I'm getting a new laptop. Nothing too expensive. Any suggestions?

  • I've got a Lenovo y700. It's only $1000 and it's great. It won't run games with very high system requirements like The Witcher 3, but it runs everything else pretty good. Here's someone testing the laptop on GTA 5: https://youtu.be/fycjSnRHkM8

  • I was gonna say Asus ROG strix then I read not to expensive... Works great for me, only complaint is that it has a short battery and gets really hot... keep this thing on a fan cooling pad... It's little diagnostics window said it was 53*C when I was done playing Mass Effect andromeda. Which it can handle on high settings. I read up and it's supposed to run hot but still pretty freaky the first time.

The HP Omen 17 has some pretty good models around $1700 http://store.hp.com/us/en/mdp/hp-omen-397505--1?jumpid=top_breadcrumb#!&tab=vao

    • As others have said, you're not going to get decent gaming performance from a cheap laptop. The cheapest gaming laptops start at around $700 minimum and even then, they barely classify as a gaming PC.

    • You're not gonna get a cheap, decent gaming laptop. If you're going for gaming, get a desktop. If you need a laptop, forget about playing games on it unless you're gonna spend 10k$. You could probably play sims or minecraft.

      • your title is an oxymoron. so is the want for solid gaming performance from a laptop and for that to be cheap. laptops are cheap from using weak, cheap, non-modular cut-down versions of parts you'd get in a desktop. if you want the power of a desktop in a laptop, that costs around 2k minimum

      • If you move a lot or have space constraints - gaming laptop might help. Else building your own rig is way more efficient.

          • Honestly build a pc or buy one. Gaming laptops are expensive and the long run waste of money

          • A decent gaming laptop will run you $1200. Not exactly cheap.

          • You're probably not gonna find a cheap gaming laptop.
