I played the Devil's Lair co-op match-made mission yesterday with a friend and a third person the game found and it took us an hour and 35 minutes to complete it, and this was on Normal. I shutter to to think what it would have been like on Hard.
I do not want match-made games that last an hour and a half and consist mostly of tedium as we fire a gazillon rounds into some giant tank thingy or some floating ball thingy trying to wear it down one bullet at a time.
Those kinds of enemies make sense for public events where there can be a dozen or more people working to take something down, but three people against such enemies is a joke.
Is there something I'm missing here? If this were not the beta and people could rank up higher than 8 would we have the firepower to take down these uber enemies in an acceptable amount of time?

Me and a team of randoms beat it in 15 minutes on "normal lvl8". Git gud

Man up, candy ass. I completed it on hard without a proper fire team. You're not gonna make it past the first wave on an actual RAID!

Edited by Silent: 7/26/2014 5:05:33 PMIf the team is aware that to prevent wipes at least one guardian needs to be standing AT ALL TIMES (yes even if that means letting the others bleed out occasionally and respawn), then the strike can go rather quickly. I can't tell you how many times well intentioned randoms got themselves killed just to rez me thus forcing us to start a segment over and lose progress on whatever boss (mesh hack, devil tank, Sepiks). I can only be so mad at them, they were trying to help me! But yeah that can definitely makes for long strikes in my experience so far.

Is this your first time playing a video game? Because you are complaining like it is
-
Edited by LoneWolfRei: 7/26/2014 5:04:12 PMThe lair is too damn easy!! There are plenty of places to hide while you fight the Devil Walker that give you cover while you have a clear line of sight at his weak points. Sepkis is even easier!!
-
I've played it twice over the last day or so. It took about 30 minutes each time. Not sure why it would take that long.
-
Most people are right when they say tactics are key, finding weak spots etc flanking works well just remember you know when you are hitting the soft spot as your hit damage is no longer white. I think it's orange for a critical. Just keep chipping away I have taken down a devil walker solo out side if that mission but still in the same place. took me 20mins but I did have a kicksass rocket launcher and 2 extra special ammo packs and one extra secondary ammo was basically playing peek a boo be hind a pillar lol.( don't like the 5 min cool down or the ammo packs ) I did record the last bit on my xbox 1 and posted it on my you tube channel and gamer tag. But I presumed it was easier to kill as I was alone? Do these things scale in health, depending on how many guardians are about? Sinicorp.

Had the same happen last night. It was about the 3rd or 4th time I have done the mission. It was super tough all of a sudden.
-
Edited by Bléed: 7/26/2014 4:38:31 PMTook my team and I 14 minutes exactly... We were all maxed out mind you, on hard difficulty as well. This was the entire strike time... not just on the blasted Devil Walker
-
Me and a buddy do it in about 20 minutes on normal.. 30 minutes on hard. Something is wrong there.
-
I can solo it in a half hour or so. You are doing it wrong
-
I think the fastest time I did it in was 24 minutes.
-
Pretty sure I've completed it in half that amount of time... That seems a bit too long lol.
-
Yes. I think you answered your own question. I think what most people are missing are that these so called mega bosses are OP for us, but that is looking at it right now. Our characters feel strong so we should be able to take them out much easier. But we must grow. Imagine: beyond our level cap, being able to take down a devil walker with one or two grenades and walk on by. Imagine the bosses we will face then..

Edited by grimma_stormborn: 7/26/2014 3:52:36 PMthis is only first easiest strike in the game, if you have troubles with that, try to imagine endgame 6 man raids ( I can't wait for it personally)
-
I've played it a few times. Easy to me. You need to do something different.
-
One thing I would definitely recommend is proper teamwork. Solid communication and spreading out to avoid group damage is definitely helpful as the last two boss fights can definitely end quickly if your standing together. Doing research on the fights beforehand can be helpful as well unless you want to do it live.

1 ReplyDespite Bungie's statements that Destiny is not an MMO, I like to use MMO terms to explain some of the things. For example, Devil's Lair is more of a raid, while the campaign missions are more like dungeons. A raid takes far more skill and effort than the lesser dungeons to complete. That being said, comparing it to WoW, a raid takes lots of gear minmaxing, micromanagement, and co-ordination to take down, while Devil's Lair can be done with level 6's. I know, I've done it with 3 level 6 members in my fireteam. All that it really comes down to is skill, and knowing how to take the tank down.

2 RepliesAdjust your tactics guardian. Make sure you are taking out the armored legs of the Devil Walker to bring it down. Once you do, pour your heavy and special ammo into it's brain. If everyone on your team is doing this, that encounter should only take 10 minutes or so.
-
Then you guys just suck, it takes about 30 mins tops for me
-
Using right weapons and/or decent leveled weapons?
-
Edited by GalaxySpider: 7/26/2014 3:56:19 PMYes, with better gear/weapons the enemies and bosses health drop faster. Always keep in mind that the strikes and story missions have given levels in the descriptions. The strike is a Level 6 strike. So let's assume that you just leveled up to 6 but still running around with gear you found at Level 4 or 5. Of course you are getting your ghost kicked, lol. Free roam a bit, kill some enemies, collect or buy new gear. Or start the strike and prepare to invest some extra time ;) That's a common thing in most MMO games.
-
Ridiculous fun more like, but I feel you may have had a bad mix of classes or weapons for your first time. It really should take less time then that and will once you get a good team together with better weapons and skills unlocked.
-
3 RepliesIts far too easy in my opinion. The Alpha versions Hard mode makes the beta version seem to be a cakewalk.
-
Are you kidding me? It's so easy. Sepiks Prime needs to be buffed in my opinion.
-
Took me, my bf. and our friend like 15 min to kill him. We flank and focus fire on on leg at a time and go from there. Once you get the hang of it. It's easy. Even on the Lvl 8 setting.
