Idk about you guys but with all the hype going on about Destiny 2, I think when it releases, Destiny will actually die. Who agrees?

50 RepliesEdited by POWERSLAY: 9/28/2016 6:45:11 PMI don't care if they're pea shooters. I don't care if they're -100 light... but damn it. I did not put in over 1000 hours in this game for them to take everything away. I still have my Supremacy in the vault because I love my guns. I don't think I'll play anymore if they take everything away. So much loot, so many memories and so much work shouldn't be thrown away for a game that said it was a 10 year life span. I want to keep some of my items with me through the whole journey. That's the point of it anyway.

5 RepliesNo Mans Sky will kill destiny. Oh wait.

3 RepliesProbably will. I doubt Bungie will keep Destiny running for very long after Destiny 2 releases. Too costly to have server farms and support for each.

I don't know, people have said a lot of games will kill Destiny but it's still here...

2 RepliesI replied this to someone below, but I figured it merited a broader repost. Feel free to disagree with any or all points, but at least hit the TL;DR below. People keep saying it's like diablo or borderlands. What they're missing is that's exactly why many of us lose interest in those games. Running between unrelated loot treadmills gets boring and exhausting. That being said, I'm not expecting my character to be raid ready day 1 of D2. Instead they need to do something like doubling the character level (80 from 40) and make all the weapons obsolete, but introduce a new crafting system where our current vaults can be broken down to yield important and rare crafting materials. That way Y1 players don't feel like they lost their time, and D2 day 1 players aren't at a significant disadvantage. The only difference is Y1ers won't have to grind as much immediately for rare materials to start crafting the relevant weapons/armor of Y4. Also turn every consumable into a glimmer drop or rep booster. Let us keep all of our emblem, shaders, and vehicles. This would be a much better compromise then shafting Y1 players with an emblem. It wouldn't be hard to tie in lore wise either. Our guardians are the blessed undead. So D2 can be set far into the future, and we've regained golden age technology and learned a lot from the various races and threats. This makes all of our Y1 gear look like stone aged tools. The enemy has also adapted, and now require different, more "modern" (to the setting) weapons and armor. In the time since the fall of Aksis, our connection with, and understanding of, the light has also fundamentally changed. This has caused the classes of old to be revamped. Guardians will remember some of their old abilities, but will have a slew of new abilities to master. E.g. Y1-3 players will have any node of a subclass unlocked that was carried over to Y4. New skills require leveling. If they don't want to reuse the same geometry, then they can easily write off the current patrol zones through grimoire. The reef could be wiped out by a collision with the Dreadnaught. The Aksis warmind core could go nuclear under the cosmodrome. Mars can be outright blown away considering we've already established Cabal can do that. Venus/Mercury could be completely transformed as a vex machine, and take a new form or be winked out of time. The hive can successfully splinter the moon, causing shards from the moon to wipe out the cosmodrome as well. TL;DR If Bungie gave two shits about the promises they made in the last 2 years, then it would be easy to compromise with their current players to make good on their promises while also progressing the game. Sure it's not the easy or lazy solution, but it's the kind of thing that ensures Y1 players are here in Y10. The absolutely worst thing they can do is to say, "remember all that press materials and those interviews where we told you that you were going to take your guardian on a 10 year adventure, and they'd have their own story to tell along the way? Lol j/k. Sorry (not sorry)"

I'm pretty sure that's what sequels are supposed to do

1 ReplyTfw when everyone is taking thus post seriously but its satire
-
Well. i would think it would. satire post this may be, but on a serious note its unlikely they'll keep both games up at the same time for long. maybe for a bit, but eventually this game will be literally unplayable.
-
Rise of Iron kinda already slowed the game to a stop soooooooooo :p

Edited by Sixclicks: 9/29/2016 8:43:52 PMAll "<insert game> will kill Destiny" posts are just posts to gain attention. Games don't get killed by other games.

Nope, even then people will still play it.

2 RepliesNo man's sky will kill destiny

It will always be alive on patch days ;) Can't wait to log back on Destiny for some sweet nostalgia whenever the Destiny 2 servers are down.

Just really curious about whats really the best choice for D2 keeping our Guardians or not. Because I'm hearing a lot of mixed responses from people after hearing this news.

2 RepliesIt won't if the rumors are true and they scratch all charater progress and start over.

7 RepliesAm I the only one who is sad about possibly losing your current guardian?
