This is going to sound like I'm being a weirdo but I am 18 years old and have been vaping for about a year 1/2. I want to better myself and my parents don't know that I vape, it would break their hearts if they found out. (Really protective)
But I'm more worried about the side effects of when I quit cold turkey. At first I started out at 24mg which is high for most people but I liked it, and I slowly went down to 16, then to 11mg, then 6, then 0. My buddy gave me a hit of his and it was 24mg. So I instantly went to the vape shop and got 24mg again. And that's where I am today.
I am stoping all together vaping and handing it over to my bestfriend (he doesn't vape) and he wants me to quit also. I am just curious to see how many people have experienced crazy or life changing side effects. I'm not to worried it's just a mental mind game, and some physical.
To those of you who stopped smoking or vaping, what was it like?

Good on you, sir.

I'm trying to quit right now but my workplace is filled with smokers. It's difficult trying not to smoke when everyone around you is smoking. It helps me when I consciously recognize the reason I have so many cigarettes through the day: all the smokers around me. Usually it's kind of a sub conscious action to light up when you're in conversation with someone who has one. I just think to myself constantly, "you only want one because he has one." This usually helps.

2 RepliesEdited by DukeOfStuffing: 6/5/2015 9:13:53 PMMost people I know that vaped heavy didn't have any serious side effects. You may feel like death for a day or two, but it is nothing like quitting smoking. 0mg is best, anyway. The nicotine makes it taste like butt.

Switch to vaporized cannabis, it helps break addictions. Plus, it's actually beneficial unlike nicotine.

I smoked for 4 years then when I was 19 I stopped for about five months then went back into it shortly after turning 20. And I just quit again with tomorrow being 3 weeks and my hardest time with it is when I'm out in public with my smoker friends. I don't think it's too hard when you haven't built a 39 year addiction to it or something. If you have discipline and will power then in sure you can do it! If you get pulled back in just try again like how I am, you'll break the habit buddy

Lol, you're fine dude, you might get nic withdrawals. I used vaping to quit chewing tobacco because the actually activity was harder to let go than the nicotine.

2 RepliesDude. A 1/2 year should be no problem. The physical addiction lasts about 72 hours dependent on you (assuming your talking nicotine and not dabs). The rest is mental habit. For instance, I have smoked most of my life, I know smoking more than I know not smoking. I started when I was in the 5th grade like a -blam!-ing idiot. I can break the physical addiction very easily. Then starts the hard part. The longer you do it the longer the hard part will last. I would wake up having nightmares when I stopped smoking (they lasted the entire 5 years I didn't smoke). So if you want to quit, do it now and don't look back. Other wise 10 years from now you will want to quit but your body habit and movements will be hard wired in and next to impossible to change. Habits start as cobwebs and after years will harden into heavy steal cable.

In my opinion, cold turkey will work best. It completely depends on the person's willpower, so if you think you can succeed, you will. Hopefully.

Of all the smokers I've known that have tried to quit, the ones that went "cold turkey" succeeded. Any other method (be it tapering off, gum, patch, vaporizers, or pills) went back to smoking. I have never smoked, but this is from experience personally knowing these people. Granted it's a small number (about 50) when compared to large studies, but I hope it helps and you are able to kick the habit.

5 RepliesI smoke. Wouldn't dare touch those E-cig things. At least I know what horrible shiit inside my cig is and what it's doing.
-
Well I've never done anything like that (1. Because I don't think it's good for you and it can really mess up your body, and 2 because I am on a good road for a kid in a school where people do that stuff all the time but I have helped a lot of people quit and now they are doing a lot better in school and stuff. Ok ima stop talking now and good luck to you it's good you've decided to quit

Please stick to your promise. It's not worth throwing money away just to get sick.

I've never owned a vape, but I imagine that it will be a pretty good feeling have balls back between your legs once you stop.
