PVP needs a Tutorial.

I feel like many people misunderstood my point, so I changed the title. I am not asking for "bad" players to be locked out of crucible. I simply want them to start playing the objective of whatever game mode they are in. Some of you say you only play crucible because Bungie forces you to. This post is not directed at you. This post is for the people who just enjoy playing crucible for fun, but aren't very good at it. I play Destiny a lot. In my many hours of gameplay, I've repeatedly encountered players who seemed like they weren't even trying to play the objective. It's become increasingly frustrating to the point that now I typically will only play rumble, unless I have a fireteam to play with in other game modes. Below are some basic concepts that you need to utilize if you want to win in each game mode. Please note that I am posting this because I typically see players not doing the things I have listed below. Usually, Lord Shaxx actually tells you to do the things I am about to post. Control: -Capture the zones. Your team gets bonus points for each zone you have. -Do not cause a spawn flip by attempting to "triple cap" your opponents. Executing a spawn flip is typically frowned upon when your team currently holds two out of the three flags. The reason being that almost every single map is ridiculously one-sided, and causing a spawn flip may result in your teammates spawning on the "bad" side. Examples of "bad" sides in control: -A spawn on Blind Watch -A spawn on Shores of Time -C spawn on Firebase Delphi. I believe these 3 are the most notorious. Typically, if your team gets these spawns in the beginning of the game, you are pretty much guaranteed to lose unless you execute a spawn flip. On the contrary, the opposite spawns on these maps are considered the "good sides." Therefore you would most definitely NOT want to cause a SF. Clash: The easiest game mode to grasp besides Rumble. Just kill the enemy team. The only thing you need to keep in mind is heavy ammo. -Heavy spawns at specified times in each game mode. -It is best to save your super for this time and devastate the enemy team, since they will likely all be gathered up at their heavy, making for easy multikills. -If you pick up your team's heavy while no one else is around, NO ONE else on your team will get heavy ammo except you. Always wait as long as feasibly possible before picking up heavy. Your teammates will hate you a lot less for it. Skirmish: Exact same thing as Clash, but with revives. Lord Shaxx: "STICK TOGETHER." He literally says this every time. He's giving you the key to victory right there. Ride each others nuts. Run around the map like a pack of wolves tied together at the ankles. It may sound weird, but trust me, this strategy absolutely increases your chances of winning in Skirmish. The strategy I'm referring to is known as "team shooting." It is when you constantly double and even triple team your opponents. Simply follow your teammates around the map, and shoot at whatever they shoot at. It will increase your chances of winning by an enormous amount. The flip side to this is running around the map lone wolf style. Do not do this. Just don't. Unless you are in the top 5% of crucible, this is an absolutely terrible idea. You can occasionally attempt to flank the enemy while your teammates have them distracted, but for the most part, sticking together is always best. Moving on...REVIVES. REVIVES. REVIVES. You have to try and pick up your teammates whenever you can. Not only does this give you an overshield, but revives actually give your team points. Albeit a small amount (50 points), points are points and in the end that 50 points per revive may be the deciding factor between winning and losing. I can't tell you how many times I've literally had teammates standing on my orb and just completely ignored me. Or I died protecting our heavy ammo, and they just pick it up while my orb is still floating on the box. Not reviving your teammates is pretty much asking to lose. Salvage: Same as Skirmish, but now with an objective. Capture relic for massive points, or let the enemy deploy their probe, and disable it. Everyone listen up. Kills do not matter in Salvage. The only thing that matters is capturing the relics. I've won several Salvage matches where I only finished with 8 kills for the entire match. But those 8 kills were each me stopping the enemy from disabling our probe. Salvage is quality not quantity. You can get 20 kills all by yourself but if you never capture a relic, your team will lose. Note about dismantling probes. It only take about 2 seconds to dismantle one. So don't leave it unattended. Guard it. Rift: The original reason I made this post. This game mode is by far the worst when it comes to players not having a clue on how to win. The objective is simple. It's basic capture the flag. Whoever grabs the spark on your team is now your most important team member and must be protected AT ALL COSTS. This means you need to follow them around the map. Be on them like white on rice. Like stink on a pig. Like fake breasts on a Kardashian. Travel in packs and completely mow down the enemies in front of your runner. Do this, and I guarantee you'll see more victories in Rift. That's all I have for now. If you read it all, thank you for taking the time. -Dom Edit 2: Lost about 10 matches of control today because literally NO ONE on my team tried to cap any flags. Not even one person. This is exactly what I'm talking about.

It's not that they don't know how to play, most of them like myself, are busy running around trying to do one damn task for a bounty or quest. Just yesterday I was working on some steps which were, first of all related to your complaint......5 kills while your runner has the spark....I wasn't hanging with my runner I was on the other side of the map waiting for our team to grab the spark so I could camp an enemy or two, Bungie has skewed the objectives by giving us specific quest tasks..... Other tasks to complete.... Void Walker energy steal melee kills Void grenade kills Nova bomb multi kills And as soon as the task is done you can bail on the match, there's a crap chance at a reward and you don't get marks anymore, most people are in it for a task, not to play as a team or win. Giving quests that require PvP elements are what has caused this problem. It wasn't noticed before because there were only two exotic quests that needed PvP kills, now almost every quest forces you into the crucible, don't thank the crappy players, THANK BUNGIE!

    • The problem with PvP is the lack of private matches where players can go learn maps and game modes with friends before playing competitively.

          • Right. So if you've never played Crucible, just stay out! Never learn how to! It bothers people who have been shot gun sliding and lag switching for the past year! Heavy sarcasm.

            • Everyone has to start somewhere. This "issue" has been around since the dawn of Pvp gaming. People need to get over it.

            • Bungie did this now players. You got quests that five great weapons but the steps mix PVE and PVP so guess what? You got yet ANOTHER new currency and one of the few ways to consistently get it is to play the PVP daily. There are a bunch of new maps to learn AND they removed the olds one (why?) so people are lost. Combine all this with a bunch of new players coming and now your have the situation you're complaining about.

            • Bump, with crucible the way I see it is "oh your team is playing now really well?" Let's break them up and put you in a team you're gonna lose in This game seems like it's designed to keep you in a shitty team unless you're in a fireteam

            • Everybody regardless of skill level or strategic know how is entitled to play PvP, you should make your post clearer that Bungies matchmaking is the issue and not player skill level/knowledge, your post reads like you want to cut 2/3rds of people out of the game.

            • I don't give a shit what happens in the crucible but since there are rewards and quests I'm going to be in there. If nothing from PvP tied back to PvE then I'd never waste time on any of the any of those modes. I'd much rather play Destiny for PvE and other games for multiplayer competition.

              • No. What should happen is that bungies match making system is whack. Just like you say you get terrible teammates, I do too. Way too much. But instead of discouraging the newbies we should petition bungie for a better match making system so that we can have an even game.
