I had a big problem with 'ol Datto marginalizing everyone that doesn't like the new Nightfall timer system and basically telling them to deal with it and "git gud".
So I respond:
BigTexB007: Datto you are bitch. 90% of the player base doesn't make a -blam!-ing living playing a video game like you do. You and other content creators who have spent 10+ hours a day playing this Game are not the measuring stick that everyone else needs to follow.
And Datto Responds:
This is my opinion on the topic. If you want end-game, top level rewards, you should be expected to do top level, end-game content that is moderately difficult. I'm sorry that you think the pathetic 240 Nightfall has a ball-bustingly difficult timer, but it does not, even this week. I'm sorry that you can't just roll over the Nightfall anymore and have free loot thrown at you. I'm not going to agree with someone who says "remove the timer and replace it with nothing" because then we just get the exact same thing as Destiny 1, which was not hard at all. You wanna replace it with mechanics? You wanna replace it with bullet sponges? You wanna replace it with more majors? I don't care! Bungie isn't gonna throw mechanics into a strike, so that's out. People hate bullet sponges, that's out. People hate more majors, that's out. "Replace it with nothing." Fine, now you can get free raid loot, free trials loot AND free Nightfall loot for just logging into the game and being in a clan. I've yet to see a GOOD idea that keeps the difficulty of the Nightfall when replacing the timers, so if you have one, drop it here. I'm sorry that you actually need to think for a couple of minutes and plan a route through the Nightfall. Hell, I did a run yesterday of the normal Nightfall with someone who just hit 260 and has never ran the strike before, doing very little skipping at all: 6 minutes left on the clock. At some point, I think some people need to go, "maybe it's me?". End-game activity should be end-game effort. It's 15-20 minutes to get it done where you gotta focus once per week. Is that REALLY asking too much? REALLY? 15 minutes? But don't worry, because Bungie will succumb to the complaints of the masses and this shit will be nerfed by next expansion anyway, so you only need to deal with it for 3 months.

And I respond back to him and fanboys, but I won't put that whole correspondence here, it can be seen in the YouTube comments.
But someone on Reddit decides the post the interaction, WITHOUT posting my responses to Datto BTW.
https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/71i684/datto_replies_to_getting_called_a_bitch_after/
Apparently it's been there a little while, I just noticed it today. So I posted this reply:
Wow. I find it super hilarious my YouTube comment to Datto made it to Reddit. Although obviously the support shown here is because of Datto's reply to me. Funny.. OP didn't include my replies back.
Perhaps I was a bit harsh in calling Datto "a bitch". Maybe. Maybe not.
The part I took exception to was not the fact that Datto likes the nightfall or the new timer. I have absolutely NO PROBLEM with folks liking the new mechanic. None at all.
But, the fact is alot of people don't like this new timer mechanic. I sure as hell don't. And it has nothing to do with "challenge" or "difficulty". I don't like jumping through hoops, or searching areas for little Vex-ey looking boxes to shoot. It completely ruins the flow of the experience and is annoying as shit.
And that's where Datto crossed in a line in his video. He marginalized that whole group of people who don't like this mechanic as being whiners who don't like a challenge or change, and basically tells them to STFU and "Git Gud" in so many words.
THAT'S what I took exception to, and that's why I called him out. He finds it easy? No shit, he plays the game for a living. He finds the new "challenge" fun but can consistently overcome it? No shit, he plays the game for a living. He finds previous Nightfall styles boring and unchallenging? No shit he plays the game for a living. If he thinks he's the measuring stick for what's an "acceptable challenge" then he and his rabit fanboys can get bent.
In many of the replies on Datto's youtube page I'm inundated with folks sharing their lives with me about what they do and how much responsibility they have, and how even with all that they don't find this nightfall a challenge... how I need to STFU and "Git Gud". And that's fine. Sure, I can understand that.
But again, it's not really about challenge as to why I didn't like the last two nightfalls. It's because the timer modifier makes them an annoying chore when I'm supposed to be having fun shooting shit.
And besides that, I'm not talking to THOSE PEOPLE who don't make a living playing a video game. I'm TALKING TO THE PERSON WHO MAKES A LIVING PLAYING A VIDEO GAME HE'S GOT NO BUSINESS TELLING NORMAL PEOPLE THEY NEED STFU AND "GIT GUD".
In addition, Datto challenged me to tell him how I would change and I responded:
I read over the part where you call me out to suggest a GOOD idea. Here you go
1. Keep Nightfall Modifier. Wipe restarts the strikes and zeros out the score (but does not take you to orbit)
2. 30 minute timer with no add time mechanics such as "hoop jumping"
3. Strike Scoring
4. Tiered Rewards based on a final Nightfall Strike Score. Score takes into account fireteam deaths, enemies killed, precision kills, and final time left on strike
5. Actually FUN modifiers along with the shit ones that create artificial challenge.
Feels to me that'd address alot of concerns on alot of sides. True, the above may take some effort on Bungie's part... but hey just throwing a time constraint modifier is simply weak and lazy as shit.
And again, reading your second paragraph... you truly are a pompous video game elitist. YOU ARE NOT THE MEASURING STICK FOR THE CONSUMER BASE AT LARGE. YOU PLAY THIS GAME FOR A LIVING. I think you need to go "Maybe it's me?".
Anyways, just thought I'd like to share with my b.net friends some funny interaction... made more odd by the fact that it went off on YouTube and Reddit, but not here where I hang.
Still stand by my thoughts. And still think Datto can get bent sometimes.
EDIT: WOW. I put the kids to bed, wake up, go to work, take a late lunch and look at my Destiny app and suddenly I've got 312 notifications. Alot of shit talk too, fantastic. I'll get to you guys, don't you worry. May take a little while because many of you are quite zealous in tearing me a new one, but I'll do my best to reply to each and every one of you.
EDIT 2: Alright bitches, time to get some. It's on.
EDIT 3: Haven't seen ANYONE address my original point (beyond supporting it) that people like Datto, and other full time video game players who do this for a living, have no objectivity when identifying what makes an acceptable challenge for everyone when all they do is play the game all day. And really shouldn't talk shit to the Everyman for finding something difficult or unenjoyable when the video game lifer doesn't.
If Datto made a video stating why he likes the new timer system and showing support for it... I wouldn't have had any issue. At most, would've respectfully disagreed and stated why I don't like the timers. But that's not what happens... he goes on a tangent criticizing those who don't like it because they "don't like challenge" or "don't like change" or "want loot handed to them". That's bullshit.

