I'm a veteran with bad anxiety. I hate having to rely on other people to do Trials and raids.
I am 80% disabled for anxiety from my time in Iraq. The take away point is that I like to do things by myself and I strongly dislike having to socialize with other people. I snapped my Destiny disk in half 2 hours ago because of Trials. Damn Bungie stop sh1tt1ng on the solo player. The worst part is having to beg and grovel at the feet of people with high kd & elo just to have a reasonable shot at going flawless. I'm not paying someone on Twitch. But if I want to go to the lighthouse I have to kiss someone's ass? No thank you I have too much pride for that. I am so bitter towards this game and this community. All of you have failed me.

same here buddy,playing since start,never raided for the same reason.i got a love hate thing with this game because of its walls to top gear,i want the doctrine of passing more than i want sex but i aint happening.i hate how bungie has handled solo players...fair enough the best gear should be earned but they should have a system that recognises if you have been playing for a long time without ever doing a raid or trials etc and give an alternative option,ive been looking for an lfg that has our issues at its core and lets you game with likeminded people but ive found nothing.i joined d o d as im a parent with limited time and its fine for coe and nightfall as you can play without a mic but trials and raid are still locked off for me

1 ReplyTo be fair, the Lighthouse is for people that deserve to be there. As in, you need skill. No carries. I know this because I've never been. I absolutely KNOW I don't deserve it, and I've accepted that. I'm a raider. Raids are another animal. At this point in TTK, unless you can easily replicate the movements and understanding of a YouTube video, you probably need someone to guide you through your first time. You need a Sherpa. I used to do it a lot for VoG and Crota, and I've helped a lot of people through KF, though I've never advertised as one since TTK dropped. I'd be happy to help you. I'll even get the team together for you. Normal first, then Hard. No carries. You'll be pulling your own weight by the end of it, guaranteed. I'm on XBone, and laid up from a surgery for a couple of weeks. I'm EST and usually play during the day when the wife is at work, or late night when she hits the sack. Give me a shout. LET'S ROLL!!! I have aspergers, social anxiety the main part of it, I also stutter, results in my gaming for hours on end, for years, never used a mic once. I've completed everything the game offers other than a few pvp grimoire n oryx hard. I'm not great at pvp but I've been flawless 7 times, n no I wasn't carried. Find 2 guys who are happy to play with u with no mic, stick with them, do bounties, get better, n it'll happen. There's tonnes of people like us, who don't like using mics. Just be honest on lfg, start by finding bounty groups n go from there On a brighter note, I'm dropping trials for good now, with so much 335 events coming next week, screw sweats of osiris :)) it's not fun anyway

Sure you got yours from seeing unthinkable actions all the time but others have it hard outside the military as well. Just in different ways. An actual vet wouldn't get pissed over a damn game, they would move on with their life and do something else instead of bitching on the forums why they hate this game. How about you make friends next time before you try to ass kiss someone for a carry.

I recently played trials with people that didn't use a mic from LFG (maybe they do t spread English well?) had a great time with zero pressure and finished our bounties. I don't like to talk to people to play a game. I guess there are others out there

If you have bad anxiety from Iraq I don't think a shooter would be the best game for you to play, just saying because my brother suffered from PTSD and iv learned some things, but much respect for you.

Not every game is for everyone. Accept your disability and find something more suited for yourself. No matter how much you may enjoy whatever you enjoy about this game, your issues are with a huge component of it.

In the past I would post on the forums in the recruitment section. Typically I would say need two. Have mic and communicate. No other requirements were really necessary. Been to the lighthouse twice. Not amazing but you can definitely get there.

You do know that you can play Destiny without doing Trials if it's too much for you, right? I have only ever attmpted Trials once, and it was enough for me. That hasn't stopped my overall joy for the game, though.

I've done plenty of raids with someone who had a mic but wasn't using it. They could still hear us and still knew what we were saying. I don't bother with trials either. Getting over anxiety means putting the work in to put yourself in situations you're uncomfortable so you can move on from it. Coddling yourself and avoiding it doesn't help.

1 ReplyPut the entire situation into perspective. If Destiny is making you mad enough to snap the disc, you should probably play/do something else with your free time. It's a game, don't take it so serious. Thank you for your service, I hope your anxiety subsides over time.

What did I do? But I agree. I was a solo player for a long time and it was miserable.

That's rough man. This new update seems to give the solo players more options to increase their light. Might be a better experience for you.

Sorry about your anxiety, my step mom has an anxiety disorder and sometimes it gets a little nuts. With that being said I do think bungie made destiny to be more on the social side. I'm not going to defend destiny or tell you to [i]git gud[/i], but maybe trying a different game would be the best solution.

1 ReplyI appreciate your frustration. I have a love/hate relationship with Trials. I lose far more than I win, especially if I join up with teammates from an lfg site. It's more fun with clan mates personally. I have a couple smaller scale Twitch streamers that I watch, and that's pretty much my only chance at going flawless. My primary Twitch streamer, The_Jxshy, I regard as a legitimate friend. He worked hard to help me go flawless - last weekend we had five 8-1 attempts before finally going flawless. I didn't have to ask or beg, he helped me because he's a nice guy and he seemed to legitimately wanted to see me get to the Lighthouse. I think he wanted it more than I did! I suggest checking him out. I fundamentally am opposed to the concept of a "carry". When I play with stronger players I do my best, and try to keep them alive and focus on revives. Keep playing man. The game should be a stress relief, not a source of anxiety.
