Iron thorn and trials of thorn
Dear Bungie,
I think you need to rename your crucible games as of now. Please change them as shown below:
Iron Banner to Iron thorn.
See who's thorn is bigger!
Trials of Osiris to Trials of Thorn
How long can your thorn last against other thorns?
All other crucible types can be as is...for now.
Though in all seriousness I am starting to see why people are complaining. I ran five or so iron banner matches yesterday and at one point was the only non-thorn user in each match - I had to switch to TLW or thorn just to keep up (I didn't like doing it)
Months ago bungie, you mentioned that you had to nurf certain weapons because they became a go to weapon in the crucible, you changed their stats over and over again. Well tada! Thorn is the superior go to weapon! Good job!
There's no point at this stage screaming nurf! But what I want to see is that each of the weapons that you are bringing into year two be properly balanced so that the buff nurf cycle ends and that there isn't a single weapon that reigns supreme like thorn does right now.
Anyone else agree?
Edit 1: I am not asking for a nurf to Thorn, that's happening and we all know it. I am asking that they make sure the new weapons coming into year two be balanced upon launch so that things like the reign of thorn don't happen right off the bat.

Thorn is a pain, trust when I say I understand, but if you play long enough you'll understand how trash most of the people using it is, and how to counter kill these people!

just get over it. you can beat the thorn with any other gun. I'm by no means a great player in PVP but it does not bother me as much as some of the people here. Do I say -blam!-en thorn each time I get killed by one yes. but I do that for every other gun. Just keep at it and you'll hit level 5 just like any casual will. It's more fun killing the thorn users then any other gun.

3 RepliesStop it already, I beat guys who use Thorn in crucible & I'm running with an Auto Rifle besides that the WEAPON REBALANCING will take place when Taken King comes out; in the mean time change up your play style

After Thorn, it will probably be a pulse rifle. (Red Death, Hopscotch, or The Messenger). The issue isn't that Thorn is OP. I mean, it is OP and that is a problem, but that's not the issue. The issue is that Destiny's entire PVP experience is unbalanced. The maps are unbalanced, the weapons are unbalanced, the armor pieces even lend to it. Why does EVERY defender use the Saint-14? Why does EVERY bladedancer use Mask of the Third Man? The same reason everyone uses Thorn. This is a fundamental problem with the foundation of the game's PVP environment. Nerfing Thorn, or any other weapon won't fix it. It might help, but it won't change WHY a lone weapon stands head and shoulders above the competition. Sorry amigo, but get used to it. Thorn really is the best weapon for PVP. But its just the current link in the chain. Unless there's a massive change, there will be another weapon just as bad shortly after its necessary nerf. The real problem is that there is a [u]BEST[/u] weapon at all.