3 RepliesSo your solution is to segregate the rewards like people wanted for crucible so the 1% elitist get better rewards? You also must have hated raids take VOG from 1 were you defend pillars, search for vexy looking boxes and stealth through gorgons how dare they slow down the flow of the raid, or the new raid where you have to jump through hoops, search for treasure, search for standard carriers, and shoot certain things to prevent wipes sound familiar? The NF can be a stepping stone to a raid as it should be coordinating with other team members to accomplish a task were people have to do separate jobs to complete the encounter. The timer adds urgency to pressure team work if you can do something as simple as that you are raid ready.

1 ReplyAlways thought Datto was a bit of nob but Im starting to like him. Seems to me you got slapped down like a ginger step child. Hillairious. 😂😂

2 Repliesi think bungie deleted this post by me. i have seen posts gone when i look at my previous activity. i scrolled through entire thread and could not find what i posted. it must of hit a nerve with someone. "The biggest lie he tells is that we can not have sponge bosses or enemies that do more damage because we do not like it. this is complete bull. he says things and says "thats out" i am sorry you do not speak for the community your only a individual with a biased opinion. he is saying that if we try to make the nightfall hard in other ways people will hate it more. where this is the exact opposite . they could make the nightfall harder in a 100 different ways and it would not piss the community off more then a timer. he says he gets to rule things out. who are you to say what we can and can not have to make nightfalls harder. I have never seen the community complain more about this one single thing like timed nightfalls ever. yes we would rather bullet sponges. yes we would rather bosses that do more damage. yes we would like some mechanics. I can not even remember seeing complaints about return to orbit i am sure it happened but this timer is the single most complained about thing in destiny history. I did a poll and 80 percent of the people wanted the timer gone. Datto is not dumb and he even admits in youtube videos that the devs will cater to the majority. he is just trying to defend this timer because its his preference.
-
While i dont really agree with what you said about it being difficult now that there really isnt a wipe mechanic its easier BUT i do understand that people have a hard time completing it and i do agree about what you said you tubers arent the majority i remember back in destiny 1 alot of youtubers said the raids werent hard and that it was easy to find people in lfg No S**t youre a youtuber alot of people recognize who you are so ofcourse youre always going to find people. But in all honesty destiny 2 feels like it jas alot of things missing or am i the only one who thinks that?

