I wonder about it because the helmet has no slots for the eyes, nor does it have an obvious viewport. The Exo lived and fought by faith, rather than how grim and desperate the world appeared before him.
Plus his Ward of Dawn blinded any enemies who entered it. Which could be due to the blinding intensity of his Light; but it could also be a personal touch of irony added to the Ward of Dawn's already present ability to force the enemy to fight you on your terms.

I think you should not work with lore EVER.

Bro my Exo has no eyes.
He dead.
Cabal blown off Cayde-6 arm and rebuild it so any physical damage post Exo conversion is not reasonable. Anyhow, Exo were war machines made for combat so a blind one is not logical in the first place, especially pre-conversion.

There's basically no sets in the game with eyes ya dingus. They all have heads up displays inside, look at some old D1 armor descriptions for titan helmets.

Edited by gallp13: 1/4/2018 7:37:25 AMGreat theory. Had never really thought about this possibility before. Interestingly, the following grimoire passage seems to suggest Saint 14 could see. “The Exo Guardian rose, staggering back. He couldn’t take his eyes off the Kell’s body. He’d never seen any Fallen withstand a skull puncture, but this was no ordinary Fallen. He waited...and waited.” What do you make of this passage ? Still you have an interesting angle.

3 RepliesSaint-14 and Brother Vance should have listened when they were told 'If you play with it, you'll go blind'.
-
What kind of exotic was build blind?
I wonder about it because the helmet has no slots for the eyes, nor does it have an obvious viewport.
I'm pretty sure not all exos even have 'eyes' in the traditional sense. They're magical future space robots, so would they even need them? I'm pretty sure there's a whole range of different scientific instruments that can "see" better than human eyes (or even exo eyes) can.

25 RepliesEdited by Jet: 1/2/2018 10:48:01 AMI don't get why people think saint-14 is a badass. He blindly followed the speaker and even called him "father". That alone makes him a fanatical piece of shit. One of my D1 characters alone has put down more vex, cabal, hive, fallen, and taken in a shorter timespan than the amount of vex he's killed. Why don't I have an exotic named after me? As to him being blind, I doubt it. He's an exo. Just because his helmet doesn't have an eye slit doesn't mean anything. Look at some of the raid gear. They don't have them either.
-
I'm sure if he was blind they would have mentioned it somewhere ,plus a Blind Exo wouldn't make a lot of sense ,since an Exo can be modified and repaired
-
Many helmets don’t have eye slots
-
If you look there are several helmets like this. My going theory is that in those cases you can only see out the helmet so from the outside it looks like there’s no clear viewport.
-
Most Titan helmets are like that. N fact, most helmets for all classes are like that, I think.
-
Most of the head gear in this game can be considered VR gear i.e. light receptors on the exterior make it seem as if its transparent. Any eye-holes or slits are simply for aesthetics or where the main sensor cluster is. And despite this we get no night vision or thermographic senses.
-
There are numerous helmets in Destiny without visors and the vast majority of our ships have no windows. They all use some kind of camera or sensor tech to let the occupant see around them l assure you, Saint was not blind. His Ghost wouldn’t be able to revive him without his eyes anyway
-
He would be working in the Bungie Quality Assurance department.
-
IF THAT WAS TRUE, he must really hate the "metal robo optics workshop"?
-
It’s the same way sunglasses work. People can’t really see your eyes, but you can still see them
-
Most helmets don’t have eyes. I have no clue why lol
-
There are lots of helmets for all classes in Destiny 1/2 without eyeholes.
-
Few titan helmets have eyeholes.
-
He was a robot... He could just get new eyes
-
That would have made him more badass IMO. Imagine going ham on hundred thousands of vexes while blind but with the light he still fight gloriously.
-
Since Saint-14 was an Exo, couldn't he have just gotten new eyes installed?
-
It sounds reasonable. I wish we had a full back story for all these characters
