The more time I spend reading posts on these forums, the less I believe Idiocracy to be just a movie. It's a prophecy. We're doomed folks.
What's even less funny are the people that don't realize I'm referring to them.

2 RepliesEdited by The Cellar Door: 8/13/2016 5:51:01 PMIt's a comedy. Given, I do find it funny, and obviously the parallels can be made, however that is all very intentional in a self-aware comedy such as Idiocracy. It's only funny, because as ridiculous as it sounds, it's made to feel like an actual possibility. In reality, the human race is advancing exponentially at this point. The media and the corporations would love to have you believe that everything is in peril, because that sense of urgency makes you more apt to be a consumer. The best way to advertise is not to compare or to describe, the best way is to make your product the only product the consumer can buy, to make said product out to be something of urgent necessity, and to make sure your advertisement doesn't look like an advertisement. If all you do is watch the major news networks, you're probably like many other people who feel like this country is somehow on the verge of collapse, when it really isn't. That's the only reason why someone like Donald Trump is in the position he is right now. He's a business man, he understands very well how to sell himself. With how utterly ridiculous the media has gotten over the years, it's really a no brainer that his ascension occurred the way it did. Now, I'm not going to get into a political argument, I just want to point out the irony of many of his supporters praising the ideas of "anti-PC" and lashing out against how the media paints pictures of him, when he's doing the exact same thing, just the other way around lol. Why do you think much of his platform surrounds itself around "immediate action?" Because that's what people want in a time of peril. But I digress, the only thing that could possibly stop the progression of the human race, is if P=/=NP. If such is true, we hit a plateau, and eventually die out. Perhaps that plateau will look similar to the movie, but I doubt it.

I have seen parts of it.
