A post from thes destiny reddit needs to be addressed here as well

Credit goes to reddit user Mike_M5 Forbes: Has Destiny crossed the line with microtansactions? http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2016/10/05/destiny-is-crossing-yet-another-line-by-selling-iron-banner-armor-sets/#2979ddca420e Quoted from the article: "No, we still have not arrived at the game selling Raid or Trials gear in this same way, but how far away from that are we really? It’s hard to know what comes next, but it’s clear that Bungie is going to keep pushing. We very well might see Trials armor next, or Raid armor down the line. We might see Bungie start to sell weapons, the only thing never to appear in these treasure boxes so far, but it won’t be “selling power” because they’ll be at a useless light level until you infuse them. Uh huh. Right." "While I understand why Bungie is trying to turn Destiny into a more consistent revenue stream, they have definitely pushed things too far with Rise of Iron. I have previously talked about Destiny’s new ornament system, but while I have no problem with the idea of selling weapon and armor skins, the way these are collected and applied to gear is nightmarish and punishing, and also this week, fans have learned that the much-awaited level 22 Rise of Iron book reward was not an unlimited supply of armor ornament tokens as previously thought, but only a single one, meaning that it’s either months of work to fully ornament an Iron Lord set, or you essentially have to pay money and gamble for tokens." MY THOUGHTS: When I turned silver dust into Iron Engrams and got a duplicate that I dismantled into legendary marks... That's when I said that's too much.

Meaning your whole post is pointless...........

      • The ONLY time it would be a problem is when they sell weapons and armor for money and the weapons and armor have a DISTINCT advantage over in-game gear and the silver gear cannot be obtained in-game without purchase. If that makes sense. Basically, if it got to the point silver gear is clearly superior compared to in-game gear.

      • This article, like so many from Forbes, are not actually an article reporting anything. It posits a question, that cannot be answered, but implies that the answer is inevitable. "Is Bungie going to start selling weapons and armor to make you stronger in the game? We don't know, but it could happen! Thanks for reading! Now enjoy the ads on this page!" As for the dismantled Iron Engrams, that was on the list of items that need to be fixed. Whether intentional or not, it is being removed. That being said, another poster explained the cost involved in buying sliver dust, buying iron engrams, then dismantling for marks, to buy materials, to rank up. If someone has that kind of cash to rank up repeatedly, then have at it. Must be nice owing your own private island too.

      • Microtransactions for cosmetics and light 3 armor with the same pool of perks as any other armor is fine. I have no problem with it at any price. God roll weapons I would have a problem with.

Sterling treasure was just about perfect IF there MUST be microtransactions. It felt like you were able to get a decent amount for free... I completed a second set of Taken armor shortly after RoI came out... For free. The ornaments just feel like a big Fuck you. No sublety, just a blatant overpriced RNG on top of RNG ripoff. No chance of making meaningful progress without paying a LOT. I'd be ashamed of it if I were a Bungie employee.

I think OP is being a cry baby because Bungie is offering something they really want but doesn't want to purchase silver for. Grow up.

        • I don't know. I've never cared one bit how my guardian looked. I've never cared about using a complete set of armor, other then raid gear. I've always just tried to use whatever was the highest light or gave me a stat I was looking for. If that meant I was using a raid helmet, with IB gloves, an exotic chest piece, and a regular no name boot, then so be it. Furthermore, I don't pay any attention to what other people are wearing or what they look like. I've never looked at myself or someone else and said "man they look cool, was is that set of armor?". Maybe I'm unusual and most people do care. Anyway, it seems to me that this issue is only a problem if you allow it to be. If you allow it to bother you. I mean, who cares what they sell if you have the choice not to buy it? I could see this being a massive issue if we need to buy a crucial part of an exotic quest or a Y4 gally in the future, but I'm of the opinion that a lot of these micro transactions pay for Bungie to actually turn a profit and keep the game fresh. To pay for future content and events. It is a business and people are buying this stuff in droves. As long as they're paying and keep purchasing everything Bungie sells, they'll keep putting stuff up for sale. It's never going to stop and eventually there probably won't be anything that you can't buy. But to blame Bungie is weird because it's us that's buying it.

        • People called this when silver and emotes came to play. It's a slippery slope and Bungie is just about to go over the hump and make this game a microtransaction -blam!-fest. Next DLC or Destiny2 you'll be able to skip quests and such with real money, mark my words

I don't care if it's pay to win or just pay for cosmetics. I will not play this game again until micro transactions are removed. I have already bought the damn game and every dlc up until roi, why the hell should I have to pay more money for items within it........ After 2 solid years of this game and countless hours I am done with it and anything bungie produces with these dirty money making schemes. Edit... Why the hell anyone would defend micro transactions is beyond me.

          • To look good you pay. No gameplay advantage no problem. Every game sells character skins for money, this is no crime. If you want to look that certain way then pay, if not, then find something else.

            • With microtransactions set up the way they are now they give players the option to spend money to customizes while not affecting gameplay in any way at all. The also give a chance to get it in game for free. That's how it is supposed to be. That being said ornaments are like the background screen on your phone; your pretty much the only one that will see it. If you think it's worth it go for it. I think most of us would say your waisting money on something fairly useless though.

              • Simple leave the game, micro transactions of this extent are so minimal compared to say world of warcraft. Seriously what has gone too far is people like you that think that an opinion is fact and so fourth. I think that too many people on here have got over a game and they basically spend the rest of there time trying to ruin it for everyone else because they have become sour. I wrote a thing on here when micro transactions first came out and i said the only time the game will be burnt by them is when same level gear or guns to boost someone to say raid level by passing all the hard work happens. So far bungie has only put cosmetic i seen he wrote about the little medallion thing which gives you a flame on your gear. So be it that someone spent money to get the radiant treasure to look better at the end of the day i can find great gear at no cost doing raids etc.
