I'm a bow main and I'm far from the only one. I am excited about Beyond Light, but I am very worried now that you've implemented sunsetting. Compared to other weapons (like hand cannons and pulse rifles), we've seen very few bows released since Forsaken launched.
Now that Beyond Light is imminent, there are very few that will be valid in the coming content. Half of the already small offering of legendary bows will be obsolete in a week. Point of the Stag is no longer attainable, and of the three exotics (four counting the heavy), only one has a catalyst, and we still have no solar exotic bow.
One of the unintended consequences of sunsetting gear is that I feel this will leave some players wanting to use Exotic Primaries for some measure of consistency, and this will affect bow users in particular because of how few options there are. The game already poorly balances exotic power weapons so they feel mandatory, and until exotic primaries can load anti-champion mods, they definitively handicap players in most aspirational content (personally I am hoping that my Falling Guillotine and Komodo-4FR will put in a lot of work for me next year, but time will tell).
So what am I asking for? Just please keep us in mind, and consider us moving forward.
However, in the spirit of constructive feedback, here are some requests:
1. I am hoping for multiple new legendary bows in Beyond Light, the return of Point of the Stag, or else a way to access kinetic precision bows through the equivalent of umbral engrams, so we have an easily farmable primary weapon.
2. I am hoping for a solar exotic bow (possibly themed around the melting of ice.. get it?).
3. I am hoping to see more legendary heavy bows (Leviathan's Breath can stagger, and does large-radius AoE, so a legendary version would just do high precision damage, with possibly a small-radius AoE).
4. Finally, I am hoping to see catalysts for Wish-Ender, Le Monarque, and Leviathan's Breath. Exotic Primaries don't need to be extinct, but the ability to drop orbs is important to higher-end content. So we either need catalysts for exotic weapons when they launch as standard operating procedure, or we need the ability to masterwork exotic weapons for the ability to drop orbs divorced from the catalyst.
Thank you SO much for your time and consideration. I love this game. I love your work as a company. I've been playing Bungie games since Pathways into Darkness. I only want to see it get even better.

EDIT: I wanted to provide an update to this thread now that Beyond Light has launched. I've got good news and bad news. That said, my fingers are crossed for the future, AND I am keeping a close eye on future updates because bow gameplay is important to me.
1. According to light.gg, Beyond Light has introduced 1 new bow at launch. It is kinetic, but it has slightly confusing perks, and seems designed to be a support weapon and/or pvp bow, since it can run Killing Wind+Sympathetic Arsenal, or Quickdraw/Moving Target+Snapshot Sights, but the best it can do as far as PvE add-clearing seems to be Rapid Hit+Swashbuckler or Explosive Head. Yikes.
2. Point of the Stag is purchasable from the Exotic Archive next to the vaults! This is HUGE news for anyone who didn't get one during the season it released. It doesn't sunset this year, and is a precision frame with archer's tempo, so this could be useful to any precision-users who don't have a good Accrued Redemption roll (like me) and need a hold-me-over that's not exotic.
3. (new) Looks like there is no bow synergy on this season's artifact. Obviously that will change in future seasons, but I was really hoping (in vain) that we'd see more generic non-weapon-specific mods for breaking champions. I'm a little disappointed that they're still locking some of us into double-primaries if we want to run our weapon of choice.

The problem isn't just with bows. We havent gotten new hand cannons, new scouts or new snipers outside of a couple 140's. The only guns we've been getting is pulses and autos.

They could have at least made a Void bow to replace Subtle Calamity. Now the only Void primary bow left is Le Monarque. There's no Legendary Void bow.

2 RepliesTbh that's the only criticism I have with sunsetting. Yes there are plenty of weapons in the game post BL but there are archetypes that have very little representation and sunsetting digs into that. The devs have a hard time with making sure all archetypes get love in general so it is a concern of mine. But in regards to bows I am also in agreement. I feel like they're more of a novelty/gimmick inclusion like swords were initially. I would also like more bows to play with. But I want them to be more fleshed out too. So there's a reason to use them beyond enjoyment.

There is at least 1 new Bow coming with Beyond Light. It's a Europa one. It might be a precision frame I'm not sure. It was showed off briefly in one of the trailers and the weapon icon for it is also visible on the Beyond Light weapons page. Bungie is also making champion mods armor based instead of weapon based which is pretty helpful. Not to mention that Leviathan's Breath might be getting a catalyst since the bow is shown on the exotic catalyst tab in the updated UI coming. I personally think Levi's Breath is such a cool weapon and I'd love to have a reason to use it.

The only good bows are the two exotics. One for pve and the other for pvp. Other bows are good for playing medium to ass players, but can't do shit against anyone with thumbs

I think bows are mediocre in Destiny. Only the Exorcist are worth it. I think they should have added in only the three exotic Bow's and that's all. The others just feel powerless against anything other than a red bar. On that note, I would like to see a Crossbow exotic.

Looks like a hand held star scream ( decepticon) It's fast and hits hard, can't my finger on what I don't like about it. I just don't care for it

Agreed. I love bows as a weapon class and they have certainly replaced scouts for me in pve as scouts are literal hot garbage right now. Got a good roll on a slab but i am really gonna miss my archers tempo/rampage/draw speed masterworked subtle calamity with 2.5k kills on it …

I was worried to, but in one of the newer trailers they did show what looked like a kinetic precision frame bow. I also hope we see catalysts for the remaining exotic bows. I would love to see a box breathing like perk for wishender (in crucible this would do 190 crits allowing for ohks on guardians with a resilience of 4) Le monarque with firefly(voidfly), leviathans breath with a decrease to charge time and cluster bombs

6 RepliesStag is getting it's sunset power updated which is nice. I highly recommend accrued redemption for the kinetic slot. I'm not the biggest fan of tyranny of heaven but that's a solar legendary option. I agree a solar exotic option would be lovely. It could do something similar to Oxygen SR3 but instead of having to be precision hits on the same enemy, each subsequent precision kill grants a progressively larger dragonfly explosion up to like 5 stacks. Catalyst makes the stacks last longer.
