PC performance has TANKED in this release!

I don’t know if it’s the new lighting engine or what, but i am losing more than 20fps at times, which is completely unacceptable. This needs to be high priority. Tanking PC player’s performance is not something that you really want to do.

  • I have lost a similar amount of fps as well, very frustrating. Is anyone here also experiencing microstutter however? I was having no such stutter on November 9th(in fact, I would have considered Destiny 2 to be on of the smoothest running games I own) and now I get microstutter every few seconds. I have a gsync monitor with an i7-8700k, 32GB of 3000Mhz ram, and an rtx 2070 super, so I should not be having these issues. I am worried that I am the only one having these issues, so if you are having these issues as well, please let me know.

Same here, I used to get over 100 fps consistently on the tangled shore and now I am in the 30s and 40s. Something definitely got messed up. And yes before anyone asks, none of my settings changed. My specs are R5 3600, 16GB 3200mhz cl16, RX 5700xt

Not sure if it helps but running sli mode and and i deduced that the snow is is not properly coded for afr. its not properly handing off the next frame to the other card so the snow flickers every other frame. Single gpu mode in sli fixed it. however theirs the performance loss..... Question Bungie, do you guys intend to keep supporting sli and nvlink going foward?

Yep can confirm, previously with the current settings I had in place I could easily hit 144fps at 1440p on 1080Ti. To put it into perspective, I could easily run Scarlet Keep strike at max FPS, with my current settings carried over I get sub 100fps and it gets worse when your spamming stasis abilities. They seriously need to tone down the volumetric lighting in this game after the lighting update because I can 100% bet this is what is tanking frames right now. Would be nice if we got some volumetric settings or lighting quality settings to compensate because having "fixed" values and no settings to adjust is a big no go. Please, please, please, look into volumetric lighting as the cause. I noticed instantly the volumetric settings had changed from pre DLC to post DLC.

          • At times I'm now getting the same performance with 3700x and 5700xt that I did with a 3500u ultrabook before the update https://imgur.com/pDq34Ub

          • I have the same problem on my end. The game seems a lot clunkier than before, especially in player versus player matches. I noticed a massive frame drop on all the old locations (about 20% of the pre-beyond light frames). My system is equipped with an RTX 2060 and a Ryzen 4800H CPU, with the game at 1920x1080@60Hz and with the Nvidia 457.30 drivers.

          • Exactly my problem, Crucible is completly unplayable for me, I used to get over 100 on every map before Beyond Light and now it's around 50 - 60. It just feels really awkward. My GPU is a 2060 6GB an CPU is Ryzen 5 3600. If I can run games like Tarkov perfectly fine with this setup, I'm pretty sure something changed within the game that caused this.

              • Same here. PvP unplayable, used to run 120 fps with highest settings on average, now I average 70 fps with horrific lag and instant frame drops in PVP to under 30 frames, making PVP unplayable. Ironic, because I switched from console to PC a few months ago. And now new gen consoles are getting 120 fps in Crucible and PC performance is tanking? This is NOT what we have been waiting for :(

              • Having issues as well on a 2060 Super laptop with 16 GB of RAM and an i7 8750H, frames as low as 40 at times on patrol on Europa and occasionally in missions etc. as well. Haven't played Crucible yet this update but I imagine it'd be about the same.

I am running into the same issue. November 9th I am well above 100fps on average without issue. If I launch the game everything runs fine for about 5 mins, then the average fps drops below 30 on average paired with a lot of stuttering. Tested out some other games just to make sure it wasn't me. While this really sucks, glad to see I am not the only one dealing with this. Was looking forward to spending some time with D2 BL, but guess I am waiting for a fix... Same, Pre-patch was 60+almost everywhere except busy horde modes on mars and the moon. Now sub 60 looking around the fu**ing tower. Europa is even worse. Something is up. Hope this isnt the new normal. 8086k 32 gigs of ram gtx1080, its not my pc. It's this game. HDR rendering looks a LOT better at least. windows 10
