Okay, so this is a long rant-style forum post which is ultimately going to have some criticisms, but there will be feedback to Bungie and I hope this gains some traction all things considered. I'm gonna separate it out section by section, but it'll almost entirely be focused around the new Stasis subclasses. I won't be commenting much on Hunter's as I've not really seen anything about them good or bad, nor do I have a hunter to actually comment about it on, so this is mainly going to be a comparison between Behemoth and Shadebinder. With all that out of the way, let's get started.
TOO LONG, I DON'T WANNA READ
TL;DR > Titans need some form of buff, especially to their Fragment counts, seeing as we only get one fragment and an average-at-best Aspect, while Warlocks get the best Aspect in-the-game-so-far with three fragment slots, meaning they get a stronger aspect, and stronger Fragment builds than anyone else in the game while Titans get the worst of both Aspects and Fragments
ASPECTS AND FRAGMENTS
This is by far the worst thing about Titans so far when compared to Warlocks right now. It's a new week with Destiny 2 this week, Season of the Hunt has just released yesterday to mixed reception. Personally, I'm liking it, but that's not what I'm here to discuss, and there are no new Aspects for Stasis customisation. This is a problem. At the moment, Titans have one aspect, which provides one fragment slot; and this aspect isn't that great all things considered. A longer slide on a three second cooldown that lets us shatter crystals is fine, but that's all it is. It's just fine, it's painfully average and incredibly underwhelming. But by far the biggest kick in the teeth is the fact that it only grants ONE fragment slot. ONE... Compare that to Warlocks, who get ANOTHER insta-freeze when their already-frozen target gets killed, and they get to use THREE fragment slots. Not only is the Warlock aspect incredibly powerful compared to the Titan one, but it also allows you to use THREE OF THE FOUR FRAGMENTS THAT ARE AVAILABLE, while us Titans only get to choose just ONE. I'm sure it doesn't take a genius to figure out that there's a MAJOR problem there. The other problem is that the only other Titan Aspect we've seen has Two fragment slots (shown off here: https://www.bungie.net/en-us/Explore/Detail/News/49483 ), meaning that when Titans eventually get their second aspect, we'll be at the point where Warlocks currently are on fragment usage, while Warlocks will then be able to pass us again. At this point alone, I question whether or not Bungie seems to actually care about Titans as a whole, as we seem to get the table scraps whenever it comes to Supers (look at how busted the targeting is on Spectral Blades compared to the completely unusable targeting on Sentinel), and now we're having our customisation limited to the point where it's not even able to compete with the other classes, completely throwing away any form of balance even within class customisation.
STASIS ABILITIES
I briefly touched on this in the section above, but can we talk about how our melee has no range compared to the others? The new melee on the Titan is great, and I love it a lot, but there's one major problem with it. We still don't have a ranged melee for anything that isn't middle-tree Hammers. Warlocks get a pair of shuriken, which are thrown and are able to freeze people. Warlocks get a staff that shoots an insta-freezing projectile, similar to the coldsnap grenade. Titans get a shoulder-charge that doesn't need to be charged up, but then can't even freeze an enemy unless either they're stuck in a duskfield grenade, or slowed, but not frozen, by a teammate. Once again, Titans are given the short end of the stick (pun intended). We have to get close and personal to use our melee ability, which means in PvP we're just gonna get shotgunned by someone close by, while Warlocks and Hunters get an insta-freeze, somewhat-aoe melee that they can fire from quite a long distance away. I don't want a huge rework to this, but I think that the tiny AOE that comes out of the new melee needs its range extended, and it should be able to freeze nearby enemies that are in close proximity similar to how the Shadebinder melee works.
