11 RepliesOverwatch fills a role for IGN that other games can't but that doesn't make it game of the year. Look at what IGN gets out of Overwatch. The game is cross platform so it servers IGN's PC, Xbox, and PS4 readers. Overwatch is multi-player so it serves the myth that all gaming is going social plus social players. Overwatch has cosmetic only micro-transactions, so it servers the industry's need to reap more profits. Overwatch has frequent updates so it gives more for IGN to report on. This is the same kind of industry serving bs that led to Overwatch winning the The Game Awards. Want see Overwatch's actually popularity? As OP mentioned, Overwatch was not the people's choice. That's supported by hard data. Look at Playstations 2016 top downloads where Overwatch is #7th. That's pretty low on the list for a multiplayer only game. Look at Microsoft's most played games for 2016 and Overwatch is #8th. So much for the narrative that Overwatch has redefined competitive multiplayer. The Division has had a bigger impact on gaming! Overwatch is a great game and I recommend it especially now that you can find it on sale for about $30. The maps are best in class, the characters are fun and different, and the population is healthy. But your enjoyment of the game depends on your skill level and the people you play with. Your appreciation of the game world depends on how many videos and comics you have watched outside the game. Games modes are also severely limited so I hope you enjoy team objectives. Overwatch is just no competition for all the great 2016 games that provide a solid well rounded entertainment experience.

It's amazing story,gameplay ,character customization, humor, action, co-op gameplay, music and ETC are the best things I have ever seen. Overwatch I have played so I get rights to judge. It's a TF2 rip off of a generic superhero shooter made for little kids but only adults play it which is pretty creepy. [spoiler]overwatch made better hentai then a game and I'm an anime freak...
