Exploiting (Cheesing) Debate

For all of those who believe that exploits, cheats, boss exploits, (cheese for those who haven't been around long), are wrong in PvE activities, please ask yourself where you got this "logic" from? Below are actual facts about Console Video Games. Fact #1 Of the 21,000+ video games ever created on consoles, how many of those have been "sanitized" of exploits, cheats, etc. for PvE levels, activities, etc.? Answer: Less than 10 Face #2 Since the beginning of Console Gaming (1972), how many publishers and developers as well as Console Manufacturers were okay with exploits in PvE type gameplay? Answer: 99.99%. From the beginning, gamers have found ways to exploit video games, and developers and publishers caught on quickly. Thus, developers started to put codes in many of their games, ranging from infinite health, infinite ammo, and so on. From Nintendo Power's very FIRST issue showcasing codes to CHEAT, to entire magazines being devoted to cheating, like Tips and Tricks, the reality was, EVERYONE believed cheating a game was legitimate and fun. It was there if you wanted it, but if you wanted to play the game legitimately, you could. There were no re-releases of Suepr Mario Bros. 2 because you could get behind Wart, making the end boss a piece of cake, or the 30 man Contra code, or the 100 man trick in Super Mario Bros., or even the Halo tricks in Bungie's own Halo: CE. Yes, EVERYONE embraced exploits, boss cheats, safe spots, and so on, UNITL.... Bungie decided it was wrong. Now, we get lectured like children for "cheating" and the game gets revised over and over, while creating a ton of unintended consequences. All of that WORK on sanitizing the game could have gone into giving gamers more content. For those of you who are fanboys and will respond to this, why bother. You have sold your heart and soul to Bungie and will defend them until the end of time. After all, the majority of those who respond to this will have little to NO experience in Console Video Games, and will have played and finished less than 100 to 200 games, and played probably less than 10 consoles. However, that won't stop many posters from assuming their OPINION is as important as facts. It isn't, and all I've done is used LOGIC and undisputed facts, gleaned from my actual experience. I have played every console released in the US, and also own (183 consoles) every console except the RDI, Laseractive, and Adventurevision. I also own over 5,700+ games and I've finished over 4,000 games. I've simply stated facts, and those facts are undisputable. You may want to argue theoretical bullcrap, but the truth is, those who argue with me more than likely haven't finished a tenth of what I have, much less own what I do. For those individuals, my experience and what I've actually played and know means NOTHING to them, because only their opinion matters, since they view it as TRUTH. But truth isn't relative, and facts really, really do matter. So the last word is this. Bungie is one the wrong side of history, and all who blindly support their Elitist snobbery do not fully understand Video Game Console's history, nor the fact that art is freedom of expression and not a prisoner of thought and expression.

  • Lol. Just because it has been embraced or has become the standard doesn't mean it's right or it shouldn't at least tried to be fixed. By your logic, racism should be allowed to continue because it was historically common and accepted. If bungie wants to go against the trend let them. I see nothing wrong with them trying to make us play the game as they intended. Will they succeed probably not but it's a noble effort to try to make a game where everyone has to put in the same amount of effort to get rewards.
