I have a few questions for you...
Where were you when I was farming planet materials for hours just to upgrade a gun or two or actually make my exotic feel like it was supposed to?
Where were you when we got nothing but shards and energy in the raid, cheesed it like crazy, and had no changes on hard mode to be seen except severely putting 29s at a large damage disadvantage and no respawns? Friendly reminder if you didn't get a piece of gear you had to wait until the next week to progress...
Where were you when Thorn reigned king as the only way an average or even good player could possibly compete in crucible for more than half a -blam!-ing year with no changes!?
Where were you when there was a "heavy ammo drought" where no one had synths since they took them off Xur very purposefully and we had to empty out our weapons entirely to glitch heavy just to shoot down the most basic designed raid boss in history (Crota) in a raid where again everyone cheesed every single section and there was a total of 1 new hard mode mechanic?
Where were you when they decided no more small expansions and that they were going to call Festival of The Lost and things that were designed to make more silver "new content funded by silver"? This lasted an entire year until RoI.
Gtfo out if you think D2 is much worse. Yeah maybe it's worse than Age of Triumph, their swan song where they brought everything in three years together. But it sure as hell isn't worse than the low points of Destiny 1 where we all continued chugging on until the next expansion anyway. They had time to learn yes but a team was building this game while D1 was still in progress. Mind you most of the changes again came from player feedback on these forums (not all but most). So stop giving shit feedback. They know the important things we want already believe me.

I see you are talking about things that were eventually fixed. Minus FoTL that is. Over time things got better, so how about compare it to Year 3?

2 RepliesEdited by blade329: 11/15/2017 10:18:55 PMStarted D1 in Y2, Sept 2015. Kept playing until March 2017. Hundreds and hundreds of hours invested. Started D2 in Sept 2017. Stopped playing in 5 weeks. Dozens of hours invested (wasted). Result: D1 is was far more fun and interesting. D2 is for players who think Super Mario World is sophisticated.
-
1 ReplyQuite the contrary. D1 was great until everything started getting senselessly nerfed because of pvp, ruining perfectly suitable weapons and armor for use in pve. The overall design and game play was much better, however. That is the major gripe with D2..the overall design is too radical from the first gen, and universally hated. It is what it is, not fixable, play it or not, and we'll have to wait for D3 to see if Bungie gets back on track.

Where was i Doing everything you were but doing it smarter, faster and not complaining about it. Vanilla Destiny was far better than this shitty piece of dlc called Destiny 2 The ONLY thing Destiny 2 did right was the First and last campaign missions and thats it.
-
They were both shit. The difference is Bungie at least tried to improve D1. They didn't even try with D2.
-
Blah blah blah. It was more FUN, better gunplay. Not even open to debate...
-
I played the hell out of destiny vanilla. Played the alpha on PS4, beta and vanilla exclusively when they released VoG and nightfall’s on all 3 classes every week. Crucible was fun as hell and fast paced. Yea it was chaotic and “unbalanced” but it served its purposely a placeholder when you were bored with other activities. Yea it had its faults but the only people who didn’t like destiny vanilla are the ones that destiny 2 was designed for and right now it’s an epic fail

Edited by Lordsa Jar-Jar: 11/15/2017 11:40:27 PMWell it's better than D2 by miles, everything else is irrelevant. Maybe you should gtfo of here, because people like you who defend mediocre games and calling them great are the real problem with the gaming community. Not the trolls, not the complainers, but you!

