Assuming you believe what your country is fighting for.
Say a Third World War did happen, and you were called to service, would you be willing to go to the battlefield for your country and its ideals, knowing you will most likely die?
I ask this because in my History class today, we discussed World War II, and there were some graphic pictures and dramatizations of D-day. Seeing the horrors of what they went through to secure the freedom I enjoy today, I began to question if I could do it. My ultimate conclusion was yes, I would be willing to, but I wonder how many share that sentiment, or in the event that it did happen if Id stay true to my resolution.
Something else I got to thinking of after seeing footage of both world wars was the number of people that died before doing anything. To live for months in disgusting trenches only to get shot and die the moment you stick your head out for an assault. Or on D-day, many soldiers were gunned down instantly upon opening the doors to their barges. It seems like such a waste.
Did they really make a difference? Perhaps the bullets they took allowed the man behind them to make it farther, I don't know. Just some reflection on the topic. War is a brutal thing, but I believe it necessary at times. Someone has to stand up for what's right, or the world will be a chaotic and unsafe place.
Your thoughts?

For my country, no. For all the people in my country, no. For a select few, yes.

My friends and family? Yes. My country? Not so sure.

Well if I believed in what we were fighting for then I wouldn't be dying for my country as much as dying for my cause.

3 RepliesIt just shows the spirit of the destiny community. Destiny: a game where you fight to get rid of the darkness ( the enemy of war ) to save the world. Sound a lot like war to you? 60% said they wouldn't. Pretty ironic that they play it out in virtual reality. But they wouldn't in real life.

Kind of a difficult question. Fight to protect all the rapists, murderers, corrupt politicians, bigoted hypocritical assholes, etc. I want to say no because a large number of people aren't worth saving. However, the reason I say yes is because the good people shouldn't suffer for the mistakes of the evil

2 RepliesWell my life would get so much less boring if I was involved in World War 3. I know war is literally unimaginably terrible, but regardless. Bring it.

I wouldn't give my life for my country, but I would give my life for my people.

I protect and serve Earth and all her colonies, even in my dying breath.

3 RepliesConsidering that we will never have a world war remotely close to WW2 with all the readily available nuclear weapons. A present time world war would last maybe hours beforw it sent the world into nuclear winter. At that point it wouldn't really matter if we would die for our country it would likely happen nonetheless

With how America is now probably not.
