Kill to death ratio. If you have 5 kills to 10 deaths, you will have a kill death ratio of 0.5. This is not negative, as kdr is a ratio of two positive integer values.
It may be convention to say negative kdr, but if you do you are ignorant.
Edit 1: You people are terrible at math.
Edit 2: You people are terrible at spelling, too. You must be mostly American.

When people say you have a negative KDR, they're probably talking about how a less than 1 KDR translates into a negative kill/death SPREAD. Using your example, they have a -5 spread.

Please don't start the country arguements again, (I forgot how to spell) I spent my time, I fought my wars, let it be done!

1 ReplyOnly way to determine a negative is find your base number. In this case the base number is 1(neutral) so if you get a number higher than 1 (e.g. 1.50) than it is positive. If it is lower (e.g. .50) than it is negative. As long as you know your base number than you can determine if you are negative, positive or neutral. You see how that works?

This post is totally necessary and changes everything. I give it a positive 10/10.

After reading edit 2 i have no respect for this guy whatsoever

he said convention lol

1 ReplyThis post is so educational. It's batting a thousand with 110% effort.

2 RepliesActually you're the idiot, everyone talks about their "KD," not "KDR." KD is short for kill/death spread which can be talked about as positive/negative/even.
-
1 ReplyLol are you real? 5 kills -10 deaths is guess what -5 wow
-
1 ReplySilly person, its not kill/death its Kraft Dinner Ratio
-
I think they mostly say negative KD. Not KDR, which is fair to say negative.
-
1 ReplySpeaking in terms of first person shooters... Saying that someone has a negative KDR when it is at a 0.5 or so (anything less than 1) means that they have more deaths than kills, or as they like to put it, a negative kdr. Technically it should just be a negative KR (kill ratio) but since the common display is typically KDR, the language has adapted to it.

People who talk about k/d ratio at all are morons. Well, maybe that's harsh, but I couldn't care less about K/D ratios on anyone, myself included. Statistics in Destiny or any other video game are pointless. As long as I'm having fun, who gives a craps about k/d and the like.

4 RepliesNegative KD relative to score. Let's say a kill is worth 100 points. If you go 5-10 you scored 500 points and gave up 1000. That's a net negative of 500 points. Thus yes your KD is negative.

Being American makes you neither dumb nor illiterate. However, being an idiot is a transcendent state that surpasses all other forms of identification and they deserve to be acknowledged as such. In other words morons are universal you twat!
-
You probably finish negative each game so the word bothers you.

1 ReplyNobody cares that much about being mathematically correct. If you care that much about math, do us a favor, quit destiny, study math, and become a math teacher. Somebody might listen to your B.S. then, but i still doubt it.

Negative kill death spread was what people used back in the halo days. That actually made sense haha

Edited by NinjaCoby: 12/7/2014 9:11:54 AMWhat I see and don't care what others KD is unless that try to be superior over me is that if your Kills are less then deaths for almost every game you are not that great at killing people and should not attempt it in real life. But you could still be good at objectives while your natural killer teammates protect you. People should just know "Negative KD" means you don't have to worry about that player trying to kill you in real life. Don't use "You have a negative KD" as an insult because it really is a blessing for you. http://www.bungie.net/en/Profile/254/4591637

I try to factor assists before I judge. But that's just me.

4 RepliesThe reference to being negative or positive doesn't come from the ratio itself but rather its effects on the game score. Having a negative value means you help the opposing team more than you helped you're team, and you had a net negative point value for your team.

6 RepliesEdited by Ensley2913: 12/7/2014 7:51:43 AMYou have created a false argument just to make an irrelevant straw man. The accepted term is "K/D", meaning "Kill/Death". If you go 5 and 10, you went "negative" in the "K/D". Nobody says "KDR"

1 ReplyUuuh, someone discovered maths for himself! Feeling brave enough for logics, too? For a K/D below 1, you have to get a negative K/D SPREAD most of the time. That's why we say "negative K/D". We have the spread in mind. This isn't maths, it's LANGUAGE. You just made yourself look funny, dude.