Obviously seeing as all three classes have the same grenades, I can't complain about those individually, and the complaints I do have are caused by the Warlock aspect that I mentioned above.
As for the Super I don't have many complaints, other than the fact that the super does significantly less damage than the warlock and hunter counterparts... I guess I should have titled this section STASIS MELEE ABILITIES instead, huh...
SUMMARY OF THOUGHTS ON THE TITAN SO FAR
So, given that Titans have currently got one aspect, that allows us one fragment to be equipped, which only really gives us a long slide ability, and the second aspect coming is just "you get more melee energy from picking up stasis shards", meanwhile Warlocks get an aspect to get a second freezing projectile for free every time you kill a frozen opponent, a free freeze on everyone nearby when you cast your rift, more fragment slots than any other class at the moment, and (unless the second Titan aspect has changed since it was shown) more fragment slots overall than the Titan will ever get (again subject to, which will hopefully happen because it's going to be even more unfair if there isn't any, change), and it's very clear that Bungie either doesn't care about the fact that, or just outright doesn't want, Titans to be balanced with the other classes, and instead are making us underpowered and underwhelming seemingly across the board, while making Warlocks incredibly powerful and Hunters somewhere in-between the two. And bearing in mind, this thread isn't including bugged features like the bosses-getting-instantly-killed-by-shadebinder bugs, etc. etc.
WHAT DO I THINK NEEDS TO HAPPEN
Firstly, to address the melee situation, like I said above, it should have some form of AOE, similar in range to something like the Hammer-Strike, which will instantly freeze enemies that are standing in that range when the melee hits. To address the Aspects, the current aspect needs to be buffed to have AT LEAST TWO fragment slots to allow for at least some level of build customisation that Warlocks and Hunters have, and given how powerful it is (or I suppose I should say it isn't) I'd hope that this gets buffed to three, and not just two. I also think that Warlocks need to be nerfed, a lot. They have WAY too many insta-freeze abilities which, compared to the slowing abilities that are in the game with Stasis, are just infinitely better. The fact that Warlocks only have one ability which doesn't at the moment (and isn't going to be buffed to allow for it with a new Aspect) instantly freeze enemies it damages is the Duskfield grenade is incredibly unbalanced, and I have absolutely 0 idea how these ideas made it through QA. Hunters, I think right now at least, are the perfect balance between being so incredibly overpowered that nothing else in the game can compete in a PvP or PvE setting (Warlocks) or so incredibly underpowered with abilities that can't compete with those of the other classes and are having their customisation (the entire selling point of Stasis in the first place) artificially limited by Bungie for 0 apparent reason (Titans); and that's why I think that Warlocks need to be nerfed down to Hunter levels, while Titans need to be buffed up to Hunter levels to bring back anything at all.
As it stands, there is seemingly no reason to play Titan over Warlocks in the current Stasis situation (excluding Titan Skating, which can now be done faster by Hunters using Worldline Zero anyway) and it's a severe problem, especially for us Titan mains. I get that Titans won the Guardian Games this year, but is there really any reason to try and kill us off completely like this?
Anyway, that's my take on the whole situation of Titans being incredibly limited in the customisation department thanks to us not getting a second Aspect this week with reset. If you read it this far, I hope you can at least see where I'm coming from with all of this, and if you just skipped here from the TL;DR, fairs to ya', but I do seriously suggest you read the whole post if you plan on posting a reply disagreeing with me so you can at least comment on my views in a (hopefully) civilised way.
EDIT 1: Fixed some formatting and typo's, whoops

