While it certainly seem that the reign of the exotic hand cannons has come to a close, I am curious about what the seasoned veterans think of HC'S in the crucible now that the blanket magazine and range nerf have been rolled out.
While the vanilla exotic HC' do not appear to be nearly as powerful as they used to be, they still seem to hold their own in PvP. Since TTK has launched though, I think I've been killed by Thorn and Hawkmoon maybe a handful of times, TLW is still alive and well it seems in Rumble and Control game types though.
So what say the community on this, exotic or legendary, how do you think HC' fit in the new and growing meta in the crucible?

Nope! hawkmoon is the new go to weapon for Xbox users.

1 ReplyHawkmoon is pretty good, last word is situational now, and thorn is garbage. However I'd take my bad juju over any of these.
-
1 ReplyTLW and Hawkmoon are still viable, don't think I've died by a Thorn since the patch.
-
Last Word and Thorn are still overpowered in my opinion, the only change is that Last Word can't cross map someone, and Thorn can't be used to double tap and run.

im not great at pvp wouldnt even say good..but i was coming mid table near top with just my sword handle no ammo had to do the bounty was funny tbh

TLW is over represented because of the bounty. Hawk moon is used a lot. Lots of AR pulse use.
-
The Hawkmoon has become a nuisance.
-
Still my go to guns for pvp along with strangers rifle

6 RepliesI still see a lot of people use the Hawkmoon because it still 2 shots everything easily. Its not uncommon at all for your first 4 shots to have 2-3 aces pulled. What I've noticed with Hand cannons is that instead of actually nerfing the guns the right way they just made them damn near impossible to land their damage. With the Hawkmoon you pretty much have to let the gun resettle to have a chance of the bullet going where you want it. Even up close ADS is particularly unforgiving when you can usually 3 shot someone down from the hip easier then aiming.

Hand cannons are definitely still viable options. Just cant be across the map anymore.

Fine. But I'll increase the range just a little.
just a little
-
Handcannons i feel are very balanced i think they should have just a little more range but not enough to snipe but ive been having fun playing around with scrubby thorn and still decent hawk moon :)
-
For average crucible players: switching to long range HC still gives you a pre-patch feel without inflating your skill level. There doesn't seem to be too much use for shorter range HC in PVP: easily outgunned by pulse, auto, shotgun or fusion rifles on most maps. They have a very very limited niche now.

1 ReplyTLW had it's balls cut off. :'( R.I.P.
-
1 ReplyFeel like legendary hand cannons are on the decline tbh Scouts and ar's aren't much better, destiny is a pulse game now
-
TLW is popular because of the chaperone quest.
-
It's good. More of a balanced weapon type.
-
Hawkmoon and my good ole red hand are still good in my hands, so I'm content.

13 RepliesWinning rumbles with TLW still

1 ReplyHawkmoon is still king

My ace of spades wrecks in pve and pvp.

Hawkmoon seems very viable.

Makes it easier for me and my Timur Lash so eh. Its all about finding the right gun. Which i will blantantly say pre Ttk guns are meta.