1 Replywrong.. destiny 1 was crap.. shit because the engine did not support the vision of mastermind Joe staten and his idea of several timelines at the same time as persistent game world.. Bungie scrapped the entire story , Joe left, and they rehashed the story in only 7 months into something incoherent rambling narrative with some grimoire card outside the game as "lore".. 3 years later and due to the massive input from the gamers TTk was released, still content from vanilla destiny, but significantly improved.. later wth RoI the game was close to the game that should have been released for 70$ in 2015, but still had shortcomings.. D2 has none of those excuses.. problem is, the engine was that bugged , ineffective and clumsy to update that bungie needed to recode large portions of the games engine to fit the needs of that game.. so almost all power and time went into reinventing the games engine again.. leaving old consoles behind and making the engine friendlier to update.. but D2 was a stripped release... in order to fit the new engine, all content had to be remastered and redone.. (see shores of time) and to avoid a disaster like d1 the game was shipped as a MVP game.. leavng amost all of the improvements in d1 behind and even falling short with some new ideas, simply because those bungie masterminds have been missing.. now shortly after the launch the PC launch was prepared, leaving close to no time to improve upon the base game.. then the first DLC had to launch since the contract with AV dictates the released schedule. Again, no time to adress those issues.. leaving us with the current state.. a short empty game with some weird mechanics and some general principles that should make the game more update friendly.. also AV catered towards the accessibility and not towards the complexity of the game, leaving us the super simple game we have with close to no choices left to the player to make.. now my bet is that the next dlc is already knocking at the door, and given the horrible insight about the clan and in game chat being the high priority and seeing that they have not been able to add this basic feature in the game without compromising the entire engine shows that the games engine is still very clumsy and not modular enough to cater to the fast paced need for new improvements .. its possible to have such a game (see warframe, where they added 22 mayor updates in the last 4 years and all went well and where they did not went well the game was changed within days .. ) so in short.. bungie needs too many resources to ensure the basic functionality of the game and to perform basic programming tasks while adding chat should have been a two week long task for the chat team to implement. at max. so yes d1 has better features and the way to those was noisy and painfull for both players and bungie (they had to fire their ceo.. , remember?) and still the guys at bungie are basically stumbling from release to release with ever declining quality of the deliverables.. //R

Destiny as a whole is mediocre series with a phenominal potential. Potential that will NEVER be reached because of Bungievision. But don't worry, one day we will get a proper mmo'ish loot shooter with more than 12h worth of f*cking content... maybe Borderlands 3, i hope its BL3.

Compared to D2, yes it is
-
My thoughts exactly.

And after all that farming I unlocked the full potential of my high caliber hawksaw and never thought for a min this wasn’t worth it.

4 RepliesI was there for the good times! When George and Weezy moved on up to the East Side, I was there! Oh! Oh! Hallelujah! Those were happy times! But, but, I was also there for the bad ones! When Florida lost James to that tragic auto accident, I was there. And when Tootie got those painfully terrible braces! I was there! And when Arnold Jackson got beat up by the Gooch, I was there! So, before you decide that I don't belong here, remember this: I was there!

1 ReplyI'm definitely not saying it was a gift from god but it had me and many others consumed for almost 3 years. I was done with Destiny 2 in under a month. That alone should tell you all you need to know.

Casual gtfo

AOT was D1's saving grace
-
3 RepliesHow about no new areas.. we literally ran areas backwards as strikes for 2 DLC's
-
Yea this game is shite
-
You would think if you were to make a sequal of a game you would pick up with where you left off an improve. Not do a total reboot and take 3 years to improve again to get back to where d1 was
-
Hope this is what you wanted. Hope this is what you had in mind. Cause this is what you're getting. Destiny 2 Song by Tool

Heavy synths don’t even exist in D2 not sure why xur not selling it for a period in D1 is even a point

Edited by PhreshBrotha: 11/15/2017 10:05:09 PMLol. No one is saying D1 was a gift from God or the perfect game. But is it not fair to say that D1 is better than D2 so far? Plus, here’s the difference. D1 was the first installment in this supposed 10-year franchise. It should be expected that mistakes would be made along the way. Sure it took 3 years, but D1 eventually reached its potential, or at the very least, it vastly improved. And now here we are with D2. A SEQUEL that seems to have taken steps in every direction BUT forward in almost every aspect of the game. By Y3 in D1 I think it is safe to say that most players were happy with the product. But D2 has not lived up to Y3. Personally, I believe D2 is a great game, but a bad sequel. And having to wait 3 years for it to become great seems ridiculous

I was willing to do endure a lot of QoL pve pain, when I was having a fun and dynamic crucible experience on a daily basis. Didn't even need new content at that point, although always welcomed new maps. And yeah, D2 is much worse in that respect. Even in the days of the og vex myth, it was more fun. Even when we always had to teamshoot a vex user like it was a roaming super. (No issues with the D1 thorn, stop being a crucible nub on that one. Could easily kill a thorn user if you weren't garbage at the game.)
-
D1 was better is better .... until they make major changes to D2 that’s my opinion and the opinion of everyone I know that plays this game
-
I was there when we had to farm for materials. Literally farm it. Spinmetal goddammit!!!!
