All I hear during the Atheon fight is "stop killing my oracle" and "I got third" or "let me kill the next one". Just go into the portal, kill any Oracle you see. Its not that hard.
Edit 1: Anita Sarkeesian will probably throw a fit that I am calling people to man up. So be a woman too if that fits your gender...
Edit 2: Obligatory we are trending edit
Edit 3: Wonder what strat cozmo likes best.

Just go into the portal, kill any Oracle you see.
I guarantee to you, every time you succumb to the oracles will be due to the third oracle not being killed, if you use this strategy...

Yeah honestly, the only time this annoys me is when I was just about to kill it and my mag is low, then I cut it suuuuper close, but it really is not that big of a deal

4 Repliesyep your way leads to WIPE

5 RepliesSome of the replies in this are brilliant. Just shoot an oracle and leave. End of.

Edited by Raider TCK: 5/8/2017 11:41:25 PMSome people are idiots. If someone kills the oracle you were shooting at, you move onto the next one and start shooting at that. Luckily I run in teams that will only take experienced players. The general rule of thumb is 'shoot the oldest oracle you see'. Doing this method I was able to get all three challenge raids done on Tuesday in about 2 hours of playtime total. And two out of three of those runs we got atheon kills in the very first attempt getting the challenge mode done. The older an oracle gets the more health it gets. It gets to a certain point and it will trigger the wipe mechanic. If two people from the outside team come in, and see that oracle 1 or 2 is still up, there is a problem and they need to kill it fast. Whoever sees their name pop up for the kill. If you kill one you get out and help keep the gate free from harpies. Any experienced player will have a VOG primary. All the primaries kill an oracle solo in under 4 seconds. Both found verdict and praetorian foil kill in under 2 seconds. Praetorian foil can kill an oracle instantly if you shoot it the moment it spawns. Even if you don't have these weapons both sleeper and gjallarhorn will one shot an oracle.

1 ReplyThe only problem you can run into then though is someone may not have the ammo or need to reload to kill it. Which could cause more problems depending on what they're using.
-
2 RepliesBe a man? Whats wrong with a woman? Do you think women aren't strong enough to overcome obstacles?
-
2 RepliesAgreed. It's like people forgot about the kill feed in bottom left of screen. If two people are shooting at one and your name don't pop up then you work on the next one. People make these challenges so much harder than they really are. Way too much over thinking it.
-
25 RepliesThis type of free-for-all leads to more wipes than successful runs. Best of luck with that.
-
2 RepliesHell no. I've never been successful in a group that does that. Groups that communicate and call numbers are awesome. You must be the guy that hasn't memorized where they spawn so you pop through the portal and shoot 3 when you clearly should be 4,5 or 6
-
The only person who should call out their oracle is the relic holder. Everyone else can just keep shooting.
-
5 RepliesThank you. I hate when the guys are like, I have the 3rd oracle, stop killing mine. Just kill an oracle, get cleansed and if the portal is open, run out so the others can get it, kill their oracles and run out, leaving the relic runner to kill the last oracle.
-
29 RepliesApparently the consensus seems to be have an assigned number for an oracle. Is it really that hard to check if your name popped up. Or are relic runners really missing their oracle alot.
-
Lol. Last time VoG was up I had 4 stolen from me. I was like you -blam!-ers

2 RepliesEdited by ryebar: 5/8/2017 10:10:20 PMYou're right. The only time you call out is for the 1st one that way whoever has 2nd oracle can help the relic holder with adds. Even a couple bullets on the adds from the player taking out the 2nd oracle can be helpful. For those that have replied that not having assigned oracles is wrong and leads to more wipes my argument is that over-communicating isn't required when everyone knows. It's pretty basic that oracle 4 and 5 are left and right when you enter the portal. The 6th oracle is directly above once you enter. There's no need to over complicate. You see an oracle, you shoot it, you see your name, you get cleansed, you damage boss. That's the mechanic for this fight. That's all there is to it.
-
4 RepliesOr.... If you run in, fire one bullet and kill an oracle; maybe realize that you definitely took someone else's oracle. So shoot a few shots into the next oracle so that the person doesn't have to empty an entire extra mag into the oracle...
-
11 RepliesYour method is why people fail the challenge. It works smoother every time when the team has open communication and CALLS OUT ORACLES. Randomly killing oracles causes confusion and therefore wastes time, which is very valuable. If someone calls out an oracle, then the rest of the team knows not to waste time going for it. Also, you won't have to worry about two people shooting an oracle at the same time, preventing the all too familiar post wipe rant, "but I killed one I swear!" I'm glad you made this post, OP. You've displayed perfectly for the community WHAT NOT TO DO.
-
Every team I do this with calls out at least the first two
-
Moron
-
Just call out a number 1-6. Not that hard
-
So if someone has the chance of killing all the oracles in one phase and you fail the challenge because of your warped logic, who's fault is it?
-
Morons that do this don't realise they are jeopardising the challenge. Especially if you have vog weapons that do bonus damage equipped in secondary only. You have limited ammo, if you waste 2 rounds on an oracle and someone snakes it then there is a good chance you won't have enough ammo to kill the next one. Is it really that hard to understand? And more surprising, is it really that hard to do?
-
I would argue that it is also just as easy to shoot a different oracle if you see someone shooting the oracle first. Most of the groups that I have been a part of that have done the challenge smoothly recognize that they are the second one shooting, then move to the next one instead of killing that wasting someone's ammo.
-
Unless someone kills the 4th one and everyone forgets the third and then you get killed by it
-
7 RepliesTo everyone who disagrees with OP: Use heavy ammo. It's the only useful thing Xur sells