My biggest issue with the Nightfall timer is that it doesn't allow you to finish the strike once the time is up. There are currently no heroic versions of strikes, and it would be nice to be able to go into a Nightfall and go through it without worrying about the timer. It wouldn't reward you for finishing out of time so I really don't see the need for it to end as soon as the time runs out.
-
If Power Levels actually gave us an advantage over our enemies I would say go back to the 5 Random Modifiers system and change the Timer into a Performance graded system ala Contra style. You could take as long as you wanted but EVERYTHING has to die and Player Deaths would have to be kept to about 2 revives per person.

2 RepliesYeah, he's kind of an asshat that way. Rushing past enemies to ensure you complete an activity on time is ridiculous. As far as I'm concerned the nightfalls have been easy since I got my first set of elemental raid weapons. Year 2 after they were removed from the game the enemies in the nightfall seemed to get a lot easier than they were in vanilla. By then thou the loot just wasn't worth chasing anymore as most of the good exotics had been nerfed to mere trophies. I understand we can't have burns anymore since we have high capacity elemental weapons but what about all the other old nightfall modifiers.

34 RepliesEdited by Brent740: 9/26/2017 11:03:35 PMSo you start off by calling him a bitch because you don't like his opinion, and he responds with a well thought out, lengthy reply? You sound like the whinny bitch to me. End game content should be difficult. If you want to turn the game into software for the learning disabled, they have software specifically for your crowd too. I encourage you to move on. As for your claim that only people that stream for a living can accomplish the Nightfall, that's ridiculous. I guarantee I work longer hours than you, in a more difficult job than you, and somehow I'm able to accomplish it every week. Clearly your reasoning abilities leave something to be desired.

Some insignificant asshole calls out some other insignificant asshole. People argue about it on a forum where all people do is bicker and complain about petty shit. Amazing.

7 RepliesGee, I wonder why he came at you so agressively when you started your response with "datto, you are a bitch"

8 RepliesI didn't watch the video and I don't have a Reddit account. There is one thing I've noticed lately coming from a few popular streamers. There seems to be a real annoyance with the thought that anyone in a clan can get end game rewards even if they didn't do anything to get them. Like the raid for example. They don't like that anyone can get gear if they didn't "earn it". Since none of these weapons or armor seem to have god rolls. Who cares is what I think. Cool, you got something from a raid you will never be able to play for whatever reason. I'm only concerned with what I get, not everyone else. Whatever happened to we make a great community, but since I think im better then you because i spend hours a day playing, I should only get rewards in my clan. On one hand, Bungie made some of these end game content modes available now with guided games and clan rewards. I think this is a good thing. There will always be different skill levels and clans can help each other through some of the tougher content. While I've been able to get through the nightfalls with my team, I too don't like the timers. Only because as long as I've played video games and I'm probably old enough to be everyone's mother, I've hated timers. It's stressful, not fun. And infuriating if you're almost done and the timer runs out. Because of these timers now, it's really difficult or if not impossible to solo it. Hopefully guided games helps that. But if your not into playing with randoms, there is no way to do it unless you are super skilled and most of us are never going to be at that level, but still want a challenge. I also believe the nightfalls are full of bullet sponge bosses and that annoys me more then the timers. But that's my opinion. Bottom line, there has to be harder content in this game. Some people aren't going to be able to do it, or like it. But it shouldn't just be accessible to teams. My example, a strike with locked loadouts and no other team members for those who hate timers or aren't into playing with randoms. As a side note. If you hate the nightfalls, wait until you get the raid shotgun exotic quest. THAT was effing a giant pain in the butt.

20 RepliesLast few weeks on bnet. Everyone complains about the timer. Some random celeb wannabe I didn't know who exsisted until now gives his opinion. Everyone loves the timer because he does.
-
I don't know which is more pathetic. A guy that plays video games all day or a guy that watches another guy play video games all day.
-
1 ReplyWhat are you going to do? Datto has a fanboy army. Datto could put up a video that says the game sucks and they'll all agree with him. He could then delete that video the next day and put up a new one that says the game is amazing and those same people would agree with him again. He's a mindless dolt leading a mass of other mindless dolts.

