Does it make you feel good to deprive another human being of the right to marry the person they love?
Edit: Some common "arguments":
•"It's not natural"
Homosexuality has been observed within the animal kingdom in numerous species.
•"It's not marriage"
Who defines what marriage is? If humans do, then we are free to change it the meaning whenever society progresses. If "God" defined it, then you must first actually prove the existence of your deity and prove that he inspired the people that wrote your holy book.
•"I just don't think is ok"
NOBODY is saying you have to think its ok but you can't take away rights from people just because it's your opinion.

Edited by UncleSir_: 1/20/2016 4:15:36 AMFor both sides of the argument - For gay marriage - no one is being denied a right. Everyone has the same rights....I can marry a CONSENTING, UNMARRIED person of the OPPOSITE sex that is of LEGAL age just like you. What you want is not equal rights, it is a change in the law. Against Gay marriage (religious) - pick a testament and stick to it, if they can't have it both ways, neither can you. Follow ALL of the rules or none. Against Gay marriage (it's illegal) - the US Constitution ensures everyone's right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Which means if it doesn't effect your ability to live, your freedom, or your ability to pursue your dreams it is unconstitutional to ban it. (animals are not citizens and therefore are not granted the right to let you poke them in the bum.) Ultimately, let it go. Making gay ppl hide and try to conform only makes more gay ppl...because that is where gay ppl come from...straight ppl.

6 RepliesNext people will say, "oh it's ok to have sex with your dog, it's your animal and you love them." Oh just look at how many times it has been observed in the wild animal trying to have sex with humans."

2 RepliesOh, well thanks for alerting me that animals are sometimes homosexual. I'm gonna go -blam!- that guy over there in the ass, cuz ya know, animals do it, so it must be ok.

There are a bunch of Christians who quote the bible and say, "We don't hate homosexuals, we just hate homosexuality." The original quote is, "Love the sinner, hate the sin." It's a shame we just -blam!-ing hate them and their sins, huh?

Edited by TH0MAS THE DANK : 1/20/2016 2:42:12 AMThe belief that marriage is between 2 people who are "soul mates" and love each other, is a religious invention. Marriage prior to that was primarily used for monetary reasons, or to unite certain families through arranged marriages. Marrying for true love is basically a religious tradition, something most gays despise.

It's natural for people to show aversion for the abnormal. Eventually as their numbers grow people will learn to tolerate it.

10 RepliesFun fact: marriage predates religion and originally never specified genders just that it was an agreement between two groups or families. Put into simple vulgar terms you can sum it up as originally being legal slave/property trading.

I don't support it because it's not natural, God says it's wrong, doesn't benefit society, and I JUST DONT CARE!

3 RepliesSome people still oppose interracial marriage. It may no have impact on law nowadays, but the stigma still exists, despite interracial marriage being perfectly permissible in the eyes of the law. Rome wasn't built in a day. Give it time, and the hostility will weaken. It'll still linger, because everything has at least a minor level of opposition to it, but it won't be nearly as public or prevalent.

It doesn't benefit society.

14 RepliesIt insults me because marrige between a man and a woman was and has always been honored and sacred. It's the ultimate display of affection to have that kind of commitment. With making men able to Mary men and vise versa for women, it has degraded that honored position of marrige. It's offensive because it made my parents marrige look like a joke, my friend's marrige look like a joke, and my ideas of getting married in the traditional family unit THAT WORKS look like a joke. That's why it offends me so. Every society before their demise has destroyed the family unit... It's happening again. Yell at me all you want... Homosexual marrige offends me greatly for that reason. Don't you dare go off the wall and try to accuse me of bigotry and offending you

3 RepliesBecause marriage is a religious institution. Most religions do not condone it. It is that simple.
