It appears that hunters will no longer have the blink ability in Destiny 2.
I'm sure Bungie have their reasons, but it will be missed! :(
EDIT: Quite a few responses.
To those of you calling it a "crutch", I'll have you know that I was never good enough to use it in such a way!
For me it was more of a fun showy off thing to do.
My clan will be relieved though - they always used to sigh when I would insist on blinking my way through the King's Fall jumping puzzle! 😂

I always felt as though the negativity associated with Blink as a skill was always tied with the controversial nature of shotguns and the map design of the game. Blink on its own is a cool enough skill. Did it lead to some frustrating encounters? Yes. But as far as movement goes, it was a fun skill. Closing gaps in an instant and allowing players to approach situations in unorthodox ways. The problem with it seems to be tied more closely with shotguns abd the synergy produced when you combine a weapon that kills in one blow with a movement skill that allows you to close those gaps and enter the weapons effective range instantly. It was the first true "wombo combo": Have shotgun. Blink into room with an enemy. Aim at enemy. Pull trigger. ???? PROFIT. Blink+shotgun became the hammer, and every player was a nail. Most players just didn't have the reaction time to counter it, you heard the whoosh, followed by a bang and you were dead. Add to this the fact that maps harmonized well with this ambush style of play and you have a real circus on your hands.

6 RepliesGood Riddance, hope they removed bones aswell .

1 ReplyForget blink, the Bones need to find their way to Destiny 2.
-
But now I can actually dodge, so...
-
15 RepliesNo more blink shotty for the scrubs. Poor things.

"Turn that frown upside down"

Thank god, it won't be missed.

7 Replies*Prays Voidwalker can still blink*

So it seems like bungir again made the arc hunter class primarily for pvp and it will be called op. and nerfed in the first patch. Unless they reworked how melee works in pve, arc strider will be about as effective as blade dancer for pve i.e. not.

Edited by Orbital Drop Shock Trooper: 6/13/2017 4:57:13 PMOne of my most fond moments in D1 Y1 raid would be when I would be swordbearer on Crota and would blink in, dish the damage, and blink out. So casually. It was one of the main reasons people spammed my inv box every tuesday for Crota. We would have it in one try every time thanks to blink. (And in melee invis). Jumping works too but blink gave the theatrics.

It had to go because,
blink

and you missed it.
23 RepliesYay! The crutch is gone!

I like blink but it was poorly designed, would have been nice if they redid it but oh well

18 RepliesSo far D2 looks to me like a huge nerf fest. No more blink? Why? It had so many draw backs already. You couldnt icarus palindrome no one , you couldnt hover or triple jump over a door and trick guardians . You had stupid ready times for guns after a blink , no radar.... Titan skating gone .... not like it was the best thing about titans ....no . Why play a titan now?
-
You will all end up Pole Dancers anyway.
-
Arc Strider Shade stepping though
-
3 RepliesWho's blink and where's he going.
-
I feel like they could have copy pasted D1 blink, nerfs and all, into D2 and it would have worked fine. 2 blinks before cooldown, no radar coming out of blink, slower weapon ready speed. Would have worked perfectly
-
2 RepliesI never used it and it was annoying to face (almost as annoying as the taken - hopefully the taken are gone), so this isn't a hot point for me. RIP blink.
-
Good riddance! >:)

I assume Warlocks keep their Blink ability.
