Elemental primaries are being left behind. They had the distinct and undesirable property of limiting a broad weapon sandbox to a few weapons.
You're free to disagree, but I strongly prefer the breadth of arsenal options, the potential of finding a better Legendary than you have to being stuck because of a damage color.
Additionally, no Legendary weapons with damage colors has the property of making secondaries and heavies more important because of their damage color.

2 RepliesDear Luke: You know what else limits a broad weapon sandbox to a few weapons? Tying them to our light level. We're forced to use whatever weapon we have that has the highest number, regardless of what it is or even if we enjoy using it. Once we have infused a gun to a high light level? We're stuck with it. Bungie employs the dumbest smart people on earth.

Except for Zhalo....

1 ReplyAm I the only one OK with this? I think it's cool that I won't be forced to use a specific weapon because of the advantages it has over other ones

84 RepliesEdited by Hooligantuan: 10/24/2015 4:41:03 AMI am pretty sick of that dude's design philosophies. Like, seriously. Sick of this one dude showing up in nearly every story where Destiny is experimenting with a shitty decision. Because: 1) Locking out Year 1 weapons from Year 2 statistics also buried many more non-Elemental primary weapons. I have a Grim Citizen and a For the People that I loved, and they committed no sin. 2) No Matchmaking in a number of play venues, still, just because this dude thinks you have a friend list full of Destiny bros, or should have a friend list full of Destiny bros, or - failing that - you should just have to waste time on a 3rd Party LFG site just because. 3) Elemental primaries are a problem because they limit the pool of active weapons? The problem wasn't that there were Elemental primaries, it's that they only came from Raids. 4) Throwing money at the screen. Yeah, it's been months, but still - I got a coin purse I'd like to throw at you.

4 RepliesStart shooting a wizard. Takes a whole clip to break shield. Wizard shoots me, I shoot wizard. Wizard gets hit, runs behind cover and shield regens. Now repeat that about 10 times. Either kinetics need more damage on average against shields, shield health needs to be addressed, or we need elemental primaries.

Exotics should all have elements to them. Primary elemental damage limited to exotics would be cool
-
I agree with this.....

5 RepliesYou people do know he is a community manager and writer. He has nothing to do with the actual process of creating the game. "Community Manager" is corporate for scapegoat
-
Luke Smith doesn't care about what ppl says to this game. He just wants money to stuff his fat face some more
-
It's funny how, since he's the only name people actually know, people assume that he singlehandedly makes every decision about everything in the game.

9 RepliesWhat's my motivation to play the raid now? To infuse? I can play 3oc Strikes and get higher light rewards that way. Disappointed
-
4 RepliesEdited by Siptah: 10/25/2015 1:31:17 PMOr they can just make consumables in all end game content to infuse any primary you choose into an elemental? PROBLEM SOLVED
-
1 ReplySomeone needs to tell Luke Smith that Zhalo Supercell exists
-
8 RepliesI like using weapons I enjoy. Having to use a specific weapon just because it has an element attached to it would ruin that for me.
-
Hey guys! Here is a discussion video I made covering this! Make sure you leave your thoughts in the comment section! Thanks guys :)!

2 RepliesIf its a weapon type everyone uses, Luke Smith boots it from the game. What a mess. Luke Smith seems to indicate everyone used elemental primaries in PvE. Every strimmer complains no one uses primaries in PvP. Oh boy. But hey, I got 20 strange coins from the nightfall this week! Meanwhile, I wait for RNGesus to bless me with better gear. Never getting any legendary gear (year one) and then always getting legendaries you won't use (year 2) are apparently not the same end result to this team of developers.

Where is the part where he confirms that he is really a guy who works at Little Caesar's?

Sick of Luke Smith someone fire this clown and save Destiny.
-
Why doesn't he ever post here?
-
They limit weapons and gear every DLC by making them irrelevant when the next DLC comes out. So I don't know how he's making more variety by not having element primaries drop. Their whole problem is making everything worthless every couple of months. The real problem with this game is Bungivision.

TITAN EXILE COSPLAY!!!

Good. I agree with Luke Smith.

24 RepliesGoing backwards, bungie loves to do it. Give us something amazing then nerf it or take it away completely. Don't they realize that is what keeps happening making the experience less enjoyable. Here is a tip bungie. Create ways to make better guns and quit taking the best part out of them to make yours and our game harder. Yeah I'm talking bout, field scout, hammer forged, gally, ice breaker, hopscotch, black hammer and now elemental primary weapons and so on.

3 RepliesEdited by Nëfërātā: 10/24/2015 8:00:24 PMEvery primary should have a burn but it drops with a random element. Whole discussion solved... People wouldn't stick just with fatebringer or whatever they would take their favorite drops into nightfall etc. Luke Smith is a pain in the ass anyway... Idk why that clown shows up everywhere??!
-
8 RepliesI think this is fantastic. You go into a raid or strikes and every player is using a different primary. Before all people used were Vision and Fatebringer. Doing away with elemental primaries is great for the game.
-
They said they would take away elemental primaries(not counting exotics) like 3 weeks ago. Idk why everyone is surprised.
