I personally, for several reasons do not want the addition of vault space! Among other things, I feel like gun hoarding every purple and exotic you come across can make the game feel like a trophy hunt. I think that with the way the space is now, it forces us more veteran players to make tough choices on what is worth keeping around. Now this seems to be a really unpopular idea, as everyone seems to demand vault space, but is there anyone out there that agrees with me?
Edit: So far the opposition is huge! I was expecting something like this but you guys sure feel strongly about this!
Edit2: The overwhelming consensus is that I am really really wrong on this. I appreciate the comments, and if the added space will improve some people's gaming then I can't be mad about it!
Edit3: Looks like I lost

Part of what makes Destiny fun for me is the fact that I am trying to collect things, so the more space the better.

2 RepliesI used to have an issue with vault space but since we can use the app to transfer I don't have any issues anymore

9 RepliesEdited by GeorgiaSnowman: 3/14/2015 1:44:42 AMIf you need space, you're doing something wrong.. I have every raid weapon from VoG and CE (minus light of the Abyss and the CE auto rifle) and all exotics (even duplicates or some) minus Suros, thunderlord and hard light. I have countless maxed legendary weapons (some 300 and A LOT of 331). I even have some green and blue weapons (for their PvP implications) and still have space.. Idk what I'm doing right, or what you all are doing wrong, but it's working for me!

1 ReplyThank you for edit 2. Not many people and see the error in their ways. Good gaming guardian.

Why wouldn't I want space? Even if I didn't care, I'd still rather have more vault space
-
The game is a trophy hunt....... Grimoire score for example.
-
Having more space wont affect other players that dont need them.
-
Yeah, I don't understand why anyone wouldn't want more vault space. An RNG based loot game is SUPPOSED to feel like a trophy hunt in some respects.
-
I like your idea, but I also like having my story for every gun. I got No Land Beyond from Xur, for example, and used it to solo Valus "Rockets" McDickface on the nightfall later that evening. I got my Thorn after begrudgingly entering the crucible for the first time and discovering that my void fusion rifle and voidwalker abilities make for an epic combo. I got my Gjallahorn in my imagination along with the Vex. I haven't used them yet since they're too mainstream... All joking aside, it's fun to keep guns around in order to make stories for them.

Nothing wrong with a trophy hunt, its up to you as a player if you want to collect or not, it doesnt negativily affect you. If any, it makes people spend even more time in the game, and obviously, Bungie would like that. I make it a sport to collect all raid gear (vog and ce), iron banner and exotics and soon need to find something else to collect. And i make sure to level it all. Its how i like to play the game, and i think it should be supported not punished because of the extra gametime it generates.

Edited by o0 eep 0o: 3/14/2015 1:05:09 AMConsidering that what you own in a game is basically a txt doc numbering in the tens of kilobytes. Attached to a UI to display that info. Limiting inventory has no Benefit and is an easy thing to change. Or at least has been in the last 23 years of fps gaming and modding of those games. So unless bungie created some super non intuitive coding system, that's really really hard to edit. This should have been a simple small patch.

2 RepliesYou don't want vault space because why? Maybe if you had warlock instead of 2 Titans you would need it. Your probably the only moron who says no to more vault space.
-
4 RepliesYou appear to be making an argument for artificial scarcity. It seems like you are saying, "I prefer to be fooled into seeing the weapons as more valuable than they are." I would rather have choice over being fooled any day.

Edited by Ewathi: 3/14/2015 12:53:49 AMUnless it's an exotic that I'm not sure has a current use for me (NLB - I'm looking at you) very little of my vault space is taken up by something that doesn't see regular use or for planning in case Bungie changes something without telling us enough ahead of time to level up new appropriate weapons. I regularly roll with each character having a minimum of 7 primary weapons, 8 secondary, and 7 heavy. My vault has a single space in it. Here's how I break it down: Every character has a 331 primary in each damage type, a PvE rolled Timur's Lash, oracle damage, primary exotic, and a scout rifle geared for a slow party clear in CE lamps (AP/Explosive with outlaw and firefly) Every character has a 331 IB, a Murmer, void FR, void shotgun for VoG, arc/solar shotgun rolled for PvP, and arc and void sniper. Every character has an MG and RC of each damage type, along with a Thunderlord, SGA, and DB. That means I generally have 1-2 slots open for loot, and little ability to just "hold things" on any character. This means that my vault has to hold all of the possible swap outs because of exotic limits and bounties. For instance there are 9 slots in my vault that hold my current best 331 items for Iron Banner. I'm not hoarding Timur's Lashes - all 4 of mine have specific rolls, and roles, that allow them to do specific jobs. I use all 4 every week. I have a maxed out PvP weapon of every primary - because Bungie doesn't seem in the business of telling us what they are going to do with the headshot bounty in IB. That means when they spring some change on us the morning that IB starts I won't have to search for a replacement and waste time and glimmer maxxing it out in a day to compete. I don't hoard. I only keep the weapons that have specific advantages for parts of the game that I actively play. If you don't run full vault when you have 3 characters at endgame with full inventories because you bring the needed hardware to the party you are either a much much better player then I am, or you are just not as prepared to maximize your damage as you should be.
-
3 RepliesYou mean the anti-farming limited plays per week was not an indication that this game is a constant trophy hunt? I thought it was abundantly clear that's what this was.
-
Why would someone vote for no more vault space?
-
I need more space to pointlessly hoard all the things!!
-
1 ReplyI'm not gonna lie, I could care less about more or less space. I don't really use my vault. If I get a gun or armor that I don't like, I'm usually gonna dismantle it.
-
I can't even hold all of my exotics in the vault.
-
I'm not interested in collecting all exotics, but more vault space can never be a bad thing in my opinion.
-
We need vault space. If you collect all exotics weapon on PS you pretty much filled your entire vault. You should be able to keep a few more items than just exotics. Otherwisw something is wrong.
-
Sigh why would you even post this?
-
4 RepliesYou bring great shame to other wolf lovers.
-
The promise of added vault space is the only reason I'm still playing. The game is all about loot.
