So I never played D1, just bought the collection today
Bungie......wtf happened?! I was five minutes in and already saw a vast improvement, in everything. I’ve still yet to play PvP, not sure that I will die to the low player base. Everything, from the story to the graphics, open spaces, music, wow.
So, what happened???? I’m taking a break from D2 till September, this will keep me busy with all the dlc. Oh, and it’s tiny; but my guardian spoke. Idk, I can now see some of the nerd rage fans are feeling going from D1 to D2.

1 ReplyYeah, I went back to it ( briefly ) a few months ago and it’s hard to deny that Destiny 1 had something that it’s successor doesn’t. It’s also a much faster game than D2, everything from running, jumping, grenade/melee/super recharge times to weapon TTK. I had a hard time coming back to D2, it felt like my characters were running through 2 feet of water.

No lie I restarted D1 the other day FRESH. Hasn’t played it in a year cause I moved systems. Couldn’t believe how the guns melted...freaking GREENS. Jinkogu or something and the Matternacht or something. They felt SO good!

For this reason, I find it infinitely difficult to consider D2 as a part of the series. It's art, atmosphere and music makes it seem like an unauthentic, child's toy of a rip off of Destiny. I'll call D1 Destiny because it's actually called Destiny, unlike Destiny 2. D2 is missing so many things from D1. D2 is incredibly boring without abilities or specials. Both pve and pvp. That's why Bungie is desperately pulling raid concepts into generic gameplay. Fun, powerful Guardians, balance, strategy, variety, both in pve and pvp, all these are things are gone in D2.

1 ReplyDo yourself a favor and sit through that long match making. Even with the special nerf the pvp is far better than really anything out right now. Just my opinion though.

D1 is vastly superior. Everything from shooting to atmosphere to weapon rolls is just plain better. Every "improvement" coming to D2 is just an effort to make D2 more like D1. Give the pvp a whirl. There will be lag from the low playerbase, but the maps and choice of game modes makes it worth it. Stick to Clash. That's where everyone is.

21 RepliesEdited by Ravontulet: 6/27/2018 3:58:11 PMI have logged back in to D1 a few times; its depressing, my vault filled to bursting with such memories - stuff I put effort in to get, raid guns, god rolls, drops, ships armor. why did all this stuff have to disappear? Why did they think it was a good idea to just ruin so many things about D1 with D2 ? This game was supposed to be a 10 year, ever-expanding campaign. NOT cut up into sequels. I try not to log in to D1 too often. It makes me sad for what D2 could have been - all they had to do was KEEP ADDING to the game. Not taking things away. They had the winning formula and they threw it away. D2 this September is a scramble to get some of that back.

I picked up D1 for $3.00 and beat the main game. Going to get all the DLC from game stop for $30.00. I still like D2, but think that they should have built upon D1 rather than start over.

3 RepliesDestiny 1 is great, but you are comparing Destiny 1, Year 3 with Destiny 2, Year 1. There's no guarantee Destiny 2 will continue to improve, but I think it started off better than Destiny 1 did at launch.

Music: Hell yeah it’s better! Marty O’ Donnell is God send when it comes to music, it’s so mysterious, mystical, and or enthralling, x10 better than D2s. Open space: D1 is definitely better, all of D1s locations are about as big or just as big as biggest location in D2, EDZ or Nessus, not including Lost Sectors. But D1s location sizes are more constant than D2s locations. Titan, Io, and Mercury are wasted potential on what could have been great. Graphics: I must disagree on that. It might not have been a significant improvement but it was an improvement. Improvement on particle effects, textures, and increased objects in said location. All in all D1 had quite a few great things that made it great, music, openness, mysteriousness, mysticalness, atmosphere, and adventure. But lacked strength in the story department. D2 was definitely a down grade in a lot of aspects compared to D1. While D2 has been making improvements in how the game is played, it still needs a lot of work and hopefully Foresaken will fix most the problems.

D1 was a fantastic game, that started off in a poor state, so alott of players left, it got better and better and the last 2 years where truly amazing, it really is a shame that not many people actually got too play it because so many quit the game at the start to never come back.. those same people would of came back to destiny 2... and then quit.

You're going to love that shit man. Hope you find a good team also. PvP is a blast especially during mayhem week.....PvP in general is a -blam!-ing blast despite the balance being meh ok(way better than D2). Oh and our guardians only speak a few times, when you hit the darkness below dlc is where you'll notice they stop talking completely....then never again. What else..... Xur is actually useful You'll notice the vendors at the tower are actually vendors! The story is spotty but the gameplay makes up for it. ...man you're going to lose your shit. It's fun and we OGs took it for granted. Edit: I gotta admit I didn't pay cayde much attention until the TTK dlc...or anyone of them ftm. Only person I found interesting in a dlc before then was eris.

Your Guardian actually feels powerful, swift, and I forgot how fun Voidlock could be with Embrace. Plus the mofo can talk. I really miss the heavy atmosphere of the D1 universe, and I'm not even gonna get started on weapons... I know the contract required Bungie to make an actual sequel, but they really should have just expanded on what the game had evolved into at the end, got serious writers, threw in some on-rails ship combat, and slapped a 2 on the box.