2 RepliesEdited by Dredgen Araphel: 11/20/2020 3:00:06 PMThis is a bunch of hooha. Titans are the most busted, lazy, broken, braindead garbage this game ever had the displeasure of crapping out. Nothing about that class is balanced but nobody wants to address them until 2 or 3 years later and its a slap on the wrist compared to any other class. The favoritism is obvious.

Titans are great! Shoulder charge, the new subclass that makes them the fastest in the game. OEM, Anteaus Wards. Titans are actually string now.
-
1 ReplyI mean there is a reason to play stasis titan now after the nerf to shadebinder. At least that’s what I’m gonna be doing.

Shouldercharge Builds Bubble titans

Edited by DuBChiri2: 11/19/2020 6:13:21 PMThe titans melee doesnt need to freeze but the aoe should absolutely be larger on impact because they basically have to be kissing you just to be slowed and not take damage. I think it should do a little more damage in pve as well though because it feels kind of weak sometimes even when you shatter an enemy. 2 fragments I would say is fine but I actually understand WHY ours only has 1, it's because of the neutral capabilities it has. Increasing the slides distance is actually nice for pvp and pve movement which acts as a better escape option than normal, plus we don't need to consume and ability to break through allied or enemy stasis walls so there isn't any real way to hide from the titans in pvp. Plus it still offers shattering capabilities that can kill guardians that are frozen and also shatter frozen pve targets. Maybe it's not chain freezing broken like it is on the warlocks, but it's capabilities are the most practical of the bunch and its utility is quite high. But I do agree that besides utility it doesn't really offer much to take advantage of because titans have the hardest time freezing targets anyways which makes a portion of what it offers not always the most useful. That isn't to say it isnt useful, but not always. The titans super is certainly the least unique of the bunch again (surprise surprise) but like always it packs some serious power and I can see it becoming more viable as the sandbox changes, especially in something like trials where it's one life per person. You can't run from this thing if used right (but its tracking is wonky). Overall, the titan has a lot to work with in terms of tools but its power is not quite there. As a subclass based entirely around freezing targets it certainly is the worst of the bunch, but really...it could have easily just been another arc fist of havoc and been fine as is because the melee is great, the super is usually great and the enhanced mobility from the slide would be great. Honestly, it's what code of the missile should have been minus the super.

1 ReplyDon't know about you, but I enjoy chucking people into Walls and off the Maps. Best time to play a Titan.

Edited by Jackal: 11/19/2020 3:23:33 PMI main a warlock and feel we are spoon fed BS overtuned overpowered specs on the constant. Either that or the other classes are so undertuned they constantly feel like they fall flat in comparable power. Always feel forced into being the bubbleboy on titans.
-
1 ReplyWhat? After we won Guardian Games fair and square????
-
1 ReplyWhere I’d say I agree that Warlocks are the most powerful atm when it comes to stasis, you get just as many fragments and aspects as Warlocks and Hunters. I also think you may just be getting frustrated over the stasis meta so to speak. Warlocks are strong but so are Titans. It’s by no means bad at all.
-
Boring? Yes, but they are quite strong. I'm a warlock main and I can say its not that titans need a buff, its that warlocks need to be toned down a bit
-
Not to mention the boring AF new exotics. PRECIOUS SCARS - Kintsugi: After reviving or being revived, your aura provides overshields to you and nearby allies. ICEFALL MANTLE - Glacial Guard: Replaces your Barricade ability with a personal armor reinforcement that absorbs a small amount of damage. While reinforced, you are slowed and Barricade does not recharge.
-
It is pretty bonkers that Iceflare Bolts is so strong, and also has 3 fragment slots.
-
2 RepliesI love seeing the Titans cry when some other subclass is superior over them since they have been the ones with the OP subclasses for since the begging of time. For the record, the warlock super is good, but not all that great. At all. Movement is slow. Attack crystals move slow.
-
2 RepliesWe only have one aspect so far, and if my memory serves me right you have two aspect slots. We have only just begun learning the true powers of stasis.
-
Lol. Wow for real?
-
3 RepliesAs a free to play scrub I disagree. Solar Titans are still awesome. Sunspots are the most useful ability in pve and burning maul and hammer of sol still wreck in pvp.
-
The Stasis Titan is a hell of a lot more fun to play than the Warlock. Except for the buggy melee ability.
-
I’m glad you feel like this to Titans only which is unlike me as the whole game is just so bland.
-
Edited by Systamatik: 11/18/2020 10:01:25 PMYup. I switched to Warlock. With Resilience being useless and barricade not blocking splash damage, the class is pretty dead. Also everything we have is tied to melee in a FPS.
-
The Hunter melee doesn’t insta freeze. You need to land 2 of them on a target to freeze them. It also doesn’t really have an AoE it ricochets but it’s even more inconsistent than Sentinel’s shield throw.
-
25 RepliesStill typos. Titans got broken mobility with the power slides. Literally can't track them
