I agree with you, but high impact shotties with rifled barrel, field choke and rangefinder are so stupid. Was bringing a friend who's new to destiny into classic 3v3 (he's not even level 8 at the time) and get put into anomaly with conspiracy theories and party crashers on the first game. So stupid. Luckily plan c worked to try and counter them. Not saying they need a nerf, but something needs to be looked at on them.

Theyve been nerfed how many times. Theyre fine. You were playing in a close ranged map. Wtf did you expect? Honestly.
-
Oh, I was still expecting a loss because I personally suck with any shotgun that isn't binary dawn. I was more pissed that we were matches with them when we had a player with a 0k/d n the first place. However even on medium to large maps shotguns can be a problem. I had a point about that in a lower comment if you wish to look for it. I'd quote it here, but I'm on mobile.

Matches are based on the highest kd in the fireteam. Also classic is where above average and sweaties play. So you just got thrown into an available game
-
It's based on highest kd? That's stupid. It also explains why my friends hate playing with me now. We also were a premade team of three helping a friend get into destiny. He doesn't have any dlc.

Edited by ThisMahSwamp: 5/6/2016 5:59:59 PMThey are perfectly fine. The range is perfectly fine, any shorter and you would quite literally need to be within melee range to get a kill. Of course shotguns excel in close quarters maps... particularly in modes like Control and other 6v6 modes. On the flip side, it's not some great mystery why snipers are so prolific in Trials of Osiris... With this said, the issue is not with shotguns or snipers, it's that fusions and side arms don't fill the gap between the two effectively. Buffs for both are long overdue. I sincerely believe this is the solution...buffing fusions and side arms would lessen the kill% gap and make the overall deviation much more "normal".
-
I'm actually liking fusions pretty well now. Side arms are not meant to be compared to weapons that can kill in one shot. They are designed as a quick swap finisher when out of ammo. Sure they can be used differently, like with no land beyond for the body shot switch and finish, but that's the idea of a side arm. Fusions might be OK with a slight buff again, but the stability increase with the last patch helped. Too much and we will be back to crying about those too.

Again, I'm agreeing with you, it's just that I feel that the outliers need to be looked at; not nerfed.
-
So, if you aren't saying they need to be nerfed, what would you have them do once they look at them?
-
Mostly just check the stats to see what shotguns are used the most and buff others so they're also competitive. if the numbers support my claim. I'm probably wrong but even on larger maps shotguns can be an issue. The other team can easily lock down a part of the map with them, for example pantheon is a very large map but has very narrow choke points that people tend not to think twice about going down them.

There are two major choke points that snipers can all but lockdown permanently: Waterfall and the very central portion of the map. The only real counter to that is a flank to the outside perimeter (adjacent to Waterfall) or a left or right swing (depending on where you spawn map wise) around the column in the center of the map....which basically avoids all sniper fire.

Shotguns all 1 shot if in their range. If you buff others, you end up with faster firing shotguns with high range. Where they need a buff is pve. If they are commonly used it's because people like to either camp corners or run and gun with them, just as the common use of snipers is because people like to kill from safe distance before engaging. The high impact ranged shotguns are going to be the go to for pvp. I don't think there is much to do for the others. I prefer faster firing shotguns for pve personally. But those are dangerous since they nerfed shotguns last because it still takes several shots to bring down shielded or yellow bar enemies. With the buff to fusion stability, if you time it properly you can melt a shotgunner before they can get in range. That's how it's intended. Fusions could possibly use a little more, but not much. I think they are pretty good right now. They seem to be pretty consistent, at least the high stability variants.
