Adding gloss that changes color based on time and the amount of force applied to the ball while altering the parameters that govern its physics is probably half a days work, probably more because of sandbox testing and the like.
Half a days work that could have gone into designing shaders and armor varieties and other extremely simple stuff (because they have an entire engine made for that).
And that's being nice. They could have redesigned the damn thing from scratch and it taken much longer.

If it took half a day's work, then it could have easily just been done in someone's free time. How do you know that wasn't the case? Again, back to my original point. You're assuming that this took away from developing something else. That's stupid. Do you really think they said, well we could fix a glitch in the raid, but today, I just want everyone to stop what they're doing and work on the ball today. It's just ridiculous. Should they just not include the small updates when they make them because they aren't a part of the bigger picture? When you write a paper, should you not fix your grammar along the way even though you haven't done your larger revisions?

Ok, look, you're in construction or something, I get it. You know what goes into making a change like this? 1- Lead dev ops brainstorm it 2- Graphics team actually creates it graphically 3- Programmers create it 4-Programmers go back to graphics team and make sure it lives up to expectations 5-Programmers go back and make changes 6-Ball goes in sandbox to make sure it doesn't break the environment 7-System analysts add it to compiler/patch system and install it Step 3 took half a day.. And no, I even said I think they should make tons of small updates. I just don't think it should be improving already worthless items. I think it should be making you feel more unique, or making the world feel more diverse. Instead, we improve the purple ball in the tower.

Your steps are way off. And step 3 does not take 1 1/2 days you dip. Bungie has a tool called gagnox which makes something like a purple ball being programmed done in about 1 hour. So stop talking "facts" when you have no idea what you're talking about. This probably involved 1-3 devs in about 2-3 hours of free time.

Gagnox is a graphics tool, it would NOT handle the logic for the interactivity of the light.
