Why did YOU quit Destiny?
I quit because, well...
•Repetition
•RNG
•Lack of Story
•Lack of Content
•Bad Servers
•Bad (although slightly amusing) Community
•Lack of Attention to Players (Bungie)
•DeeJ Sugarcoats
•RNG
•Repetition
EDIT:
•9-0 Trials Elitists
•Maxed Out Elitists
•Gjallarhorn Elitists
•All of those types of Elitists put into one Elitist type
•Too many complaints
•RNG
•Repetition
•Cut Content for Players w/out DLCs
•Lack of Optional Matchmaking
•Lack of End-Game Content
•Lack of Vault Space
•Lack of Inventory Space
•Lack of Player Customization
•Lack of Optional Matchmaking
•And of course the GRIND!
Hint hint that means RNG and Repetition!
EDIT: Thanks for the 700+ comments! Oh, and to those start posting hate comments, all you're doing is bumping the post. So thanks to you, too!
EDIT: I did a complete makeover of the thread due to misunderstanding. This is NOT a RANT THREAD or a TROLL/ATTENTION THREAD, but rather a feedback post. Read below if you don't understand.
For those of you who don't understand:
This is the feedback forum. I'm sure Bungie would like to know why players are leaving their game.
EDIT: I have mostly quit Destiny, anyways. 90% of the endgame activities are locked out from me because I:
•Don't have a Gjallarhorn
•Am not lv34
•Have an old gen system
•Have no friends who will willingly play Destiny
So I can only do content with matchmaking.

So I can only do content with MATCHMAKING.

EDIT: 1200 comments! Hoorah!
EDIT: Here are the best ones so far
This:
There is no way to earn the Digital Collector’s bonus items for those who already own Destiny, short of buying the entire game again for $80. This means that someone who hasn’t played any Destiny can come into The Taken King with a class item that speeds their own progression, three new unattainable emotes, and three unique shaders while those who have been around since Day 1 would have to shell out the big bucks if they wanted to enjoy the same luxuries.
Yes, they get the Founder’s set, which is a thoughtful gesture – but it’s an incomplete one. There is absolutely zero reason for Bungie to withhold anything from its most dedicated Destiny fans, and anything short of offering full access to the new stuff for a price that doesn’t include re-buying the game is at best a seriously disappointing miscalculation, and at worst a cynical grab at more money.
Who would truly appreciate three unique shaders? Who has been clamoring for more personality in the form of emotes? Who would die for the ability to speed up the grind with new XP Class items? Bungie is acting like they don’t know. The answer, is Destiny’s current players, who are vocal about their desires and do not wish to pay $80 for a few digital items.
It’s in the labeling, too: the “Collector’s” Edition. Destiny is, in itself, a game of collection. A lot of its players have been spending the better parts of their weeks for the past year amassing a collection of weapons, armor, sparrows, emblems, shaders, and class items to be proud of. And now, unless they have $80 to spend, their collection will be incomplete. The name is bait, and it’s frustrating to have to purposefully not rise to it.
And who’s most likely willing to bite the bullet and purchase the Collector’s Edition, anyway? Is it a new player? No. Someone who is tentatively reaching out to explore a franchise they’re unfamiliar with is generally not going to commit to the most expensive version of that game. The Collector’s Edition ensnares players who already have most of it, but have got to have it all.
It’s so important for a game like Destiny to be able to attract new players. They breathe new life into the community, and are instrumental in helping to sustain the growth of a massive franchise like Destiny. The Taken King and its Collector’s Edition are certainly jam-packed with enough stuff to entice them in droves.
Unfortunately, it’s the veterans that are getting left out. Whether or not a longtime Destiny player gets a suitable thank-you gift means nothing for the bottom line, but when they don’t, discontent is not far behind. The last thing Bungie wants is for its biggest fans to feel slighted, and judging by the collective reaction to the pre-order packages, it’s safe to say that many do.
Bungie needs to evaluate how important it is to withhold exclusives for those who are paying for the Collector’s Edition. It would be extremely easy to include the emotes, shaders, and class items with the VIP Founders package, free of charge – or even sell them for $4.99, etc. This would be the perfect way to reconcile the mammoth deficit of $40 that it would require to get a chance at the Collector’s Edition content, and would confirm that Bungie feels there’s nothing that its faithful don’t deserve access to.
The Taken King doesn’t have to do much to have a better reception than The Dark Below, but in announcing its availability and pricing, Bungie has already made a step in the wrong direction.
Fortunately, the ship could be easily righted, if Bungie proves that they do indeed listen to their community and understand their needs. Looking ahead to growing the playerbase is fine, but right now, Destiny’s current community needs to feel supported by Destiny.”

