Competitive mode in Overwatch came out yesterday, and they added a few things with it, but this isn't about those things.
Competitive mode is only accessible by people with a level of 25 or over. Competitive mode adds extra rounds to most game types and sudden death to games if they end in a tie.
If your team escorts the payload to all 3 Checkpoints, you'll gain 3 points, the enemy team must do the same to tie the game and start a sudden death. Same rules apply to Capture the Objective modes.
Competitive mode is pretty much the same thing as quick play except with longer matches, the only rewards you'll get in the end are sprays and Challenge points and a combat rating. Everyone might've thought that they'd remove the possibility to have more than 1 of the same character to weed out the skilled from the unskilled, but they didn't so competitive mode would get a 5/10 rating in my humble opinion, I like the game but what's the point of adding in a mode for a challenge if people can literally just play the same as they do in Quick play.
TL;DR
Overwatch's competitive play added like 3 different mechanics into matches and is nothing different from quick play, it's omit a grind for 1 Golden Gun per 300 wins. 5/10 nothing special to see here, move along now.

1 ReplyJust the fact that there is a tank and better competitive factors in the matches is enough to make it the definitive competitive mode. I'll still play it and quickly for different reasons.
