons that allows a wide range of players to find their “thing” made this game fun. Everyone has an “opinion”... but numbers and money does not lie. Back in d1 you main-ed a class. As bungie started forcing meta changes and leaning on op “mistakes” in year two of d1.... that is what started killing the games “fun”. Players getting beyond serious, looking for advantages, going try hard started to bring the game down. Modded controllers, xim connectors or Cronus, lag switching, packet loss.... < who wants to go play trials in that atmosphere? Heck, even quick play saw the spread of six stacks with half the team playing with advantages because they want to look “cool”. That is not your casuals getting “stomped”, that is your tryhards ruining the fun in the game: This game should favor a balanced set in stone time to kill, and let our iq’s take over per the loot we play pve for. Just like d1 launched.

            • That change resulted in one of the biggest drops in player numbers ever. Primary gun fights are still the majority in the system we have now, feels free to look up the numbers yourself.

            • They have done nothing to crucible in awhile other than remove content and add problems. Crucible is dead in this game, there are a few holding on to a little hope that Bungie will miraculously care and become competent all of the sudden. If you are a hardcore pvp guy then you will have to find another game as this is not a game of gun skill.

              I feel the crates restrict the game flow too much. It's an old system that should stay in the archives. Agreed that special ammo's been way too abundant ever since the current system came in. Minimum 3 OHK ammo for every 1 OHK kill has way too much overflow. Maybe disable scavengers in pvp and make green bricks drop only on non-special gun kills? That might make special ammo actually special instead of being primary and white ammo actually primary instead of secondary. Special would still have noticeable presence in the games, but counting / considering ammo could actually be a regular thing in decision making instead of a rarity. Sure might birth a new generation of nkuching, but even that's better than the OHK galore?
