Is that they did the patch they way they did was to make pvp matches last longer. Think about it pve players are leaving because there is nothing to do. And pvp players are leaving because of the meta. It is cheaper to change PvP to make matches to make play time longer. Than it is to make new content.
Remember slower matches = them saying "see people still play!"

5 Repliesmatches are still the same amount of time IMO. but the wait for a match to start... that has gotten stupid. I'd say half of my matches now start with missing players. and forget about it if you see an actual FT on the other side, you'll be 1V6 for the match.

Matches aren't lasting longer and they shortened the length of trials rounds to 90 seconds. So calling bullshit.

There's a big problem with this theory… You can extend a match by a minute or two, but when you lose a third of your player base, that can't possibly make up for it. No doubt, they screwed up badly with this patch. This is the problem with them going to Reddit for feedback. That site will smash you if you have anything critical to say about the game, and has nothing but praise for Bungie. Bungie should listen to their players on their own forums, because it is straight to the point, without the rose tinted glasses, or the swallowing of the big D.

This makes more sense then them intentionally ruining their game. Everything they've done is to squeeze more time out of players, most infamous strategy to accomplish this was the exotic reset of TDB, so yeah, I buy your theory, it matches up with their past actions.

1 ReplyLook if I have 2 spare hours to play today Im going to play 2 hours and not a minute longer...

You do know they're currently making new content right?... they've got 2 other studios alongside bungie working on destiny 2. If you're bored then play something else. Not even bungie expects everyone to always be constantly playing.

I wasn't aware they changed the timer on the pvp playlists.
Sarcasm for ya in case you missed it.
This logic made some small amount of sense when applied to discontinuing elemental burn raid primaries. PvE activities would take longer because... shields, and the weekly raid/nightfall/etc. completionists would elevate the overall playtime. This logic holds no water when working with PvP matches that are timed and usually reach the end of the timer or close enough. Yes, there are game modes that are more prone to slaughter rule ends... but what percentage of overall PvP do they represent and how many of these early victories would have changed pre versus post patch?

Matches still last the same amount of time, if not shorter at times with me. Then again I actually play against people that decided they don't want to wait forever next to a box and actually want to go around getting kills. Maybe, just maybe, the problem is with players when it comes to special ammo. Could you imagine Halo 3 if people just camped at shotty, sniper, and sword spawns all day?
-
I didn't notice matches being any longer. People still die pretty fast in the crucible.

Here's the picture the media don't want you to see.
