Nova bomb damage to user

I rhink its pretty lame how when i use my nova bomb i have to make sure i have enough health to survive if i want to use it at the ground. Especually when a sunbreaker can just ahoot willy nilly with no drawbacks if he chooses to throw one at his feet. I just want my super to be a move with no drawbacks just like all the other supers. No nerfs to others, just take away damage to the user

        • For real, why is it that I can kill myself with my super when none of the other supers do that shit. Seriously, thos game is so inconsistent I wonder why this hasn't been addressed.

          It's fine how it is, it's like standing in any other explosion you create, your grenades can kill you, your own rockets can kill you, heck, even icebreaker or guns with explosive rounds can kill you when used without thought or care. Live with it.

          • Not to be a jerk, but I'm a Voidwalker main; I love my Nova bomb! Sure the damage is annoying, but get over it. I've been killed multiple times by my own super, hilariously most times. The only time it is annoying is when one of my teammates runs in front of me when I'm mid super-activation and I kill myself... There is a lot of things wrong with this game that Bungie seems to ignore, but this shouldn't be one of them. Adapt and overcome!

              I got a Warlock down to a heartbeat, and he tried to throw a nova bomb at me, he missed, and hit a pillar in front of him, which killed himself. It took me a second or so to realise what had happened, I couldn't old not stop lolling. Was it you that died?

              • lol the only way you will kill yourself is if you're like halfway down in red, and only then it's like if you're nova bombing directly below you. There has to be some repercussions since you basically have a long range fist of havoc, it has to be somewhat fair

                • Eh, it makes sense to me that it does damage to the user. It's like an oversized, super strong grenade and grenades do damage to the thrower. Plus, 99% of the times you use it in the manner you described, it's a panic super so I'm ok with being penalized in those situations where my lack of awareness and/or skill causes me to have to throw it right on myself to avoid getting killed by a single person.

                      • Kind of agree. It's called Nova BOMB but I wonder if say increases blast radius and damage perk on nova bombs would be more appropriate of damaging yourself. The normal version would be like an resengan.

                        • What do you mean no drawbacks? Arcblade: have to get in your face to kill you. Golden gun: long range and a one shot, but no extra armor. Night stalker: different drawbacks depending on the version you use, though let's go with the most popular; quiver. A little bit extra health and fire more shadow shots but the tether doesn't tether as for not lasts as long. On to the titans. Fist of havoc: needs to be in relative distance to be effective, after using you stand there like an idiot just ripe for the shot gunning. Defender: bubble is hard to break but you have to stay in one place to utilize it or relatively close to the bubble depending on which version you're using. Sunbreaker: while the hammers have a relatively decent blast radius you still have to be half decent at guesstimating the angle to throw those little flaming throw backs to NES Mario. On to warlocks! Sunsinger: self Rez has mostly become a free kill at this point due to the extended Rez animation. Otherwise I think people underestimate how to use this roaming super. Storm caller: I'm gonna be honest I can't really think of any drawbacks to this obnoxious little asshole other than maybe awareness? I dunno. And then we have the drawback you're complaining about... I mean c'mon man.