The millions of bad decisions made by Activision and bungie!! TTK prices, red bull crap, Mr smith, crappy servers, need I go on?

5 RepliesThis is kind of hypocritical

Not quitting, but I think I'm gonna take my first major break from destiny. Just not enough content from HoW to keep me engaged anymore... Will be splitting time with the witcher 3 and ffx hd ps4, although since ffx appears to be bugged with no patch in sight, mostly witcher lol
-
They didn't have matchmaking for the stuff I wanted to play.

Edited by Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 6/29/2015 11:30:33 PMI didn't quit. I just take breaks because there is not enough varied PvE content to completely or even semi regularly play the entire time between add ons.

Bump i even canceled my pre order

2 RepliesEdited by Pack93z: 6/24/2015 2:30:53 PMBecause at this point I have been lazy, too lazy to find another title to blow off the days steam with that I can continue to build upon. Basically, I haven't taken the time to find a replacement.. haven't stopped by the video store to check out the latest titles. Most games to date on the PS4 (up to say March of this year) were very limited in replay-ability. That is why I haven't quit yet... but I certainly am going to invest time in alternatives as I don't see the ability of this franchise to stabilize. To me, with all the confusion rollout after rollout, it seems pretty clear that there is conflict between the studio (bungie) and the investor (activision). Cutting content.. pricing issues, inability to deliver content (HoW raid), long term employees departing mid project, etc. Do I see this making the 10 year plan.. doubtful at this point. They can't seem to do anything without a clumsiness to it. This Redbull promotion seems pretty tight so far, but the 7/11 store limitations / exclusive rollout is just waiting there to become an issue.

I'm starting to play other games. There are too many other games out there that are more fun than Destiny. And between now and the Taken King I don't think that will change. Considering I'm a story guy, the fact I stayed this long surprises me.

Everything you mentioned with special emphasis on all kinds of elitists, repetitious and meaningless grinding (not look h forward to leveling my gear all over again). Except matchmaking. I don't have a problem with no matchmaking.

Because I didn't have the patience and time.
Exotic pun
This is basically EXACTLY why I quit, and at about the same time: http://kotaku.com/five-months-in-hardcore-destiny-players-are-hitting-a-1684813586 The author subsequently came back for HoW and felt that it had redeeming qualities. I decided not to even try it, despite owning it because I foolishly bought the Digital Guardian Edition at launch. I've decided that I do not care for Bungie's approach to marketing (Destiny didn't come close to living up to the expectations it set for itself), managing its community (terrible communication) or keeping players playing (massive repetition, manipulative progression systems). It's brazenly, almost openly manipulative of its players, and if I enjoyed that sort of thing I'd be a sucker.

Pvp weapon balance. Basically they ignore the user. Loved the game but pvp was all i enjoyed. Servers blow and weapons are ridiculous right now. No hot fixes for anything worth a shyt. Not much of a pve person but i can say confidently we both are ignored.

1 ReplyI play because my friends enjoy it. When that day ends, so will my days in destiny.

I threw money at my screen and broke my TV...all I had was $60 in quarters at the time.

I just hit a wall yesterday. Destiny suddenly became boring. After banging out the nightfalls and getting absolutely nothing of worth and then cracking a POE and getting absolutely nothing; I was thinking "what's the point". I honestly don't feel any achievement in playing this game anymore. The lust for some of the exotics used to make me keep on playing in hope but I've now excepted that I will probably never get some of them. So I think I'll move on and just wait and see what TTK is like and how it's received by the community. Fingers crossed this game bounces back because it had all the potential to be an amazing game.

No in game options for matchmaking. PoE level 32 and 33 and Nightfall at least. Poor balance of rewards for "end game" activities. Tired of the cryptic replies and statements regarding any upcoming changes. The arrogant replies from Bungie to its community about issues that are obviously important to us.
