So, I've been really quiet up until now... But I feel that my voice needs to be heard and that I should give you all my point of view on the game now that I've completed everything the game has to offer(so far) (except the vault of glass on level 30 difficulty) First I'd like you all to know that I am not here to "bash" or "troll" or any of that... I am simply stating what I have experienced and how I feel about the game. I also suffer from Dyslexia, so please excuse my Grammar... I try my best. I love to see all the feedback and I'd like to talk to some of you about what you think of the game! <3 [u][b]So, Lets get started with how Bungie marketed Destiny![/b][/u] Bungie Marketed Destiny as a "Spen World Shooter" Instead of just calling it an MMO, Smart move.. The game has many MANY MMORPG mechanics, but none of the KEY mechanics... But I'll get into that later... The game being called a "Shared World Shooter" Also fits.. It fits how the game feels.. But just how SHARED is the world of destiny? Ya.. You run into people every now and then.. But there is no interaction.. Ya, you might complete an objective together... But there's no way to interact with each-other, other then hand gestures and silly dances... You cant communicate with anyone outside your fireteam.. You cant even share loot with the people that are ON your fireteam.. So just how shared is destiny? It all just makes me feel like I'm playing darksouls.. Next, The game is marketed as "Open World" This in particular urks me... Bungie used mirrors and tricks they used in the making of Halo, All destiny is, is a wide open hallway shooter.. For those of you who do not know what a hallway shooter is, basically the developers control you're progression through missions by making a set path... For example, Dead space... You play the whole game with a clear path, no wide open spaces, no choices to make (in most cases) All Bungie did was use cliffs, buildings and soft kill walls to keep you in the maps which are all jsut big circles.. Having the freedom to move around freely in this environment does NOT make Destiny "Open world" I feel as though I should be able to explore whats just over those hills.. I should be able to see all the beautiful work the art department made... The sky-boxes are beautiful.. the landscape is beautiful.. But I'm stuck in this cage.. Detached from the world of destiny, Leaving me wanting more... Bungie also marketed Destiny with things like "Become legion" and "We want players to be able to customize how they look!" But after level 20, I have little to no control on how I look... All because I am forced into hording the armor with the most light so I can reach level 30... as well as you can only wear 1 exotic piece of armor at any given time... It makes me wish the game had a "Wardrobe" slot for my armor so I could look the way I want to look... Bungie also stated things like "You'll see people with guns like: (insert exotic weapon name here) and you'll know what they did to get it!" I don't feel that.. You ether do some exotic bounty for it.. or you buy it from the black market... Or better yet... You suck golf balls in PVP and get rewarded with purples and yellows... In all honesty... the only thing I have that "Oh man.. that guy went through shit to get that item.." is the chatterwire shader you get from the vault of glass or the Exp buff from doing the weekly nightfall... On-top of the fact that you cant look the way you want after level 20, Bungie also released statements that ran along the lines of: "The game starts at level 20" or "The game is completely different after level 20"... It was something like that... Well... The only things I see after level 20, are Nightfall strikes, the vault of glass and the Queens wrath... The only REAL thing that changes, is the fact that I have to now grind five times as hard and I'm stuck with the same missions and the same strikes, (which Playstation gets exclusive strikes and missions as I recall...) And if I play the game alone (I don't actually play alone) Then I wont even be able to do nightfall strikes or the vault of glass.. (though I honestly am glad nether has matchmaking) [u]I may return to marketing later, as for now I want to get into the actual game itself![/u] Okay, so the game... Beautiful.. Stunning... Amazing artwork... But what the BLAM is going on!? The only info we get is from the starting cut-scene, explaining the golden age... Then we get the speaker saying things like "Oh... I could tell you... but I wont... TROLOLOL!" You'r basically brought back to life, no questions asked.. then made to kill things for the next... 6 hours? Were little to nothing is explained to you... seriously.. What if my exo hunter was homish before they died? then this robotic.. ghost.. brings me back to life!? I have questions you know bungie.. Like.. why does Venus have orange soda rivers!? Why is the only dance my exo knows, the robot?! None of the questions we all have are answered in the game.. The "story-line" is about 5 missions.. that ends abruptly and seem more like a weekend trip then a quest to kill "The Darkness" And afterword.. you have even MORE questions... like.. is the stranger a Time Lord!? Do Radios/Com uplinks not exist in the future? My Ghost seemed pretty curious when the stranger started talking to herself... Anyway.. Back on topic.. The "story-line" seemed more like a side mission then anything.. and all the other missions were ether side missions or missions prepping you for future PAYED content... You are then forced to grind the same 5 strikes and the same missions over and over again.. on-top of that.. there are STUPID bounties that make you replay the missions and strikes even MORE! Playing missions and strikes feel more like a chore then anything now... I've grown to hate every mission and strike.. and im sure I'm not the only one... On-top of having to do chores on a video game.. you are then NEVER rewarded... You never get so much as a pat on the back.. Loot is ALWAYS random.. even when you have purple engrams.. it seems like the cryptarch ALWAYS bends you over and says "Bite the pillow... I'm going in dry... I am well aware of Bungie's "10 year plan" for destiny.. I know there are expansions coming.. But the game feels butchered.. and I feel conflicted.. not knowing weather it was Bungie's fault.. or Activision's.. Destiny isn't just some cow you can cut up and sell parts to us individual.. We hunger for a story.. its what Bungie is known for.. but Destiny just leaves you wanting more.. WISHING for more.. But there is none.. and it doesn't help that there are SO many exclusives to the Playstation... it limits the content even further for Xbox users... I find myself going to sleep every night, wishing, hoping... praying.. that when I wake up, theres more.. interesting content... I want Bungie to jump out and say "Surprise! We got you! This isnt the full game... Here it is!" but Bungie is quiet.. they loom over us fixing things that quite honestly.. don't NEED to be fixed... such as being able to push people around when they aren't in your fireteam.. REALLY!? you had to fix that.. of all things... -facepalms- I just.. I feel my hope and attention slipping away from destiny... 60$ for 1/4th of a game... [u][b]What I personally would like to see in the game (these may change later) Give me feedback on these as well! :D[/b][/u] 1: Weekly Dev made missions... The game has the mechanics for a range of missions.. let the devs make their own and then throw them into the world of destiny.. you have all these unused spaces.. use them.. maybe make a mission.. but backwards through sky-watch or somthing.. 2: Trading!! I cant stress this enough.... 3: Wardrobe slots for armor! 4: Space lube, so when the Cryptarch bends me over I dont have to walk funny for a week. :P 5: Local chat so that you can actually feel more connected to the world and the players in it! <3 6: More coming soon! :D -EDIT- Thank you all for you're support! Remember, This thread isnt me bashing on destiny.. its me looking at the game for what it is.. and what it could/can be... I love bungie.. I love destiny.. I love halo, crimson skies, and all the games they have made! The feedback makes me really want to put some effort into making this thread, perhaps ill come back when I am less tired and refine it and add a few things!
