Above 2.0 kd players, does the thorn need a nerf?
You guys understand pvp. Does it need a nerf? Below 2.0 opinions will be discarded.
edit: please explain your opinion one way or the other. "Yes" is not an effective answer and will not sway any opinions.
Edit 2: I don't have a 2.0. That is why I'm asking for the opinions of my superiors. I'm asking better players with good reason. These guys understand traffic routes, map control, and are always landing headshots. They simply understand the game on a higher level than 98% of the player base and therefore I give their opinion more weight. I'm tired of seeing "NERF THORN" posts coming from some child with a 0.4. That kid can barely play the game, he knows nothing of it.
Edit 3: Here's my opinion, which should be discarded: if thorn gets nerfed tlw will be op. If tlw gets nerfed red death will be op. If red death gets nerfed someone might take a legendary primary into the crucible and exotics won't be exotics.

4 RepliesI think it needs balance, not nerf, like lower mag to 7 shots, make dot not kill only bring down health in pvp, and increase damage falloff not destroy range. The gun doesn't need to be nerfed to the ground

Edited by PsivenJR: 6/8/2015 4:47:03 PMYes, but carefully. I'm on board with the dot falling off after the wielder dies, or just smaller dot damage and it remains as is. It ticks for 7 dmg now. If it ticked for 4 dmg, two head shots would bring someone extremely close to death, but not kill. This means three shots are required for kill, and that would be fair. I mainly want this gun balanced so I don't feel pressured into using it just to counter other thorns.

My K/D was 1.97 on my hunter.. & I don't think thorn needs a nerf. I don't been use it either.

I think k.d is pretty irrelevant here. Because if your not using the best weapons all the time you lose usually because somebody is. If a team of thorns come in at a high skill level and your testing that new red hand you just acquired....forget about it...k.d wrecked...well unless you quit. Not saying it needs a nerf but I feel as tho its a spammed noob weapon and the crutch of most & bad pvp players..

Most high level players I see (34 high grimoire score, and some trials gear) seem to always have Thorn and a long range shotgun, or final round sniper equipped. I think the reason is not that Thorn is good, but rather because it guarantees a kill. For example a blue rocket launcher with one rocket isn't good, but If you hit something with it, whatever you hit Is going to die.

The enemy will need a long time to recover when he decides to hide. And the thorn user cant run off but needs to take action. I have this gun but I don't use this gun myself.

2 RepliesI don't know which side of the fence is worse. The ones calling for a Thorn nerf, or the ones protecting their precious little Thorn. For the record, I got a Thorn, and I do use it, as someone said further down below, not using it puts you at a severe disadvantage. The pro-nerfers either dont have it or aren't as skilled with it so complain about it being too widely used and OP. The anti-nerfers claim to be the elites of the game, but the second you talk about nerfing Thorn they get all defensive about it. Are you as good in the game without Thorn? If so, why do you care if it is nerfed? I stand on the side of nerf it, but carefully. The range and RoF are really the only things that need a nerf in my opinion. I shouldn't be able to cause damage to someone off in the distance sniping with any hand cannon. This is scout rifle territory. So, if you are pro nerf, find a way to counter Thorn. There are several. If you are anti-nerf, is Thorn a crutch to you or can you wield any weapon and get the same volume of kills as you do with the binky known as Thorn?

I believe it does. They can either reduce the hand cannons range in general or make it so the DoT doesn't kill.

4 RepliesI have thorn and my kd probley isn't that good but thorns main rival if you ask me is red death. And with the buffs of all pulse rifles it makes a thorn vs red death very interesting. All of the people I play against either use thorn against me or red death. And more times than not I'm finding it to be red death. And it truly does make it a challenge.

You don't need a thorn for that you can use most weapons its just how you use them :)

The only think the thorn needs is some competition. It takes skill to use thorn the way it is supposed to and takes even more to use TLW. We need more Suros and other exotics/legendaries to close the gap. Possibly change the DOT to like 4 instead of 7 but that's just to shut the haters up. Good players will be able to use it.
