Scientifically speaking, if you're "born" with brown hair and blue eyes, it's because your DNA contains the genetic codes for brown hair and blue eyes.
So, it follows that if a person says they were "born" gay, then their DNA must contain a code for homosexuality, right?
Even if this were true, this would make homosexuality a disadvantageous mutation or genetic defect at best. And this is IF it is truly genetic.
Disadvantageous because:
1. All species must reproduce to survive.
2. Humans reproduce sexually.
3. Two homosexual humans cannot reproduce sexually.
4. If homosexual humans cannot reproduce sexually, then they cannot survive.
5. If Homosexual humans cannot survive, then they will go extinct, and the "gay gene" that caused them to be born gay would cease to exist.
And that's basic Darwinism for you. Advantageous genes survive, and disadvantageous ones do not.
Now, let's shift gears for a second. What if a heterosexual person mated with a homosexual person? What would the resulting offspring be?
Well, this begs many questions.
1. If a gay person mates with a person of the opposite gender, wouldn't that make them bisexual and not truly homosexual? Would this mean that bisexuality is also genetic?
2. What if a person was secretly gay, and kept this hidden from their heterosexual partner? (While this technically could happen, why would they do this?)
The above examples are the only *consensual* ways I can think of for homosexuality to be passed on to children via sexual reproduction. (Not counting artificial insemination or sexual assaults.)
The bottom line is, if someone is arguing that a gay gene has survived within the human race, they are making one or more of the following claims:
1. Gay people aren't really gay, but ALL humans are actually born bisexual and just happen to have a preference towards one *or more* gender(s).
2. Since the dawn of the human race, gay humans have been "tricking" heterosexual humans into mating with them to ensure the survival of the gay gene. (Highly unlikely.)
3. Some heterosexual people don't actually know that they are carrying the (dormant) gay gene, and unknowingly pass it on via sexual reproduction.
4. The "gay gene" is a mutation that only VERY recently started to randomly generate within the human race for unknown reasons.
5. The gay gene has survived millions of years of natural selection, despite being disadvantageous to the survival of our species (until the last 100 years with advancements in medical technology that make it irrelevant to our survival).
Claim: A homosexual gene could not possibly have survived within the human race up until this point. If it does currently exist, then it is a mutation that has only recently started to appear, AND it can only survive under very specific circumstances.
Discuss.

1 ReplyI'm gay

9 RepliesTell that to my friend who was depressed because he was homosexual. He prayed to his god and cried because of what he was. How about you actually ask gay people instead of assuming you know about them? Please don't reproduce. The world doesn't need more people spreading false information while they oppress people based off of how they were born.

Homosexuality has always been around, it's nothing recent

1 ReplyDoesn't have to be all fenotype sir...

10 RepliesIt's called a mutation. If it worked the way you thought it did, then there'd be no one with down syndrome.
-
I agree with you but this shit is funny lol
-
Yet some humans are born with a disability like not walking or anything else needed to survive.

1 ReplyAre you homosexual? No? Then why do you give a shit if someone else is? Let it go.
-
12 RepliesMan, those dumb homos sure are stupid for choosing to be gay and get shit on by society for thousands of years, right OP?

Watch out mentioned anything about gays or transgenders. Ninjas are being over sensitive snowflakes.
Inb4ban and I don't care
It makes no sense cause theres homos who turn straight so what

1 ReplyWhat is your explanation for homosexuality being observed throughout every stage of human history? People's upbringings have changed dramatically, so it can't be purely due to environmental factors. Also, various animals have been observed to have homosexual traits too. What is true for us must also be true for them

1 ReplyEither you are born homosexual or it's a choice......who cares?! Why do people feel the need to change other people's sexual orientation? If homosexual behavior bothers you that much simply stay away from places that homosexual people are known to frequent. And to say that "God" is against it so I am too is a weak ass excuse. If "God" really exists and he allowed us FREE WILL then how can he be upset when certain people choose to exercise said Free will? Even if God is real then I feel that it's something each person will have to explain themselves at some point to the big guy. That's between each individual and whichever God they pray too, not for other people to condemn and shun them.

11 Repliesby the "you're born gay logic" people can argue that someone is BORN a murderer or a rapist "Its not my fault, I was BORN this way"
-
3 RepliesThere's is no gay gene if you are gay or bisexual it is because of a traumatic experience in your childhood. A relative of mine was growing up straight and then she watched her little sister die a slow painful death from a brain tumor. Or you're gay just because a decision you choose to make it is YOUR choice alone there's is nothing to do with genetics and being gay and for the love of all that is holy THERE ARE ONLY 2 GENDERS MALE OR FEMALE AND YOU ARE BORN LIKE THAT SO YOU CAN EITHER DEAL WITH IT OR BE WEIRD

This threads gay. I know that much

5 RepliesYou know people are still going to believe otherwise no matter how much evidence there is right?

1 ReplyEdited by tjustie: 3/31/2017 6:32:34 PM...unless it's the result of freak gene mutations, or the result of certain rare combinations of genes, or prenatal hormone patterns, or brain structure or whatever the -blam!- else it could be. Genetics isn't as simple as the little 2x2 punnet squares you learned in middle/high school. There are hundreds of genes that code for height alone, and I highly doubt you or anyone else on this forum is even remotely qualified to be making assertions about genetics like the ones in the OP.

4 RepliesYou just compared physical attributes to sexuality, that's like comparing apples to oranges. People are born with different IQ levels, different personalities, different thought processes. People have different sexual drives, different fetishes, different sexual orientations, etc. I believe that it's a combination of nature and nurture.

1 ReplyNice post.

6 RepliesHomosexuality is actually quite strongly genetic, while there might not be a gene for it. Twin studies show that the rate of identical twins brought up in different households being homosexual given the other twin is homosexual is 52%, which is around the same level of concordance as height.

3 RepliesEdited by moist nana: 4/1/2017 5:47:41 AMIdk the science behind it but in physiologically, mental states can be hereditary. For eg. If the father had mommy daddy issues, there's a high chance the child will naturaly have mommy daddy issues. If the mother/father was instictly ambitions theres a high chance the child will be ambitious. If the father has a deep lust for dick, there's a high chance the child.... yea you get the picture.

2 Repliesthe answer is that its a natural variation and is probably linked to more than just a gene also maybe they had siblings that were not homosexual how does autism and down syndrome continue to survive in the population? they aren't reproducing either

11 RepliesPeople have been homosexual for thousands of years. They've just been killed or punished and so it was common to fear homosexuality and become heterosexual to survive longer. Religion has also played a major part in stopping the spread of homosexuality, even though there is nothing evil about it.
