Rift is not Capture the Flag
I have seen plenty of gameplay now of the new game modes that are coming with TTK and I have to say Mayhem looks fun and so does Rift, but not as Capture the Flag.
If anyone has played Halo: Reach or Halo 4; I think Rift is more of Griffball, get the spark (Griffball) and take it to the enemy rift (Goal) and it explodes killing any enemies around it (like it did in Halo 4)
Capture the Flag is going to the enemy base and taking their flag and bringing it back to your own base, not grabbing something in the middle of the map and taking it to the enemy base
This is not a rant but more of a statement, I hear nearly EVERYONE say it's CTF and I can't see how it is, it is just too much like Griffball for me to think it's CTF.
But I will play it anyway... as Griffball
Edit: Credit to LTazer. Rift is more like Halo 4 and Halo 2 anniversary ricochet, these 2 game modes were what I mostly played in Halo 4
Another edit: I have never played Halo's assault for all those people saying this

Hey guys, here's a newsflash for you: This is not Halo! Get your heads out of your nostalgic asses and move on with your lives. While this is definitely a combination of both Assault and CTF, it is in no way a Grifball game mode. Which, btw, had nothing to do with Bungie in the slightest. It was a fan created game mode based off of a fan created web series. 343, being fans of the series, added it as an actual game mode. Halo, these days, is a fan created series and has no relation to Bungie whatsoever. Don't like it? Get over it. I'm so tired of hearing people smack talk Bungie because this game had a bad launch. It's a new type of game that ISN'T HALO. Get over yourselves.

I say they just make a straight up, no bs CTF and then make something almost identical to Griffball.

It's like a mix of capture the flag and neutral bomb.

Its actually just TDM again but you get points for scoring the ball. They made yet another game mode you can win by just killing. GG bungie

They never said it WAS CTF.. they said it would be something similar, which does not mean exactly the same.

Neutral Bomb assault. It's been in Halo before, possibly from CE but definitely since Halo 2. It was actually really fun, however I imagine Halo plays better. Vehicles were a huge reason why objective team games in Halo were so much fun. Griffball was actually built using the Assault mechanics. I believe it was community built at that. Variants included: - Single Bomb - One team defends the base, other team tries to plant the bomb in the base. Time limit, switch sides every round. - Neutral Bomb - Single bomb in the middle, both teams have bases. - Griffball This just made me miss Forge mode. Damn some people were talented with that.

I completely agree I understand they want to be different but somthing basic like CTF is what we want. It would be awesome! I was a huge halo player it's like one bomb. I'll play it but really want ctf.

Grifball was a stripped down, faster paced version if assault in a small arena. You got gravity hammers and swords in grifball. Assault let you play normally with your guns. The main grifball-like element is having an actual goal.