17 RepliesDatto is a loser. Period
-
My issue with the timers is the fact that you need to look for the time extenders to get through. Is it really providing meaningful difficulty that merits end game loot? I would be OK with a 30 min timer, and in a guided game this would be the time folks commit to. All cards on the table. With respect to difficulty, why cant we get hordes and tons of enemies rather than bullet sponges. And kill every enemy on no respawn areas.
-
I give all the respect to Datto, he is much better than I am. But I am going to agree with him in terms of the timer, it should stay. So far there hasn't been a nightfall that I could not complete with my team. Yeah my team and I might have failed once or twice trying to complete it, but it lead to us learning of ways to cut time here and there. I say keep the timer, if you can get anything from playing nightfall it will only help improve your endgame skills.
-
3 Replies100% agree with Datto. End game loot should be locked behind difficult content. Also any argument starting with "you are a bitch" says a lot more about the person making the statement than who the statement is directed towards.
-
17 RepliesWhat's D2 gonna be community? "Too easy" or "too hard"? I don't like this "everyone gets a trophy" take on D2. So, I agree with datto on this completely.

1 ReplyEdited by iDovahBear: 9/27/2017 4:40:57 PMDatto's not wrong in that it's a bad idea just to take it out without replacing it. But I think it's funny how players like him often say "Nightfalls and Raids are made for skilled players, and everything else is made for the worse players." There's a fundamental mistake to his argument. Those other, lesser modes, aren't made for worse players. They're made for everyone. They don't have the exclusive on Strikes in the way that skilled players have one on Raids, Trials and so forth. Trying to suggest that other parts of the game are tailored to the rest of the 'masses' is a hollow argument. What he's trying to do is suggest that it's okay for the game to make the only meaningful aka endgame content relevant to a fraction of the playerbase that happen to play the game. The rest can repetitively play boring, grind-y modes that are horribly unentertaining once you've used them to grind towards endgame. It becomes impossible to hold a casual player's interest past that point. Unless you make the endgame more accessible. That means anyone who doesn't "git gud" won't have anything new or fun to do ever, once they hit endgame. That's a horrible mistake and Bungie will quickly estrange their playerbase with that logic. I'm sorry but Datto's wrong in this after the first bit about his concerns against removal w/o replacement.
-
Why would you post this here? You call someone a bitch and then seek affirmation on a separate forum because the person you called a bitch throws it back on you. The irony here is the person you called a bitch made you his bitch lol.
-
I actually like the timer. Was apprehensive at first but have completed each one. Without it were back to hiding under the stairs shooting Rockets Mcdickface again. That wasn't really fun. More like a chore that needs to be done.
-
1 ReplyHonestly, this community are 90% little cry baby bitches.... They need to STFU if content is too hard for them. Raid and nightfalls are a -blam!-ing joke now, casual gamers rejoice! Lets make this game even easier with less to grind! Op is wrong, Datto is right.
-
1 ReplyYou are a child dressed as a man. You have no argument aside from "I don't like it, therefore I must be right!" You represent the most toxic part of this player base. You probably t-bag in trials when you kill a guy who killed you 37 times in a row. If you don't like the nightfall, don't play the nightfall. Datto destroyed your childish retort to a question no one had asked you. Grow up sometime, and maybe you'll actually make some 'b.net friends"

3 RepliesFrankly, I agree with Datto and other “elitists.” Anybody remember Mythic difficulty on Halo? It was designed deliberately to be an experience that only a tiny fraction of players could complete ... designed that way. I for one have no problem with some content being designed solely for the best of the best players. I know I’m not in that category, and I accept that fact and try to enjoy the play time I actually get. I’ll never go flawless in trials, and I’m perfectly OK with that. Destiny 2 is designed primarily for the masses. A guy like me ... 40 years old, VP in the company I work for with real life responsibilities, married, 8-month-old son ... doesn’t have the time to put hundreds upon hundreds of hours into the game, and I rarely have time to go on mic and raid or run a nightfall (still haven’t done a nightfall on Destiny 2). I basically play after my son and wife are both in bed in the evenings. Imagine me going on a raid, and in the middle of the beast garden encounter my sleeping baby awakens crying and I tell the team, “Hey, folks. Hold on a few minutes while I go take care of my baby.” Do you think it is at all fair of me to ask a team to just wait around for 30 minutes? I’ll only go on a raid team when I’ve planned ahead with my wife such that she is on duty and I can promise a team I won’t be pulled away by a crying baby. In D1 I was an avid raider before Rise of Iron. No baby, no worries dedicating a couple of hours in the evening to raiding. Once we hit that 2nd trimester and things started really changing, raiding largely dropped off for me and I only ran Wrath of the machine one time. I knew it was unfair of me to potentially have to abandon a team mid-raid. I have major issues with D2, but none of them are about it being too hard. D2 is just not too hard ... sorry, it just isn’t. Half arsed story? I complain. Crappy infusion system? I complain. Perception that this is nothing more than D1 content cut from original game and re-purposed to be a “sequel”? I complain. But too challenging is something that this game is not.
