Anyone else think Devi's Lair is ridiculous?
I played the Devil's Lair co-op match-made mission yesterday with a friend and a third person the game found and it took us an hour and 35 minutes to complete it, and this was on Normal. I shutter to to think what it would have been like on Hard.
I do not want match-made games that last an hour and a half and consist mostly of tedium as we fire a gazillon rounds into some giant tank thingy or some floating ball thingy trying to wear it down one bullet at a time.
Those kinds of enemies make sense for public events where there can be a dozen or more people working to take something down, but three people against such enemies is a joke.
Is there something I'm missing here? If this were not the beta and people could rank up higher than 8 would we have the firepower to take down these uber enemies in an acceptable amount of time?

I've beaten the Strike on hard like 10 times. It's really quick and easy. I don't understand how your having so much trouble.

It takes less than 30 mins for most of us on hard at lv 8. You gotta skip the first part in the rocket yards

It's possible to do this strike in 30 minutes if you really work together.

I do see your point though I enjoy the grind of the Lair; 'tis a strike after all (though it only took me 40 or so minutes). It was meant to be that way in the least. Even so, this means that the raids in Destiny are going to be insane! The only problem is going to be the amount of time on our hands :)

Edited by Deloi: 7/26/2014 1:41:14 PM... sorry but you and your friends were either realy under equipped (a common thing on your first run) or realy bad at the game (perhaps you missed the weak points on the bosses? Or/and didnt do headshots on the normal mobs?). I can run trough several instances of that strike on the harder setting in a hour (grinding) and im not some high rank or anything.

Don't know how good you and your party were but I ended up doing it in 35 minutes. You just have to play it safe and know what you're doing.

Forgive me for saying so, but if you all you have to say in a reply is to tell me how little time it took you then you're kind of a jerk. Thanks to the people who offered tips, but the other 95% need to grow up. If you have no useful suggestions, why bother responding? To feed your ego? I'm kind of amazed by the number of people who think all the strategies needed to complete something like this is a short time are obvious, or that when you're playing with other people they're going to work with you and play smart. Several people said to shoot it in the legs. I do, because I shot it in lots of places and noticed where I get the most damage, but others may not, so I might be the only one shooting a given let. I've played it with two randoms and with a friend and one random. It was never fast. The time I did it with the two randoms it took so long one of them quit. Some people die a lot, and if they're not in a place where they can be revived they're not helping until they respawn. Some people seem to spend a good bit of time waiting to respawn, which is soooo not helpful.

Once I was matched up with a great team and we completed it in about 30 minutes but another time both my teammate had to leave and I completed it by myself in about 1 hour 45 minutes.

I did it in less than 30min on lvl 8 me and my bro just wanted to kill time before iron banner. If it take that long your doing something wrong.

You need better gear and mor practice. I did it with only two guardians. I was at lvl six, my clan mate was a well geared eight. Our third never came in. We finished it in 20, 25 minutes with a couple of wipes. This was my second character. I had run Devils Lair 4 times before this run. Take your time and gear up, learn the battles. Good luck and good hunting. Ps. My first time in there I wiped six or seven times, made it through in 30 min.

Edited by SomeGh0st: 7/26/2014 1:31:10 PMI soloed the lvl 8 version and cleared it about 30 times overall, just use auto-rifle, sniper and LMG and shoot at the legs, it doesn't take that long to blow up a leg with full auto weapons. and every leg is 5k damage plus whatever you can get out of the vulnerable state which is usually another couple thousands with 1k a shot from sniper. the only dificult part is once you got 4 legs down since you need a 5th and the back legs are hard to hit when solo but you can do it by shooting between it's front legs(under him) to hit the interior of the hind legs. Also keep killing the little drones for ammo, let them come to you so the pickup is safe.

in fairness my first run through of devils lair took about 45mins to and hour but by the sounds of it my kit is under par. only have about 130 defence and a 50 damage weapon.

14 RepliesThough this may sound weird Lol but I've being playing on both systems n no joke for some reason we found it so much easier on the xbox , I no I no sounds silly but wee all have played it n we all think the same. Me personally I've found it a lot harder on the ps4 to a point were I've only done it once on hard on the ps4 so we all went back to Xbox n grind it there as it a lot easier in r eyes. Or me n the lads could just all b crazy lol

You've got awful gear, that's probably why it's taking so long. At level 8 you should have the highest damage dealers available to us (62, upgraded). Instead you have a 26. See the problem?
